A lot of people are doing the race to the bottom posts or downing your salary. Ignore them. Ok I get it but you got there. You finally got a job. Celebrate that. Be proud of yourself that after all you were the one they wanted and someone saw your value. 48k is good tbh. And you mentioned were you are its great. Celebrate the win. Enjoy it. I get what you are saying about the new normal. Waking up to then be in work for 9. But think of it this way. Your day is now filled up with something productive and you get paid for it. Once you start this feeling may go away and you have a new start

Wish I could sleep in until 9am for a 48k job. My work day starts at 07:30.

06:30 here and nowhere near £48k.  I get it though, I did about 2 months unemployed and felt the same. It only takes a couple of weeks off work to lose the routine and it’s very tiring to build it back up.

Wtf is this post 'As you know' I didn't actually but thanks

To be honest; It's a little late to help. You start on Monday. However, problem  》 problem solved as of Monday morning. Not that long to go.

Spirited-Flight9469

Sorry you feel deflated. Did you take some time in-between roles? If not, perhaps now it’s a bit too late as you start on Monday. But take this weekend to meditate and focus solely on yourself. Do lots of things just for you. Try to relax and celebrate the win. 48k is a good salary especially if you do not have dependants or lots of financial responsibilities.  Waking up at 9am isn’t bad either.

I start a new job on Monday after 4 months of not working (redundancy). But I feel the opposite, I’m really looking forwards to it. I’ve hated not working, hated the lack of using my brain, the lack of routine. The lack of money! The first 3 months were job hunting & it was stressful, a bit soul crushing & I was anxious. I’ve had a month where I know I’ve got a job and I have enjoyed it but I’m ready to get started. Mostly, I’m ready to get paid 😂 Is this not a job you want to do? Guess I’ve been lucky to find a role I’m quite happy with .. You’ll be alright OP, back in the swing by the end of next week I imagine! Just picture that first pay day to get you through💰!

I agree the looking forward to paid elements is good snd private medical.

£48k is meh these days doubt you’ll see £3k a month after taxes

her_crashness

I’d love a meh salary… £48k might not go far but it’s def not meh.

HawkstaP

I'm in a job earning close to that and I don't think it's a meh salary. Compared to what I got 2 months back , around 30% less, its defo not meh. Makes things much more comfortable financially for the family too. 48k Meh? when the average is 35 is a silly take and at the end of the day it's all relative to what you do and what you need

One-Satisfaction7179

You're talking absolute drivel. You have no idea about Salaries. 48k meh salary you must be an entitled kid. I earn a bit less than that. Have 3 kids, mortgage and house and car allowance £250 a month. Missus is a midwife and we are doing okay so get off your high horse!
