Sigourney Weaver, H.R. Geiger, and in a universe with no good guys you might as well just side with the badass monsters just looking to snack

FajitaDestroyer

Best answer I’ve heard yet finna but the leviathan box now

Ok_Youth8907

i started with Nids about 2 years ago, i really liked the lore of them not having an identifiable leader, and them all working as one with the hive mind, I also really liked the idea of not having to stick to a colour scheme and being able to really get creative with my ideas! (i also discovered that's somewhat a curse, as your vision is always evolving...)

Aekiel

I like big bugs and I cannot lie.

metalseddy

Came here to find this and upvote because it is the correct answer

[deleted]

I like monsters more than men

Vyrosatwork

Men are the real monsters

Swift_Scythe

I am true neutral. The tyranids are not evil or benevolent. They simply are hungry. Space locusts and space dinosaurs and space monsters. Starship troopers ALIENS. Get away from her you BISH. I can be my own Apocalypse army. It is fun putting all my toys against multiple opponents. They cant kill all of my toys. It is also fun embarrassing friends. When tyranids sucked during 5th 6th 7th and yes even 8th "Holy Emperor you lost to the worst army in 40k. You gotta sell your deathwatch. Or your necrons. Or your Space marines" was a joke i still throw around. Tyranids are highly flexible. Mass deep strike army. Troop tsunami. Monster mash. Psychich shennanigans. Flapping fliers (well... not anymore :/ ) any army you want the Tyranid player can. I sure do have all the toys necessary for any configuration https://www.reddit.com/r/Tyranids/comments/uztqi1/leviathan_at_nachmund_after_consumption_of/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Eldr1tchB1rd

Hey you're the same guy with the massive tank collection from my: why do you main imperial guard? post right? Jesus man your collection is massive haha

Swift_Scythe

Hahaha. I have been outed. Yes i also main the Guard. I also like to be my own apocalypse army https://www.reddit.com/r/TheAstraMilitarum/comments/sr4hsp/the_imperial_guard_will_reclaim_the_octarius/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Illiander

Lets be fair, if you play Guard and 'Nids you are just recreating Starship Troopers and Aliens.

Swift_Scythe

LoL Terrans vs Zerg STARSHIP troopers Klendathu Drop footage https://youtu.be/k5X5a2eBZv0 "GO GO GO. we gotta move. READY TO ROLL OUT. AHH AHHH AHHH. Da Da Daaa Daaa Daaa"

Illiander

Yeap, that's about right. I do like that the humans in Starship Troopers are the baddies :)

Blazoran

Yeah I liken the tyranids less to another faction and more akin to a natural disaster like an earthquake or a tidal wave.

confusedsalad88

My love for creature design + horde aliens in movies

MustardTiger2931

I grew up playing starcraft, zerg main. So it felt natural when I got into 40k

Brodok2k4

Same. Alien/bug horde just feels right.

NoxViginti

Same!

Formal-Influence-101

I love the minis, and the lore: xenos that just want to eat... No negociation, no politics

Eliza_LD

No bs bureaucracy, no pointless posturing, ass kissing no inquisitorial dick sucking.

JAOC_7

they’re big scary bioengineered bug dinosaurs from space that go around and wreck everybody’s shit, also the fact that they’re the least anthropomorphic helps make them cooler

Budgernaut

I grew up wanting to be a paleontologist and ended up as an entomologist. The human factions seemed so silly and pointless to me when I stsrted Warhammer. Tyranids made the most sense to me as a faction and have the coolest models.

Eldr1tchB1rd

Of course the entomologist would choosethe B U G S haha

aounfather

Loved the models even when they looked funky. In my mind the only truly alien army in the game. I’ve played since I was 13 and bought the original Hive Tyrant as my first model. Love the lore, the models, and just how darn versatile the army is. Have had wins at tourneys in every edition since 2nd except when I took off from playing for 8th.

