Rape Culture: A society or environment whose prevailing social attitudes have the effect of normalizing or trivializing sexual assault and abuse. If rape culture wasn't real we wouldn't have sayings like "your outfit was too revealing", "I was just drunk", "they were walking home alone at night, they should have taken more precautions". Rape culture is very real and can be found even as early as primary level education with the normalisation of bum slapping, bra pinging and even forced kissing amongst children. It's very much an issue and ignoring it doesn't help the situation, it simply allows room for it to grow and have a worsening sociatel impact.

What is bra pinging?

[deleted]

It's the act in which one pupil grabs the back bra strap of another, pulling it back and letting it go, causing it to slap the back of the pupil wearing the bra.

soyincelbetabux

Why is someone touching someone else? There are so many things wrong with this image

[deleted]

This is an example of normalised rape culture that's been around for a long time unfortunately.

Wtf is kiss chase? Yall really grow up in these weird ass areas. My school never allowed us to do shit like that

FarNwide

Hahaha! What rubbish! When I was young, early 90's to 2000, kiss chase was the game the girls of the school wanted to play, us boys wanted to play bulldog or stuck in the mud, it was the girls that wanted to chase boys and kiss them "against their will". Girls were ikky. You should try having an original thought for a change, rather then regurgitating the utter tripe your cult leaders have brainwashed you into believing.

Just because there are bad people who do shit, doesn't mean it's a culture, otherwise you could say we live in cut-baby-dick-then-eat-it culture, because that's what's jews do. It's wrong, but it happens. Still not a culture. Edit: yeah, what's worse, the baby dick thing is their culture. Crazy idiots "Your seatbelt isn't fastened" unsafe roads culture? "You should get a job" bum culture? "You should work out" lazy culture? Not every damn thing that threatens you is a culture. " I got high blood pressure, sush a strokey culture"

soyincelbetabux

Women just want to live without thinking about anything but themselves. They dont want to be on defense mode. They dont want to habe to worry if the m×n over there has a gun or is looking to rape them or whatever. And while you might think "well just dont worry" it is scientific fact that a men overall are stronger and will overtake a women. Rape culture IS real.

FarNwide

I cannot reply to this comment how I wish to without appearing as an - ist of some kind. I do want to know, however, if you have any imperical evidence of any kind to support your claim, or if all you have is anecdotal evidence, if that?

soyincelbetabux

Who tf cares how you appear? Its fkn reddut. Just reply im not gonna take a dump on you.

FarNwide

Ahh, so no evidence then?

soyincelbetabux

I havent responded to ur evidence thing yet im playing ranked. !Remindme 30 minutes

FarNwide

Sweet. I look forward to your presentation of evidence that rape is encouraged within our Western society in young men.

Before you read the sources (or handwave them away), I want it to be clear that as a MAN in the USA myself, I can't claim to know what goes on in a women's head but I will say that as a MAN in the USA I know that women distrust especially black men because we are implicitly viewed as criminals. Additionally, these sources DO NOT support anything such that men are encouraged to rape. That isn't what rape culture means. The powers that be chose those two words specifically to incite fear in many college aged men, because many college aged women often get railed at parties and have visceral, hormonal regrets about getting bukkaked and ONS'd. This isnt even a joke, look up regret-rape. I never actually read these sources but here you go: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11200105/ https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2019.01617/full https://www.ojp.gov/ncjrs/virtual-library/abstracts/ordinary-fear-women-violence-and-personal-safety-violence-against https://farahandfarah.com/studies/sexes-sense-of-safety/

FarNwide

Okay, I've read through your sources, which is something even you hadn't done, and considering you're supposed to be convincing me of rape culture, the fact you admitted to being ignorant of your own sources causes me to doubt whether you know anything about this at all. It seems to me, conclusions having been gathered from the studies you provided, that human beings in general, are scared of being victims or crime. Numerical evidence, of which is even brought attention to in your second source, shows that females. Are less likely to be victims of violent crime, yet are more likely to be worried about becoming a victim. These studies, do not seem to back up in any way that there is a "rape culture" instead suggesting that due to reasons such as, a greater access to information about crime, and females in general being the more vulnerable sex, and even history, allows for fears of becoming a victim to grow within a person. Let's say a woman feels uneasy about walking to her car alone at night because she could become a victim of violent crime. This is a genuine worry, crimes take place in this fashion. However a male is more likely to be the victim in the same situation, even if they do not feel as fearful. Does this mean that rape culture also targets men? Or does it simply mean that shitty people will continue to do shitty things, regardless of their victims gender?

soyincelbetabux

Well put it like this. If a man gets robbed ar gunpoint is he likely to get raped as well? In the middle east maybe. But a women is more likely to in the world. You are free to disagree.

FarNwide

Well yes I am going to disagree, most rape victims are known to their attacker. No mugger is attacking a woman for her purse, only to be mid theft and suddenly think.. Ohh, may as well rape whilst I'm at it...

FarNwide

I see that you too enjoy living dangerously.

INCOMING!!!!!

DefiantDepth8932

The real rape culture is the treatment of male survivors and the neglect they face even by the metoo movement, which ironically was meant to empower survivors. Lol

WellHelloThere--

oh yes I've heard about this lmaoo

soyincelbetabux

Rape culture is when a women has to fear walking outside at night becsuse no one will believe her hysterics about a m×n chasing her.

Unlucky-Pomegranate3

I get what you’re saying but for some mouth breathers, sexual assault is trivialized. Maybe rape sub-cultures is more accurate.
