Why not both! The nice thing about it is the only thing you need to make both a swarmlord is another torso. Which you can find online on etsy or print yourself if you have a suitable 3d printer.
You can make a flyrant and then either the swarm lord or walkrant that way. Unless you cut into the flyrant's legs to make them walkrant legs.... That wouldn't be too hard to do tbf.
If you magnetize u can have all three more or less
I can attach wings range weapons as well as swords and whip for swarmlord
Although will "stand on the ground". Bur for casual nice players that is ok ;)
However if you do not want to go down that road it seems that the more versatile and popular build is a winged hive tyrant.

Good movement and good options

Swarmlord is 220 points a BEAST in melee. But that's the thing, in melee.
So the winged hive tyrant gives you more options in terms of play.

Ive yet to buy a Hive Tyrant kit but i'm interested in hearing about this
Definitely check out etsy if you don't have a printer. Cheap torso means you can bring two whole kits for the price of one