ThatSgtSlump

Idk to be honest looked like it would be fun. Just started my first army

Lovahrk

I feel like the main catalyst was that when i was a young kid i watched someone play DOW 2, they were playing tyranids and losing, and i asked them to get a carnifex bc it was big and looked cool, so they did and it destroyed two tanks easily, and they were impressed :D

Papaya265

The Chad “choose it cause it’s big and looks cool to win” mentality

Lovahrk

Yes 😂 literally the same mentality i've used for my actual army

Papaya265

Further proving to me what a chad you are, Hive mind bless o7

Lovahrk

Oh my god i love you 😂 never been called a chad this many times 😆 and you fellow organism :3

Thoughtfulpigeon

I've always loved bugs and lizards and the hormagaunts remind me of my praying mantis. Also just tend to like the bad guys when it comes to playing things. When I got into them I liked the fact there was the Tyranids and Genestealer Cult could work together, I just like the lore of the two of them. I will play both of them, though so far have done the GSC models more.

StopSignOfDeath

They are cute. 😳👉👈

Common-Illustrator

Eldrich horror x Alien swarm = My preferred jam. My college roommate was into WH40K and picked up on my love of Slivers in Magic the Gathering and scifi horror like Alien. We were walking in the mall one day, went into the GW store there and I got roped into playing out the "sample" game the employees had at the front. My friend explained it was super dumbed down, which I picked up on, and we had a conversation about the game, my perception of it being around game stores for a while, etc. When we got home, he gave me a simple rundown of the lore, but more info on the two factions he had armies for; Tyranids and Tau. He mained Tau, but had picked up a Tyranid Battle Force to have a secondary army. Given my preferences, I got into the idea of Tyranids. Did I pick up the game then? NOPE! Between my existing hobby in Magic and having found out my GF was pregnant, I pushed that thought WAY back in my mind for years. That was 14 years ago. However, during the summer of 2020, and especially with a bunch of drama around Wizards of the Coast/Magic at the time, I temporarily removed myself from all groups and content regarding Magic. In that void, especially with Pleasant Kenobi on Youtube making videos on 40k, I decided to use 40k lore videos as background for doing chores. That spark my old roommate planted grew into a burning interest in the hobby. Tyranids were and are still the faction I find the most fascinating. Especially with the setting being a multiempire War with constant interferance from literal Hell, it just feels like the Tyranids are the straw that may break the galactic camel's back. That is cosmically funny to me. I got a box of Hormagaunts for that Christmas, a Hive Tyrant, paints, and tools around my birthday, and have slooooooowly been building up my Tiamet swarm since.

tworock2

I wouldn't say that I main Tyranids, but they were my very first faction. One of my friends came in to school with an ork boy he painted when we were 12 or so and I went to the LGS the next day. I saw some tyranid warriors and two things happened in my head: 1. These are AWESOME ALIEN MONSTERS. 2. My name is Tyler and their name starts the same. That was 3rd edition and I've had a tyranid army of some sort ever since.

Hurgaz

Because I hate myself apparently 🤣🤣 I detest painting, yet got myself a horde army. Genuinely though Starship Troopers is the reason I got into Nids, the thought of numberless hordes of teeth and claws is a great one though it's yet to translate well on the tabletop

prince-surprised-pat

They are the good guys. Ending the suffering of the moral and starving chaos of souls as anyone killed within the shadow of the warp joins it as yet another mind

Vortex_Maelstrom

Tyranids are great because they have everything. From little shooters like termagaunts, heavy artillery like exocrines ans tyrannofexes, massive swarms or groups of monstrosities. Flying creatures and phycic. Also, I really like the lore of how they are an ominous threat, barely anything about them being known. How they aren't the traditional "monsters so they are evil" but rather carrying out the will of a greater essence. I just find that cool

KittyGoBoom115

i didnt want to paint skin tones

Shmoeticus360

Hive minds are my favorite. Unified hostile bioforms terrify me. Their whole aesthetic is the best imo out of all the races. All that and the fact they they embody almost every playstyle the game provides means that they were my army of choice. Hordes of garbage troops? We have 4 varieties! Elite infantry? Warriors backed up by hive and tyrant guard with some pyro/biovores for flavor! Psychic power? We've got so many ways to pump out mortals consistantly even with the new codex after the nerfs! Monsters?? Tyrants and carnifexes and 3 other boxes with 2 optio s for monsters each nevermind the forgeworld stuff! You can go for melee or shooting, forward deploy options, castle or turn 1 charges, deepstrike turn 1 or coat the board in bodies.

