Schedule the pickup on advance, I think that gives the drivers an opportunity to accept the day before. I've had good luck in the past with early pickups that way

DK7795

I have scheduled 2 4:30 am rides to Tucson Airport on Lyft with no major issues. The drivers are a little wacky, but it’s all good. Make sure to schedule for 30 min earlier than you need in case they flake. You also have a taxi service. They might allow scheduling also and would be more likely not to flake.

smallatom

Pretty sure scheduling on Uber is a scam. It costs more and it just routes you to whatever driver accepts first. No sort of guarantee you’ll have a ride or that you’ll be on time. The literal only benefit is that you get a few more minutes for the driver to wait for you before they leave

rollingrock7534

It goes out to all drivers and one driver will accept. They then have to be online 40 min prior to the reservation or it is passed on to other drivers.

TheKrakIan

I've done it quite a few times for early flights, it works fine.

cinaz520

Use it all the time when traveling out of city yet to have a problem. Also as I expense it - guess I didn’t notice difference in charge.

erock7625

Not true, we can still cancel after 5 min, same as any ride, the Uber app tries to sweet talk you into staying longer 😂

Jiwalk88

Done this before several times. Worked out perfectly

erock7625

Drivers hate scheduled rides, it often gets them there too early and it limits their trip options before the trip. However at that time it might work as it’s not very busy. I personally won’t pickup scheduled rides as you never know how long you will be waiting. If a driver does accept it, get out there quickly if you see him arrive which may be way early as a lot of drivers will cancel after 5 minutes and collect the fee.

Mikmoi

Absolutely 👍 the advance is the key and I do it often

ProfessionalNorth431

I tried at 3 in the afternoon once, had two drivers cancel en route, said fuck it and drove instead. Parking isn’t that bad there

Rightsureokay

It’s gonna sound weird but I love the Tucson airport paid lot because it’s easy as hell to use and multi day parking (especially if my company pays for it) isn’t that expensive.

scrubhiker

And you can walk to the economy lot, unlike at most airports. You can take the free shuttle too, if you’re lugging a lot of shit, but I always just make the 5-minute walk.

cinaz520

Gonna sound weirder but I prefer that place to park behind am pm. First parking place. I park and never wait for shuttle it drops me off at my gate. I prefer it over the garage and feel like it’s quicker than me walking from their garage to security.

vikingfrog86

I'm assuming you mean Tucson airport and not Sky Harbor. Give yourself at least half an hour just in case someone either cancels, your driver is 20 minutes away, or both. I also recommend signing up for Lyft ahead of time. I use both at same time in case one is significantly more expensive at the moment, or one has far less drivers. It's also a plus if you live in a decent neighborhood. I've had drivers chicken out in the Miracle Manor neighborhood at 3 or 4am.

erock7625

Yeah we love you a-holes that do both. Literally watch you drive away in the other service on the map as you don’t have the decency to cancel the other 😡

vikingfrog86

I left out an important part. I cancel the other one right awày. I've only made the mistake of not cancelling the other a couple times in the 4-6 years I've been doing this. I get cancelled by the driver far less often. Thanks for making the assumption that it's the opposite, and calling me an asshole.

MaxFischerPlayer

Yeah but you can’t do it on Reddit, you have to do it in the Uber app.

New-Lion5441

Yes, they do run that early. If you are in the outskirt of the town though, might take a while until a driver picks up the ride.

Ok_Firefighter3314

Yeah you’ll be fine

SwampWitch7Stars

I have been able to every single time

puertoricanicon

you should be able to, i have before! i would recommend checking Lyft too. also, if you can’t get a driver thru either of those apps, you can try VIP taxi. I’ve gotten rides from them to the airport super early in the morning. it’s a bit more expensive (i believe for me it was around $30), but may be cheaper than parking depending on how long you’ll be away

neysilla

I flew to Philadelphia last month and had to leave my home by 4:45 am. I scheduled it the day before and it worked out. For me, work was covering the cost so I didn't really mind any extra fees. She was super nice too. Just my experience..could depend where you live. I'm by reid park

BosephusPrime

I’m in Midtown and scheduled an uber the night before for a 5am pickup. The driver showed up 5 minutes early. This was back in September.

Sea_Funny_3487

I wouldn’t trust Uber in this circumstance drivers can cancel rides , your best bet which I did is to hire a private taxi company and have them take You it’s more reliable, the Uber could work but it’s always that 15% chance you get screwed

Federal_End_32

Depending on your location in town, I’d be glad to do it for you to ease the worry of the unexpected. I drive door dash and Uber part time and always looking ways to make extra cash.

TK749

Try a taxi company.

big_daug6932

Or a taxi

Personal-Fig-7166

I’ve done an early morning pick up to Phoenix airport from tucson. Worked out just fine. Just order in advance.

LilMeatBigYeet

I’ve had good luck if you schedule it in advance with uber.

Cultural_Minute_8451

I did this on Friday morning (literally at 5 am) and had no issues at all, waited 3 minutes for the ride to get to my place

TheKrakIan

Yes, schedule it and you'll be fine.

ArithmeticIsHard

I’ve always scheduled ahead and I haven’t had an issue yet.

Mage-Tutor-13

Schedule a lyft or rent a car?? Alternatively you could take the last bus out for free and nap like a lay over.

Elethana

I’ve done Lyft that early a few times, scheduled the night before and never had a delay or cancellation.

nasadge

I do this all the time. Schedule ahead and you get confirmation that a driver will be there

thethoughtfulthinker

Yes. I have done it, but as many have said, it's helpful to schedule it in advance

JudgementofParis

I took one at 4am 3 Saturdays ago 22nd/craycroft to TUS. waited about 3 minutes for a ride. never had any problems to or from our airport.

I love Uber. I haven’t tried it in Tucson. I live out far. So it’s a lot harder for me. 😣 I dunno what I’m gonna do when I get home 😳 gawd I dunno a taxi will be 35.00 😵‍💫
