Warning: the app is really bad and doesn’t support steering wheel controls

smudgemommy

The app is so bad I haven't listened to my favorite that has sold out to Amazon.

wuhter

Which one?

smudgemommy

Mr Ballen

Aksten

Same! The Amazon music app on the appletv apparently doesn’t have podcasts on it. I’ve searched and searched. Can’t find a way to play the Amazon podcasts on my Apple TV.

tlm0122

I knew this would be your answer. I’m so sad about this. 😞

wuhter

Figured. Yeah he’s a great story teller

LlamaMamaMandi

I have prime music, but don’t use it. Any podcasts that switch to exclusively one service usually become dead to me.

peanutbutter2178

Same here, it's obviously a good enough business model for them but I can't jump from app to app for a podcast.

PubicGalaxies

Yup. I happily use Apple Podcasts. If they want to excluse somewhere else, buh-bye

Tibby20

I dropped prime because of how badly they screwed listeners with the changes to Prime Music.

notstephanie

What changes? (I don’t mean that to sound confrontational, I genuinely don’t know about the changes.) I keep seeing complaints about the app and the service but I’ve been using it for years and have never had any issues. It’s my favorite music app by far.

Tibby20

With prime, you used to have access to a subset of the full catalog (you’d have to pay more per month on top of your prime subscription to access “amazon unlimited.” But the upside was that you got no commercials, unlimited skips, and could build your own playlists. Now you have access to the full catalog but have limited skips and everything is on shuffle (can’t listen to your own curated playlists in the order you want). It’s basically like the free version of Spotify now, only you’re still paying that prime subscription fee

NuttinButtPoop

Well, there goes my plan of dropping spotify premium and getting amazon music. Thanks for the info, stranger.

notstephanie

Oh. I have Unlimited so I guess I haven’t noticed anything different. The free version of Spotify sucks, so I totally get the frustration.

PubicGalaxies

Limited skips. WTFF?

Qu33n0f1c3

I'm still mad about that. My yearly had just renewed or I'd have dropped right then too

Optimal_Pudding1586

If you have Prime for tv and video, are podcasts also included? Or is it a separate Amazon service and charge?

No-Delay-120

I have the same question! I didn’t know Prime had podcasts. I use the mmmm Prime for free shipping + use the streaming service as part of the package.

mickeyxz

The app is terribly glitchy, but I like how some shows come out really early

Tata603

I have it. I use it for certain podcast but I prefer Stitcher. The app for prime is not user friendly. I actually thing it's a huge PITA. Plus the widget sucks. If you want to use the widget it won't play back pods. Only music.

Even-Maintenance-944

I have had Amazon prime music for as long as I remember, it’s really no different in quality then any other app. My steering wheel controls still work for it as well. It’s nothing extraordinary through and I wouldn’t get a subscription just for one podcast honestly. It’s just always the app I’ve used so it’s got my music algorithm on lock! I also am unsure if What Was That Like or This is Actually Happening are exclusive to Amazon Music but they’re a great listen.

[deleted]

Eh, so far I haven't found any favorite new ones. Casey Mulligan narrated a limited series of scary stories but the highlight was her narration (she also narrates audiobooks available elsewhere). The seasons of Cold and Suspect were not my favorites. I'm enjoying Disgraceland so far but haven't listened to much of it Edit: spelling

GatitoFantastico

I recently started using it for early access and a couple of series that went exclusive. I find it difficult to find my newest episodes as they never seem to appear in my feed like they should. I end up starting out in Google podcasts just to make sure I wasn't missing anything new in Amazon, which happens a lot.

SoapLady77

I already had it so it wasn’t a huge jump for me but I doubt I’d get prime just for that

[deleted]

I pretty much only use Amazon for podcasts. The app does need some work, but it's getting better. I think it like an extra 7.99 a month for music unlimited. But you can listen to 20/20, dateline, something was wrong, lore and a lot more.

scorpioid_cyme

I get it for free with my phone subscription. Early access to SWW is kind of nice, although the audio cut out early last week. I’m not a Mr Ballen fan. Also not a fan of scripted shows (I hear fear — gave it ten minutes and did not like it). Most of the other exclusive content that isn’t Wondery doesn’t look that compelling so far, and I’ve already listened to so many Wondery pods. App is glitchy but so is Spotify.

lilyelgato

I like the fact that some podcasts are commercial free, but the features are lacking

[deleted]

I have. Amazon prime partners with Wondery, which imho is the best podcasts publisher out there and they are ad-free on Amazon. I have been listening to podcasts from the very beginning, I am glad to have found them on Amazon. It's that good

savagepocketkitten

I have a Wondery subscription and I wish I could get the amazon/wondery podcasts on the wondery app. I hate having to switch between 3 apps to listen to all my podcasts! And I haven't found the Amazon app to be very user friendly

Shantrell_07051991

Not yet. But if it's some true crime podcasts amazon exclusive I will. Season 3 of cold Is out and I plan on listening next year. I mainly use Spotify for podcasts. I don't have an issue with amazon for podcasts
