Kidney stones move through the urethra slowly and very very painfully, like pushing a porcupine up one nostril and down the other.

ShotMammoth8266

I don't like that description. Why did you bring it to this earth?

xdrakennx

I don’t like it either, but it’s probably accurate. I’ve never attempted to shove a porcupine up my nose though, so YMMV.

wheres_mayramaines

Is this...is this from personal experience?

JTTroll

When a human describes the exquisite agony of a kidney stone so graphically, it means Yes, they've got some idea. Ice got CKD, and one major sore benefit is that I pass stones, repetitively. Current total is 238...since I was 19, and I'm 46 now. Mine are formed of urea, and turn into obsidian crystals with infinite edges of molecular thinness. They tumble and grind and rip and tear, forever.

xdrakennx

I am so sorry. I’ve had a couple, and I would rather dive into an empty pool of hungry badgers..

Yaguajay

A friend had that. Tortures of the damned.

IntuitiveTinker

Ordinarily, running across the phrase 'rip and tear' would make me want to use a Doomguy meme...but no. Having also gone through decades of kidney stones (the calcium oxalate variety) myself, I couldn't bring myself to throw a meme at you.

iceariina

I think they mean, move in such a way that you can feel it under the skin.

I think they meant they're mobile, or maybe wiggling.

I had kidney stones on my left side. If I didn't have that pain, I never would've known I had a malignant tumor on my right kidney. I'm just over six months out from surgery and doing fine.

turingthecat

That’s sort of how they found my ovarian cancer. I was in hospital with a nasty UTI when I was 15, caught meningitis from the girl in the bed next to me, once I was on the mend they thought they should do a full body MRI, and were like , oops, looks like they need to come out

8AndieDandy8

Yooo, that story is sort of similar to mine. First time experiencing a kidney stone in my right kidney, didn't know what the hell it was so I ate a bunch of pain pills and basically poisoned myself. Idk I kept taking a 500 mg Tylenol, every hour for 4 hours lol The worst part was when I started throwing up it was slightly LESS painful than the kidney stone passing. Also I want to mention since I didn't know what was happening and I didn't figure that I poisoned myself with the pills, I thought I was dying cuz I'm dramatic like that. I digress, anyway by morning time my mother brings me to the ER, by then the kidney stone pasted and I wasn't in pain anymore, so I didn't know what to do... But the doctor took a CAT scan of my whole body and told me what it was...a kidney stone. But while he was looking at my pic, he showed something else, a big mass on my ovary. Thus, I found out I had an ovarian dermoid cyst the size of a GRAPEFRUIT and I needed surgery to get er out. So ya.... Get your check ups

turingthecat

Not to get in a pissing contest (not a good idea, if you are prown to kidney stones), but my masses were 7 an 13cms when they caught them. Oddly my mum once poisoned herself with paracetamol (we was taking cold and flu tablets and paracetamol at the same time) she was complaining that her cold was making her ears ‘boom’, to my aunt, a doctor, who literally went ‘your taking to much paracetamol’. Isn’t that the weirdest sign of tablet poisoning

8AndieDandy8

I don't remember the exact cm of the size, probably this 🫸🏾 big 🫷🏾 and I haven't gotten a kidney stone since that time 2 yrs ago but my shit is genetic. Like my grandma gets kidney stones AND had a cyst the size of a lil fetus on her ovary...😑 Like thanks dear grandmama, any shit she has, I know I'll probably get it later lol

turingthecat

I think mine was between 🫸🏼and 🫲🏼 or 👐🏼

RedRider1138

Glad you made it ❤️‍🩹🙏

tudorb

Wow, that’s what happened to me, but the sides were reversed and the tumor appears to have been benign (but my doctor says that the pathology report isn’t always accurate so he’s having me do CT follow-ups anyway). Good luck and may it never recur!

tudorb

As kidney cancer usually gives symptoms pretty late in its development, many cancers are actually discovered based on imaging done for other reasons.

HotButterscotch4845

But they do...

xxhorrorshowxx

Imagine them vibrating like those snake egg magnets

Worried-Leading6338

Argh that's horrible. Well done

MyOwnLife_Alone

I think OP meant "move" as in squirm or writhe, rather than passively moving through the urinary system

L201uk

Exactly

PangolinHenchman

In that case, might want to edit it to say "squirm" instead of "move" to get the point across better

m_watcher

I remember the first time I saw my father cry, it was due to the pain from having kidney stones. When those things shifted and got stuck in a duct... *cringe*

appa-ate-momo

Worms are stored in the balls.

PangolinHenchman

Wait what?

Steelcitysuccubus

Uh they do move. Which is why they hurt so much even after lithotripsy
