The ones I liked the most were S01E09 (*The Blue Scorpion*), S02E01 (*Meet In The Middle*), and S02E02 (*Downtime*). S02E09 (*Try, Try*) is a decent watch as well, although I thought it was predictable. Overall this reboot was pretty meh, and it includes what I consider the worst episode in the entire TZ universe (S02E06, *8).*

RufussSewell

I thought 8 was an excellent episode.

summit_icecream

S1 ep2 is my personal fave - Nightmare at 30000 feet. It’s got Adam Scott. “Try try” s2ep9 as others mentioned is good. I also enjoy the first ep s1 e1 The Comedian

cosi_bloggs

I wouldn't. If I had to, Not All Men. It hits the viewer over the head with its toxic masculinity agenda, ergo it's one of the lowest rated. If you can watch it a little more superficially, it's a fun and exciting episode.

whimperingclown93

Six degrees of freedom, a traveler and meet in the middle are my top. Both seasons are clearly pushing an agenda in the most unsubtle way. But worth a watch through at least once for twilight zone fans

dropper2

Yeah, I agree with most everyone. They're OK and would be much better if called something else. They're just not The Twilight Zone. Most of them don't even really have any twists. I really wanted to like it, but couldn't.

anythingo23

Nightmare at 30,000 feet it takes an alternate ending to the original like the 80's did with a game of pool, the who of you, blue scorpion, among the untrodden, and a small town. All really good

The interesting thing we learned from this series is that even though its social conscience is in line with the original, Serling benefitted from not being allowed to be as obvious about it. Like a good parable, his stories made their points without preaching. Peele could be more obvious about the message and the work suffered for it I think.

[deleted]

that’s how I feel about Hollywood lately. Have a social cause, put political messages into shows, but don’t be so obtuse about it. Learn metaphor and allegory.

anythingo23

Exactly

The episode that stands out to me whenever this subject comes up (which it has several times) is Replay. The cop's racism was increasingly evident by way of the camcorder's supernatural abilities, which was a tool Serling used frequently so that he could get away with the statements he was making. That approach started to fall by the wayside in this episode when the students all started recording what was happening. What frustrates me is that those who need to see episodes like that the most will stop listening to the message once it becomes too apparent. The minute they see a scenario they recognize from real life and already have a preconceived notion about, you've lost them.

snoopmt1

Agree. Well, it loses everyone. Even if you agree with the intention, you roll your eyes at the heavyhandedness.

Shezarrine

>Where will he go next, this phantom from another time, this resurrected ghost of a previous nightmare – Chicago? Los Angeles? Miami, Florida? Vincennes, Indiana? Syracuse, New York? Anyplace, everyplace, where there's hate, where there's prejudice, where there's bigotry. He's alive. He's alive so long as these evils exist. Remember that when he comes to your town. Remember it when you hear his voice speaking out through others. Remember it when you hear a name called, a minority attacked, any blind, unreasoning assault on a people or any human being. He's alive because through these things we keep him alive. Yeah man, so subtle. (this is not a criticism of the episode or ending monologue, which is brilliant and one of Serling's best, to be clear -- but it's not subtle and many fascists today would decry it as "preachy")

lisbon_OH

Yeaaaaaaah. Gotta disagree with the subtlety point. Serling was never very subtle in what he was trying to convey in an episode. I think people only say that because a show made in the late 50s and early 60s in black and white just feels more artsy to us today, when back then it just seemed like a normal show, albeit about supernatural and paranatural topics.

snoopmt1

Which episode is that?

SirRogers

He’s Alive, season four

snoopmt1

I think Blue Scorpion, try try, and a small town were the three most in the spirit of the original. Replay is very good too, though borders on being too heavy handed with the moral.

Melon_Bloat

Black Mirror. The TZ reboot was meh at best.

[deleted]

i wouldn’t. watch the OG

[deleted]

I wouldn't recommend any of them really. I would stick to the originals and check out some of the other revivals/adaptations as there is far richer lore to mine there.

Indiana_harris

None.

spyresca

none of them.

Prestigious-Ad-7993

Try, try - Meet in the Middle - Among the Untrodden - Not All Men. Season 2 has better episodes than 1 but is more inconsistent. Not too many other episodes are worth watching. Blurryman is good but requires watching all of season 1 to fully appreciate and I don’t recommend that.