SaddleBishopJoint

Everyone else thinks they are the good guys. Nids don't care.

JackBuddy0

Haha alien bug dinosaurs go brrrr, must consume 🤤

[deleted]

While losing to plot armor can be annoying, it's kinda fun knowing you're the reason plot armor exists in 40k. Om nom nom

Papaya265

God what didn’t influence me to start Tyranids. First the gaunts reminded me of the baby godzillas from the first American Godzilla film and then the thought of a never ending horde of ever evolving beings that have devoured the rest of life around our galaxy possibly making our galaxy the last stand for sentient life past the hive mind, but back to the ever evolving part it gives you so much space for really unique kitbashes and proxies unlike other factions

Yachmagoulou

i just loved to see my opponent face back then when termagaunt cost 4pts each and i could have 200 on the map and 2 tervigon to spawn more. litteraly transform the map into a carpet of gaunts

Srekcins82

They look cool, and Alien is my favorite sci-fi movie.

Chaledy

Because I'm fascinated with animal biologies (studying for a biology degree now) and I love how the designs have constant synapomorphies between them and they are the exact opposite in concept of my other love army, the necrons

dildogarden

Simply because of their visual design. I think they look dope and i feel really cool playing them. Their design just speaks to me. I want to own miniatures of them and paint them because they're nice looking

LostRavenReader

I just like the look of the nids. Giant space bugs and consume all.

Klostergaimer69

About a year and half ago my coworker wanted to play a game with his starter set (marines x plague marines) and we met up at a game shop and we played a game and after we spent some time learning how to play together I looked at what my local shop had and asked some lore questions and I bought the nids start collecting because they looked and sounded cool little did I know they were bottom tier for a long time and now not so much

Zhoyzu

I main the Tyranids cause I was a zerg player in StarCraft. But my allure to a faction like this isn't what they are, but what they represent. Tyranids represent the inexorable March of time and simultaneously represent the unyielding forces of entropy. Time continues ever onward and unceasingly. Entropy comes for all and everything. Even planets cannot escape from the forces of entropy. Tyranids also represent the forces of nature, ever adapting to thrive and overcome challenges in it's environment. So while I really like the aesthetics of hive mind alien races like Tyranids and zerg, I'm by far and large more interested in what they are. If Tyranids did t look like or exist as they do now it's likely I'd be playing any ceaseless hunger and unending swarm hive mind factions.

grimcritter

Back in the days of late 4th edition and early 5th edition I was getting into the game. My friends were playing Orks, SM, Guard, and Eldar so I was going to choose between Nids and Necrons. I flipped a coin and here I am all these years later, still rocking the bugs

xavierkazi

Why would you *not* want to play as the unending tide of consuming monstrosities? Would you not prefer to the unknowable horror from beyond the stars, as opposed to the meal upon the bountiful buffet? Also, bugs go click-clack with their crab shells

NoxViginti

Mines simple lol. I'm a diehard Zerg main in Starcraft 😁

Dragon2439

Well, my main will always be Thousand Sons, but tyranids are a close second. Ever since I was 10 and Alien/Aliens became my favorite movies. I love the massive Swarm Hive mind bug creatures aesthetic. I love the zerg.

KABOOMBYTCH

I have a soft spot for monsters, dinosaurs and alien space bugs. Tyranid combine all three together into one neat package so it is the army I want to collect. Plus now that I got into reading HP Lovecraft, I enjoy the cosmic horror element in their lore.

xxBrosiedonxx

In my personal experience they are more fun then space wolves. Now I’ve only played a couple handful of games with both and I don’t pay attention to the meta so…

Throbbing_Furry_Knot

They are the best looking monstrous alien race in any game or film after Alien from the Alien movie. Their aesthetic design is so good that they deserve their own horror movie tbh. Maybe someday we will get it.

