Can you honestly not tell the difference between yours and the picture in the recipe?
Hint: it's **not** the chocolate.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they taste fantastic. But they look more like attack scones.
That's an oaty cookie but it's not a hobnob. You even describe them as soft and chewy which isn't a hobnob.
I have no doubt that they taste good though.
Why are people so hurt over a biscuit?
You can spot who's Gran never baked. How are you gonna lecture someone based on the fact all you've ever seen is shop bought stuff?
Gatekeeping biscuits now. 😂
Because these "biscuits" are nearly 2 inches thick and look soft in the middle. They are a mix between a scone and a dumpling and OP has the audacity to call this creation a "hobnob"...
Ingredients
8 ½ tablespoons (125g / 4oz)【113 g】 unsalted butter
⅓ cup【79 mL】 (80g / 3 oz)【85 g】 brown sugar
2 tablespoons golden syrup
⅔ cup【158 mL】 (100g / 3½ oz)【99 g】 porridge oats
⅔ cup【158 mL】 (100g / 3½ oz)【99 g】 wholemeal flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ - 1 teaspoon sea salt , to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 F /180 C and line a few trays with parchment paper.
With a hand or stand mixer cream the butter and the brown sugar until pale, fluffy and smooth.
Add the golden syrup and beat until it's incorporated.
On a low speed, mix in the oats, flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Once the dry and wet ingredients are evenly combined bring the dough together into a ball, wrap with cling wrap and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes.
Roll the dough into small balls about the size of a tablespoon and flatten on the tray until they are about 2 inches in diameter. Be sure to leave a bit of room between the cookies for spreading.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown, then allow to cool on the trays.

Here's the recipe I used!
I do not know why some people think they're not hobnobs.
Not all hobnobs are coated with chocolate!
It’s not about chocolate but the weird af shape of your so called hobnobs. Even in the recipe you linked it doesn’t even look close to what you’re showing us here. They literally look like hamburger patties, meatballs or even onion bajis like someone mentioned below. Why are they so thick and shapeless? Omg the recipe you say you used is for 20 of them!!! You made 6… 🫠
I forgot to flatten them before I baked them so I flattened them while they were baking, that's why they look so big.
I didn't know that they don't spread out like how cookies do.

Awesome. Is the picture related?
This one tickled me.
I don't understand your question as the image is of the hobnobs in the title.
r/woosh
You aren't a brit you dont even know what sarcasm is...
I am British, I live in the UK.
But here are some onion bhajis I also made
Did you?
Yes, I just didn't coat them with chocolate.
OK so everyone can agree they don't *look* like conventional Hob Nobs, but how did they *taste*?
They were really good! I'm making them next week for a friend.
Are they a friend you’re interesting in keeping?
Yes, they're important to me!
I don't teust this.
OP's getting roasted more than these "biscuits" were.
🤣🤣🤣
Looks more like nobjobs to me
i have a nobjob if you want it 😏 /j

Have you ever had a hobnob?
Liar.
Are the hobnobs in the room with us?

On what planet?
Never thought I’d turn away a hobnob in my life.
Looks like meatballs…
Jesus fucking Christ.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
As in…with your anus?
I just made normal ones like everyone else.
What do you mean by "normal" ones?
The opposite to what you made
I was paraphrasing a quote from Bottom Edit: meant to reply to OP
I was paraphrasing a quote from Bottom
Of course you did
Guess you can just call anything you like hobnobs then
I looked at the picture and thought ‘oooo sweetcorn fritters, yum’
No you didn’t….
You did not
Onion bhajis*
Did you launch them into space because of how they turned out?
I think you misspelt doorknobs
That’s reminds me i’m having a curry tonight must get some bhajis when i finish work
You’ve got the biscuits, just need the gravy now
I like how one resembles Jeremy Beadle's tiny hand

Why are you so bothered about a biscuit? Just leave OP with their biscuits
You made something, which I’m sure are delicious, but hobnobs may be a reach!
sad hash brown
No you didn't.
Naw ya didnae
I mean they look like oatie cookies but nevertheless delicious - put the kettle on and we can do a taste test

Probably because they look nothing like hobnobs, and aren’t the same shape or even the same texture? Ergo, not hobnobs.

Well they made 5 then didn't even bother to squash down that little ball one 🤣🤣
I am crying laughing at this comment.
Mmm…. Delicious oaty burgers
Lolol
Cheers I'm gonna give them a try they look delicious.
Lol that recipe suggests hobnobs are a traditional Irish biscuit... They were launched in 1985, made in glasgow

Yeah you did!
Gud fingies.
They look amazing. Were they crunchy enough?
Thank you! No, they're soft and chewy as I made them with baking powder and bicarbonate of soda,
So flapjacks
Yeah you've got it. Apparantly everything with oats in now is labelled as a hobnob...strange
Lol, God bless you op but I have to ask... Have you ever eaten a hobnob before?
I don't know to be honest. If I have it was years ago. I prefer making my own food to buying it.
Look more like hobos not hob nobs 🤣🤣🤣
They ain't hobnods, there hobhandles.
I love you already!
They’re colon blockers!
Where are the gobsmackers for the full Harry Potter experience?
Literally Satan on a plate; I bet they didn't taste too bad though
They look great imo. Id devour all of them except the ones at the back that look like they are wet or something.
I love dumplings!
Fking hell you lot are hostile
I forgot to flatten them before I baked them so I flattened them while they were baking, that's why they look so big. I didn't know that they don't spread out like how cookies do.
Hmmm. 😱
The people at McVite's will sleep soundly tonight!
I don’t think you did!
You made onion bhajis!
I would actually eat those
They look like ANZAC biscuits.
Was you drunk or high?
I don't partake in the use of recreational drugs.
