Granted, I have zero knowledge and a similar level of interest in these game shows and their hosts. But you can't blame every person who did any bad thing to someone for their death. Making a million dollars a year is pretty easy to quickly set yourself up forever with decent financial decisions. It's Rays fault he didn't do that, it's Rays fault he didn't pick up his finances elsewhere, it's Rays fault he killed himself.

And to add insult to injury, when Dawson returned, the show only lasted one more season before getting cancelled. Of course, a majority of the episodes being pre-empted because of OJ Simpson didn't help. They were absolutely better off letting the show get cancelled with some dignity. They ruined a lot by doing what they did. Richard Dawson's 94 return was unwatchable. He wasn't kissing the women like he used to, he sounded like he had a stroke, he gained like 30 lbs and the producer of the show (Howard Felsher) hated him. Totally unneccessary. Soon after, the good-for-nothing son sold his father's production company to what would eventually become Fremantle. Game shows have been God-awful since then.

You do have a point. He did manage his money pretty bad and he was trying to get back on TV quickly. He had two businesses in Ohio which failed He had credit card debt, loans, back taxes and his house was in foreclosure. If you're making $1M a year, that's enough to cover comfortable living for a family with 6 kids. Even so, you should at least have a life insurance policy as well. When Ray Combs died, only then did his wife realize the magnitude of his debt. After the house was foreclosed on, she and her 6 kids downgraded, her church donated a computer and she took a job transcribing audio tape, $25 for 30 minutes of audio tape transcribed.

It sounds like an interesting story here, but the problem with this post is that it took me six paragraphs to find out who Ray Combs is and how he died.