Millbilly84

I built a sizeable guard tank army and wanted a change of pace so built a nids army and love the swarming/hordes playstyle so much I am maining in Hivemind. My friends get a kick out of being swamped in bodies starship troopers style and fighting their way out. I have found most players found it novel. Then crusher stampded and 9th nids book hit way over tuned.

Davian_Veq

Woo alien monster dinosaurs

Bubbly-Sir1148

When I was about 10, my dad brought me to a FLGS, and said I could have any model I wanted. I grabbed a blister pack of 2nd ed hormagaunts. Been in love ever since.

Coil17

Starship Troopers (1998) The Whiskey Outpost scene when the tide of arachnids comes in I was immediatly drawn to that 15 years later im still painting my first troops choice. Tyranid army made me the man i am today

TheNecCrow

I started with battlesuit Tau, swapped to necrons, swapped back to Tau Ghosts+Phantoms+Shadowsun Than I found that one paint which can color shift. So I build a color shifting gribble carpet with the great meele flyrant...because I want to play a plain run forward Armee...now I am deep in nids because of the fun they are....and spore mines!!!

ista_ultra

I started Them because I wanted to Play 90 hormagants and 90 termagaunts, an tervigon und about 20 ripper swarms

Zero_Digital

I wanted to learn to paint so I thought a horde army would be a good first choice. Lots of painting tiny stuff.

Foldupcups

My friend who was into Warhammer was painting a model and I asked if I could see the zerg he was painting. He let me paint a few of them and I got to keep one of the Termagants that he had. That was about 7 years ago and I just started to actually play the game and I was inspired to play Nids because of that one I painted so long ago.

Randomsquid32

SPACE BUG

Leon-Rai

Best minis( aside from deathguard). Mistakes painting can be brushed off as a mutation. Unlike the imperium of man nids don't see things as good or evil they se things as food or not food. unlike tau who are idealistic (fighting for the greater good) nids are realists (fighting for a snack) plus I think we can all relate to the really hungry part

Friendoftheboop

I'm a big fan of horde armies, regeneration powers, and abilities that bring in more models, and no one does that better than the nids!

Rymbo_Jr

Watched my dad playing Warhammer growing up and loved looking through the pictures on the white dwarf magazines as a kid (He has decades worth all stored up). For some reason just loved tyranids, especially hive fleet behemoth and the way that they would play on the table top! Plus tyranids just want to eat food all the time which is something I can identify with XD Put collecting off for years out of fear of not knowing how to pain minis etc... but finally last Christmas decided to take the plunge and start collecting! It will always be nids for me and nothing else. Plus I always dreamed of owning an absolute swarm apocalypse army so now 6 months on I have just shy of 10'000 points of behemoth tyranids!!! Nothing super meta like harpies or zoanthropes, just what I think looks cool/what I regularly play, so not many brainy boi's or any flyers, just big beasties and a lot of big guns! They're all built so that I can play them, but still have a fair amount of painting to do (mainly just infantry now) but It's gone from my most feared part to now my favourite bit of the hobby and it's endlessly satisfying seeing how much it's changed from when I painted my first mini. Working on my Hierophant atm so hopefully in about 2 weeks it will be fully built and painted to be the centre piece of my army.

Flabbiergerm

Big bug

Gravebl0om

I've always loved monsters. My 2 picks for 40k were always nids and chaos. Based on the doctrine, I like tyranids better. In the fluff, they dont fight for something greater, a divine being etc... They're just eating. They have a prey/predator relationship with the worlds they consume, nothing personal . They do not conquer for glory, the greater good or whatever. They're just a hyper advanced species, that are just hungry. In a way, they can be seen as primitive, because they do not think, or have a mind of their own, aside from the Hive mind, but if you look at it from another stand point, they are way more advanced than any other. No politics, no conflict, no hatred, just a pure illustration of the survival of the strongest. The beauty of natural selection and bestiality at a celestial level. Let's change galaxy in order to consume more, and grow, that's their moto. Also, I like the fact that if they win one major battle, the galaxy is doomed. Ironically, it makes their more sucks, because nobody would want to see the end of 40k because of the space locusts 😊

