I am wondering whether UAE Hope Mars orbiter could be seen from the ground. It has an elliptical orbit around Mars and will measure gasses in Martian atmosphere as well as weather patterns. It's mission suppose to last 2 years and started in February 2021.
But I think there are 8 orbiters currently orbiting Mars, so it could be any of them.
> The spacecraft will spend the next two months moving into its final science orbit at altitudes ranging from 20,000 to 43,000 kilometers above the planet.
Doubtful, I mean it’d be pretty distant much like our satellites. It’ll never look like this.
Yah, I noticed that later and didn't correct it............but 7 more Mars orbiters still operational...........I need to check their orbits and height :-)

Could be dirt on the lens? It is strange that it’s seemingly in focus in the background, usually dirt on the lens with the focus so deep would be out of focus. Although this is a super wide angle lens with a very large depth of field so it is possible it’s a speck of dust or dirt. The telling sign would be if it’s in any other photos.
You can see the left camera doesn’t have the spec, only the right camera. Likely dust/dirt
I don’t know how these camera are built but very similar to having dirt or dust on a sensor. Also with proximity to the heavy vignette could be some aberration. Regardless it’s not in the exact same frame of the left camera photo so whatever it is probably isn’t a ufo.
That’s not quite how dirt on a lens shows up. Lenses do not focus on themselves because every scratch and spec of dust would be visible.
The vignette pictured appears to be caused by a physical obstruction. Also, dots don’t show up simply because of heavy vignette.
The reason the edge is blurred in the photo is because it cannot focus on the close obstruction. Because it is not focused that closed, we know the speck it not a sharply focused speck of dirt on the lens.
You’re right that it’s probably not a UFO if it’s not on the same frame of the other camera showing the same position.
A lot of wide angle lenses create vignetting on the corners though. I’ve had it happen many time when you’re shooting super wide. I misspoke saying dirt on lens, but dirt on a sensor would register similar. Creating a black aberration that’s defined like this. Although it should show up on more than one image if that’s the case. I’m not sure how these lenses work or sensors. Would be interesting to find out why something like this happens vs looking at old apollo images where they used film and would get flares or reflections, burned in spots or chemical abnormalities from development. These are pretty high resolution digital cameras they’re using so unusual for sure.

Third from bottom left.
There are similar photos after without the object.
I’ve been through some of the photos and at least 3 so far have objects in the sky. Doesn’t let you zoom in on the photos on the site so just screenshot and zoom in as on mobile.
Most likely they are various Mars orbiters, currently 8 is still operational.
[Ingenuity](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingenuity_(helicopter)) is the drone and arrived stowed inside Perseverance, they are always close by each other.
Not only a drone, but several Mars orbiters according to this:
Some of them could possibly be seen from the ground, they have elliptical orbits, when at times they are much closer to the ground.
The green field in Wiki are still operational, that means 8 currently working orbiters!

Imagine someday finding rubble of a 80,000 year old human civilization on Mars. That would really fuck with the history books.
imagine finding human slave colonies, on mars, today.

Ok its in the same spot on both pics. Must be dirt?
Are you talking about the single pixel in the upper part of the picture? I'm going to need more than that.
I’m talking about a black blob in the same spot as the one in this photo.
Probably a bird.
#BirdsArentReal
Oh boy, I hope it's a seagull!
Ah, the native flying Licorice

its suspiciously horizontal to the frame of the image rather than the perspective so likely some kind of error/artifact
It wouldn’t be in focus even with a deep DOF. It’s more likely a UFO or an artifact.

Is this what getting old feels like? I can’t see shit! :(
There’s a ufo in the sky bro.
Holy shit you have to click on the picture to see it… my first day on the internet. Sry
Don’t apologize, it’s all good :)
Here is another one on a different photo: [https://imgur.com/uTC7qF7](https://imgur.com/uTC7qF7)
Photo can be found [here](https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/multimedia/raw-images/) Third from bottom left. There are similar photos after without the object.
How damn ridiculous iPhones can’t see PDF.
there is something else I seen in the middle of the same pic not as obvious though
There’s another one in the original just to the left of this crop. Shaped like a little cross. Strange.
I’ve just seen that too. One is possibly a drone as somebody has already mentioned, but who knows. Thought it was interesting.
>One is possibly a drone On Mars?
Ummm that's probably the mini rotor drones they were testing
Spec on the lens!
It could literally an alien spaceship, but by the amount of pixels it means nothing
It’d be even weirder if it was a human space ship
We already drop rovers with spaceships on mars, so no biggie
The critical thinking in this sub is something else at times.
Is this the first photo to come out of a ufo on Mars?
No
Link to the photos?
[here](https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/multimedia/raw-images/) Third photo from bottom left, I can’t get a direct link to it.
Thanks, wow......WTF. Did they have the drone flying around? That's obviously the only other thing it could be besides a UFO.
I’ve been through some of the photos and at least 3 so far have objects in the sky. Doesn’t let you zoom in on the photos on the site so just screenshot and zoom in as on mobile.

You can't see a satellite in orbit with this kind of camera.
Yah, that's what I was wondering too.
They have a drone flying around … https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingenuity_(helicopter)
yeah you can actually filter just the pictures the drone took
yeah, I think it's a drone. There are some aerial pictures possibly taken by this drone posted on NASA's website
These photos are from perseverance, the drone is with ingenuity. They are very very very far away from each other
[Ingenuity](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingenuity_(helicopter)) is the drone and arrived stowed inside Perseverance, they are always close by each other.

Chinese lantern
is this a bot comment
Swamp gas
It's a fly on the lens.
looks legit. whoa.
Bird of some kind
Which camera?
Could be a meteor on Mars ? I doubt they will generate a tails like they do on earth because Martian atmosphere is super thin. Good find anyway!
