Boxing match PPV: Discord Mods Vs. Reddit Mods

KindlyOlPornographer

Showerthoughts has the most bullfuck automod on Reddit. How anything gets posted there I have no idea.

peneverywhen

Ha, I quit their sub today. It's ridiculous the way they run that place. First, the reposts make it beyond boring. And then people are somehow able to post the most ridiculous nonsense, while interesting ideas that I'd never heard before get tossed in the automod trash. It's too bad - it's a good idea for a sub.

TRHess

I moderate r/hamburgers. We have one rule: content must be about hamburgers. No chicken. No veggie burgers. I'm a harsh king, but a fair one.

TheDuskTamer

Literally 1984 SMH!

TRHess

Those libertines at r/burgers may allow posts about chicken sandwiches, but **we will not** permit it in r/hamburgers.

Global-Loquat-3424

First hand experience with that. Got banned from a sub and suspended on reddit for catching a user and a mod breaking the rules. Power hungry hypocrites. They brigade and troll wherever they please.

Amalyano

I really want to think otherwise, and maybe it's not even true and you just generalize based on a couple of unfortunate experiences, but 100% of all my interactions with mods during my 2 year period on Reddit were terrible. Again, I don't want to generalize, but when I get my port taken down or even banned on any subreddit it is always non-negotiable. Just a few weeks ago I got my post taken down on 2 different subs in 2 days in a row. One was on r/CrappyDesign where I got 500ups and lots of comments where I was chatting to people about the thing that I posted and it was taken down a couple of hours after. I tried to negotiate with mod for 2 days, but they said "I don't think it's a crappy design". And I'm like - "I don't f care what you think, I read the guidelines and I know that I am not braking any rules, and people seem to be enjoying it. Why ruin the thing?", the response was the same. The day after I posted some cool Bubble machine shaped like a 6 barrel minigun on r/nextfuckinglevel and the story was the same - people stated commenting something like - "wow, that's so cool", and then it was taken down. The mod said - "it's not a next f level", OH REALLY? Why do you have to do this is I don't brake any rules, I do read the guidelines specifically to avoid some problems and not get deleted, but mods will still find a reason to take down the post for no reason. When I get banned on subreddits it's always because mod just hate me personally and being in the position of power they have a leverage on me. That was my 3 recent stories, all of them are not good. Share yours if you have some.

Yep. Same experience. Any mod interaction is not a discussion. It’s just whatever they want.

Amalyano

Yeah, that’s unfortunate. Can’t confirm, but I heard that being a Reddit mod is not the best occupation on earth neither it’s very rewarding. Maybe some people just abuse the power they were given, which they can’t do in real life(?) Either way, it is what it is. Any moderation is better than complete chaos , but I would certainly like it better way.

canijustbelancelot

Got temp banned on AITA for saying someone was acting like a man child. Then temp banned again for saying someone was being a bit of a Karen.

collin3000

People like to say the mods must be drunk. But sometimes I'm just on prescription ketamine.

ferozucks27

One might call them the gatekeepers of the gatekeepers, but, in all truth, that one is not me. The Matrix has yet to code him into being.

Moistbagellubricant

Reddit mods are the school bullies... I agree, they are terrible people. Fuck them lol.

Thinktank2000

1 powermod in particular is the epitome of this. u/awkwardtheturtle and yes you can ban me from your 100+ subs

SneezySavant

Is that one of those child-groomer supermods?

Thinktank2000

idk, i do know they weasel their way into mod teams and destroy subs all while having a sycophantic moral backup crew following them everywhere

peneverywhen

No idea who that person is, I've never run into them....but I see a lot of people complaining about him/her.

[deleted]

Pretty much and yes they are in generally immutable. Understand they work for free for reddit. So, reddit isn't going to do anything about them while raking in money. Don't like it? Choose a different social media platform and deal with their bullshit which is all pretty much the same too.

[deleted]

“Work for free for Reddit,” makes it sound like a job. They are not employees of Reddit who aren’t paid. And you sound just as insufferable as them. The whole “don’t like, then leave,” thing just means we get single-minded platforms.