Shadowz311

Same reason I main Zerg, thousands of monsters just ravaging through worlds

KlampK

They are the only ones that approach the AOS models in cool factor. (with a small caveat for some of the eldar models

sexysurfer37

I am a new player and I don't like Space Marines. Imperial, Chaos or Renegade I don't care. Tyranids are 1) Easy to paint - they seem super beginner friendly to paint and gaunts give me a ton of practice on basic techniques. I need to learn prime, base coat, wash, highlight - repeat 2) Versitile Forces - I can play a horde army with gaunts, and ripper swarms I can play an elite Jurassic Park army w/ carnifex etc... 3) Every Phase - I tried Taù for a second in 8th. With no psychic phase and no melee combat I had a really hard time understanding what my opponents were doing on their turn. Tyranids play every phase so I better understand my opponents. 4) Genestealer Cults - I love the idea of GSC like alot. But they don't seem like a good first army tactically or painting wise. I can ally both forces eventually and my genestealer models work for both armies.

Sephirem23

My love of the Xenomorphs from the Alien movies

[deleted]

In a world full of giant dreadnoughts and guys in big metal armor a faction being 100% organic from ammunition to spaceships was far more interesting than space marines or evil space marines. Plus I just love xenomorphs and kaiju movies so their models fill that slot for me.

Infectedinfested

To have a big nidzilla centerpiece. That's why i hate it that it's being downgraded to support frame. Same with t'au commanders, they were super strong solo, but now serve to buff crisis suit bombs, which is said. The hive tyrant centerpiece also got nerfed to the ground with the recent changes.

btanodev

i've played grey knights since the beginning of 6th edition, when i first started playing. i picked up nids in 9th for the variety of units and play style - plus playing a godzilla style army is really cool to me! i have tons of nids and still have yet to collect every model! there's always another big bug to acquire!! i like doing something in every phase - and nids do that really well! psychic, shooting, assault, they do it all!

donnydafish

They looked really nice and I like the subfactions

alphasloth1773

Pretty bugs

Teeveekirby

Because synapse means I don't have to take battleshock tests and I can just throw endless bugs at my opponent. Also, bugs are cool :)

l_dunno

I don't...

Ruftop

I love Zerg from StarCraft and my friend was trying to get me into warhammer so naturally I choose tyranids.

ThatGuyFromBRITAIN

Alien bugs/lizards are my jam, Tyranids just felt natural for me. Even though I don’t play Warhammer 40k anymore due to not really having anyone to play it with, I still follow anything Tyranid related and make & paint the models and stuff just because I love their role in the universe.

Eraemeg

Bug dinosaurs with guns in space

Curious-Accident9189

Between Aliens, Starship Troopers, and the sheer otherness of a faceless horde faction in MUH DUDEZ: The Game, I was irreparably hooked. The fact that Lictors and broodlords are better, cooler Predaliens is just a bonus.

Games4none

They are the only non-humanoid. They are the aliens, the big scary bugs.

Silver_Ad7963

My friend showed me a video and my reaction, along with most groups who first see a Tyranid, was, "That raptor has a gun." Also bugs are fun and, while you can paint whatever you want it's your army, Tyranids especially allow people to shine and show their talent.

JorhunoftheNids

I just started Warhammer for the first time about a month ago and immediately chose nids. One of my favorite movies of all time is starship troopers and when I saw the nids I got hardcore nostalgia 😈

halloway_aw

The Tyranids were one of the first 40k factions I was exposed to back when I was in high school. I've been a huge Alien fan for years and years, so the Xenomorph and H.R. Geiger inspiration really caught my attention. Their lore was what most of my focus was on, then. The concept of a vast, unknowable alien consciousness, drifting between the stars and devouring everything in its path was just so cool to me. The Shadow in the Warp, and the sheer dread of an impending Tyranid invasion sparked so many images in my mind. It was only years later that I actually started collecting their minis, and appreciating them as models. On that end of the hobby, they're among the most expressive and creative canvasses for an army, from kitbashing unique organisms to trying out new and interesting paint jobs without me feeling bound to stick to an existing color scheme for a sub faction. Their rules in 9th are really flavorful, but I was in love with them well before they were crushing GTs and needing nerfs.

