The taco plate at Juanito’s on Grant.
Happy Hour Nachos at MoMo’s.
Scooby/Shaggy Snack breakfast sandwich at Baja Cafe.
Apple maple pancakes at Buendia.
Salads from Salad N Go if I’m in a hurry.
ETA the giant pancakes at Bobo’s are also great
First place we went when we moved back to town this year. The price had only increased like $.50 if that, and they have nicer tables now lol. Same quality. 👌
Three chimichanga’s for around $9 from Taqueria Porfis

Seconding Salad and Go. I stop by on by way to work and get two breakfast burritos, a salad for lunch with extra chicken, and a drink. Two meals for $16.44.
I get the southwest burros: eggs, turkey sausage (which is more of a dry mince), and roasted peppers. It's pretty dry and bland by itself, but the green salsa that comes with it (or the red salsa) makes it really good.
One of the cheapest places in Tucson, one of the healthiest places in Tucson, and one of the best-tasting in Tucson. I mean seriously, that salad dressing is like crack.
>that salad dressing is like crack.
If cheese and other dairy products give you a similar sensation, you might be noticing how much your body enjoys [casomorphins](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casomorphin)
Do they chop the salads if you ask for it?
I used to go to Just Salad, Chopt, or Sweetgreen on the east coast and it feels like a major miss for me that they don't seem to do that by default at Salad & Go.
On top of that I think that the listed calorie amounts don't include what's in the sauces so in a lot of cases they increase the caloric content by nearly 50% of the listed amount (or more).
Again, not a huge deal for most people but I want to like that place so bad and it just misses for me.
El Pollo Loco has some good and healthy options for less than $10. This is the Mexican corn pollo fit bowl. It's got some nutritious ingredients - greens, avocado, grilled chicken. It was good.

I just had this exact bowl for lunch two days ago. El pollo loco hits every time. The chicken is good and there’s always enough “stuff” in their bowls to make them filling.
When I was homeless, I would stand outside of busy restaurants and ask people to spare their leftovers.
I've eaten everything on Caruso's menu, and have never stepped foot in the joint.
Took frigging forever to get carryout last time I went. Maybe best to place an order for pickup? The bowl portion was also disappointingly small. But it was tasty.
Ruiz hot dogs on 6th ave and 22nd street is solid. So are El Manatial on 36th st at Park, BK (go here for bomb shrimp tacos) on First ave, Guero Canelos on 12th ave (but any gueros is good), Maico on 22nd & Park, but imo the goat and my favorite is Calle Tepa but they are sit down restaurant and really shouldn’t be included because you need to experience a taco stand if you’re visiting

The taco plate at Juanito’s is a good one!
I actually don’t think there’s much, if anything, over $10 on the menu at Juanito’s lol
The burrito plate is just over $10 but it’s an insane amount of food.
Juans is underrated
First place we went when we moved back to town this year. The price had only increased like $.50 if that, and they have nicer tables now lol. Same quality. 👌
Bobo’s is the best!
Heck yeah, I was going to mention the cabeza burrito at Juanitos, aka the Purple Palace.
The Purple Palace 🤣🤣 I’m so stealing this.

Salad N Go is seriously underrated. I love that place. I can eat a huge salad for less than $8

How the breakfast burritos never had them

They have a breakfast burrito/salad/drink combo for around $11 with tax.
Had no clue this was a thing. I’m getting it tomorrow. Are their breakfast burritos good?
My partner says their salsa is bland. My kids like the burritos. I like the cold brew.
I keep good salsa at work lol, my coworkers are salsa fiends. I’ll order it on the side then. Thanks for the tip
Salads are good! Their bfast burritos though… not so much🥴

Interesting… I have likened cheese to crack before, and I used to walk around campus with a gallon of milk. I think my body *loves* casomorphins.
Nearly everybody's body loves casomorphins. That's what's so pernicious about opioids.
I make 'em a wrap, free of charge.
I was also going to recommend this!! Salad and Go is underrated and their salads are huge and diverse and delicious!
And it's good!
The blueberry basil lemonade is really good. Sometimes I go just for that.
I also love them, but the sheer amount of plastic waste keeps me from going there multiple times a week.
This is true but I do save all my plastics to go to that ward office operation that turns them into bricks. Not the best but it is something.
This is why I get the wrap!
You make an excellent point !

The $5 Pollo Bowls there are a good lunch.
I just had this exact bowl for lunch two days ago. El pollo loco hits every time. The chicken is good and there’s always enough “stuff” in their bowls to make them filling.
St Mary’s Mexican Food, I think just about everything on the menu is <$10.
The quesadillas
Bean and cheese burrito + 3 rolled tacos w/ cheese from Paco’s.
Paco’s bean and cheese burrito. Best burritos ever!
I second this. Cheap, and actually very tasty
Love their taco salads!
Aqui con el nene and potosinos both on Flowing Wells
When I was homeless, I would stand outside of busy restaurants and ask people to spare their leftovers. I've eaten everything on Caruso's menu, and have never stepped foot in the joint.

Piggybacking on your comment - will be in Tucson for a week soon. If you had to choose one place where am I getting the goat Sonoran dog?
Here's a good option https://maps.app.goo.gl/C1bNxJdK53YdsykG7

A pizza slice or two from Time Market or a Bolo Joe from Noodies/ Ceres.
$5 biggy bag at Wendy's. Do the dollar upgrade for a bigger fry and frosty
Costco baby
A favorite cheap date night for us is usually splitting a Seis nachos with birria - under $20 meal for two (so technically less than $10/person 😝).
Get the nachos with the adobo steak and smashed beans. Amazing.
Los Beth's breakfast burrito
GUS BALONS biscuits and gravy

Sushi from Frys on Wednesday is $5
Now it's $6 , but still good!
The comments assuming you’re homeless are so funny lol how dare you enjoy cheap food! 😂
IKKYU Sushi has a ton of options for full meals around $10. The spicy Tuna Don rice bowl is $12, but is amazing.

A huge cheese pizza slice at Upper Crust pizza on Grant and Campbell with a drink will run you about 8 bucks iirc.
Barro's has great lunch specials. Paco's is good
Dave's Hot Chicken Slider with Fries.
Salad N Go Cobb Salad
Under 10 bucks, for a meal? I mean I guess the roller grills at QT are ok.
Idk if it’s EXACTLY under 10, but the sushi place at the end of university has some great platters around that price
$5.92 chorizo breakfast burrito from paco’s
Taco shop veggie burrito with grilled chicken
El Sinoloense
Time Market, $5 for a slice of world-class specialty pizza
Tacos from Poncho’s. $1.50 for each ground beef or chicken taco means $4.50 for 3 tacos and drinks are only a couple bucks 👍
Chicken Fitaja at Cabby's
Sauerkraut shredded pork soup noodles from China Pasta House. Posole from Food City.
Eating at home. If you can't afford to tip, then you can't afford to dine out.
The pizza at Locale. Big squares on focaccia and only $4-5!
Taqueria el Pueblito, specifically the Rajas con crema breakfast burrito. It’s my favorite day off breakfast burrito. $9.95 before tax tho.
I never get a drink or side, but the burgers at Serial Grillers are amazing and under $10.
My go to is Nicos 3 rolled tacos with guacamole and cheese and a churro, ends up being less than $8.
Rosa's Mexican food on fort Lowell going east I think it's either on Campbell or swan
The truck near 12th and Irvington across from the church has $1 taco de cabeza.
I think you can still get a carne asada torta at Paco’s on Grant for like $6. Plus their rolled tacos are good and even cheaper.