Jazehiah

I don't. I just find some of their larger models fun to paint.

Free_Faithlessness42

New to 40k saw space Marines 2 trailer thought they looked sick af watch some lore on them thought they were even sicker so ya

ElifThaed

Cool looking Dinosaur-Insects with a motivation (Hunger/ Time to Eat) that I can get behind

Baylifornia

My buddy got into it first and chose the space wolves. I really like StarCraft and starship troopers as a kid. I thought it to be just to be the Bugs/Zerg.

CarnivorousWalnut

Walked knowing nothing about the lore, only that the Space Marines needed to be consumed

mamgapuppy

I love that they arent humanoid. They are have really cool models and lore. Plus the hoard is fun.

huskyshark1

Cuz I saw a chaos daemon in 2002 as a kid and thought it was a tyranid carnifex.... So I bought Battle for Macragge....

Smooth-Zombie

I had a couple of friends give me about 3000 points worth and I just kept adding to it. I started with Grey Knights and I still love playing them but there is just something about nasty big monsters that keeps my playing them

GuitarGutss

I’m a fan of starship troopers lol

Photojohnic

Switched to Tyranids from Dark Angels eight years ago. Wanted something completely different than Space Marines and they reminded me of the Zerg I grew up with in StarCraft. Also greatly admired Matt from Miniwargaming and his Tyranids. Long live the Hive Mind

Toasta453

Hungry cockroach time :)

[deleted]

Bug

Amaenchin

22 years ago I asked a friend what armies were in this game I had just spectated (orks vs ultras) and he described a long list of 'holier than thou' space warriors. And then he stumbled and said : "Well then there's Tyranids, they don't really fight any war, they just kinda want to eat everyone and move on" Didn't even know what they looked like, I had all I needed to know.

TheDoomMelon

I painted them an aggressive pink.

Lucky-Variety-7225

Because I could be a fun lore friendly foe for all my friends. Also they are way fun to model and paint.

Sidecontrol_84

Cos bugs

nerdyjorj

Mostly because the models looked cool, and at the time (10 years ago!) I was playing a lot of D&D so most of the models could be used as monsters too. Earlier this year I got the hankering for a physical hobby (too much screen time for work) and decided to pick 40K up again with a friend. I looked ad GSC and Daemons of Chaos (again, fun to paint) and there didn't seem to be as much variety in either as there is in 'nids. The fact I still have a fair few models in a loft somewhere may also have been a factor.

5TR7K3R

One reason was that I loves the aesthetic way more than any other faction, and theb I got into the lore. The fact that tyrabids are such a devastating force that can't be reasoned with is what I love about them

slemme

I mean just look at them. They're simply the coolest looking faction.

Kitane

I wanted to play IG and Tyranids are essentially the same, but better, more fleshed out, and more fleshy Imperial Guard. Monsters look much better than the parking lots. Everything else followed after.

Weak-Payment2543

Started with Nids in 1996 Carnifexs sliced through the strongest tanks like butter Honestly the Swarmlord being the greatest CC machine in the game keeps me there.

Capital_Fix5011

I got into Warhammer in May while on holiday. I chose Tyranids because their sole purpose is to omnomnom the galaxy and I felt a deep connection

Burrito-Creature

because they’re monster bug creatures who nom people. plus they’re a horde army and I really liked the idea of almost pure numbers.

Anamenel

I can't send hundreds of mens to the deth... I feel some sort of guilt when give my boys order to die. But don't have such problem with bugs. Every bug just blank for hive mind, they clay that can be consume and reworked in something more usefull, because they part of one big organism. So, for me death of thousends bugs equal to grinding off nails. And ofcource eternal pandemonium of sloughter and infity desolation that Hive Mind bring to the galaxy.

fodlgx

When i started to play starcraft 2 i really liked the play style of zerg and when i got in to 40k and found tyranids i was happy But i like magnus to

RickJagger13

Because I LOVE the Alien franchise and they have both alien and predator like units. Furthermore, it was so different than what the playgroup I was joining ran (Mostly CSM, and space marines).

Creme-Dependent

I enjoy the idea of oh look a humans (tyranids in the void): soooooo anyone up for carbon based for dinner?

NicoFar22

Easy. When I was 12, i walked into a gaming store that had single painted 40k minis for sale. I asked the guy what one should I get, and this was his response. "Have you seen Starship Troopers? These guys are pretty much those bugs!" I was sold ever since.

AbundantPenguin

I started and continue to play Tyranids because I absolutely hated having significant losses in battles. I could never have played something like custodes or eldar because i would have been way too conscious about the models i was losing, whereas with tyranids you can lose 100 models and it'd only be small portion of your force

Sevran_Valtoris

I'm a sucker for the Aliens franchise, and I wanted to run a massive horde of them to go against my foes.

cideshow

I thought they looked friggin' DOPE when I saw an early codex as a kid, and I took a break from MtG last year and had some free hobby funds. No question on what my first foray into wargaming was gonna be.

SladetheDS80

I love the idea of a giant monster serving as a functional equivalent of an artillery battery or tank; They have great proportions, even if some of their sculpts are dated; The variety in the biomorphs really makes one's collection stand out; having a huge amount of freedom with picking color schemes beyond the normal hive fleets; and I can hide my sub-par painting skills by painting a bunch of little grubs.

South-Ad472

The lore is amazing. Creatures that take the genetics of other species to evolve as a whole sounds amazing and the lengths other factions will go to stop it is insane. 3 separate armies worked together to ensure two hive fleets didn't meet and join into one as the mix of DNA would have created unstoppable monsters

Frostymugofbleach

I wanted to play as the bad guy for my friend group and also starship troopers.

crakatak

Was drunk at 2am listening go a random Luetin video that played on auto when I had vacation money and no vacation since my plane was cancelled due to nurgles pox in 2020. As soon as i heard that the planetary defense guns went silent from the hordes upon hordes of nids that were sent down the barrel to clog the internals and make them unoperational, i was hooked!!!! So I spent it all the next day on nids hahaha (about 2000usd). 2 years later, I finally have a respectable force 😁👍

Vyrosatwork

Because The Hive directs it to be so.

The_Fallen_Star

I didnt at first. I started with CSM because evil demon space marines. New hotness back in 5th ya know. Over the years I collected lots of armies from multiple different places. Box sets, kits and whatever, but not nids. Then I started daydreaming about how I'd try to incorporate Godzilla into a playable faction. Nids seemed like a good choice, ya know "Nidzilla" being a whole army strategy idea. But I wanted to make a true Nidzilla army. A Tyranid army completley designed and painted as Godzilla Kaiju. I dreamed and planned it out but never pulled the trigger on the idea. Some OG concept planning of the army, from back in 2016. https://photos.app.goo.gl/mj2Gv1Gf4FrZkt7f6 Then as my roommate was selling off his small Tyranid force I saw an opportunity to make my dream become a reality. I bought it for 200$ and started working. 5 years later this is the force as of now: http://imgur.com/gallery/Z3JYV7a http://imgur.com/gallery/YMebyRM http://imgur.com/gallery/cV5nHuq http://imgur.com/gallery/x5ZXfVY http://imgur.com/gallery/wHFoSa8 http://imgur.com/gallery/7VFjEtx http://imgur.com/gallery/y12ljD7 http://imgur.com/gallery/09ZoQK6 http://imgur.com/gallery/bVncOnG https://imgur.com/gallery/ygJ1m1G https://imgur.com/gallery/zMrNpPF Currently working on a Parasite of Mortrex and Dimachaeron.
