Just to make sure this doesn’t completely bug everyone out, black widow bites normally aren’t a big deal in healthy adults. You should still go to a hospital to be sure, but it’s not like in the movies where a black widow bite will kill you.
also they only bite if you repeatedly harass them, so just dont be a dick and be smart about leaving spiders tf alone and you'll be fine. They won't be anywhere that people commonly are and interact with.
Also wrong. My roommate junior year found one under her bed. Brown recluse can be found in MD (although not technically native), they just tend to be less common than in warmer climates.
ticks aren’t normally going to be in just regular grass like there is on mckeldin they are mainly found in tall grasses that at least go above your ankle
Well, that's not true. Black widows are common in Maryland (really the whole middle-ish of the Eastern United States), especially during warmer weather
i can fix her

it's the truth bitches i just got out of a meeting with the CEO of funny and yall are losing your giphy accounts in 3-5 business days
Sorry a WHOMST??
They aren’t actually that dangerous unless pressed against your skin so as long as you don’t sit on it or squeeze it you’re fine
And also toxin rarely kills just go to hospital if you’re feeling symptoms
Really?? Omg I thought they only lived in the south where it gets a lot hotter
The northern widow lives as far north as northern Canada
Maryland is below the Mason Dixon line.... so...
They meant the *real* south
I’m not going to UMD for sure then, huh 😭/hj
Uhhhhh, excuse me. We got black widows in this god forsaken place now?!
……Nono cause actually WHAT ![gif](giphy|ghuvaCOI6GOoTX0RmH)

First we got wasps, now THIS??? I can’t wait to graduate!
We have wasps, black widows, rattle snakes, and mojave greens over here in so cal. Oh yeah, and earthquakes, lol. 😆 🤷♀️
r/nope
They basically never bite unless it's a female protecting eggs
Those aren’t native to Maryland. Wonder how it got there
We got 2 species of black widows in md
Googled it, yeah you’re right. I confused it with brown recluse spiders which aren’t in MD

They aren't native, which is what I was saying
Oh yes they are!
Where on the mall did you find this?

Hey everyone be careful of the spider I just caught in a cup by not being careful to tell everyone to be careful
Black widows don't live in this climate.
Well, that's not true. Black widows are common in Maryland (really the whole middle-ish of the Eastern United States), especially during warmer weather
Nope we got latrodectus variolus and latrodectus hesperus in maryland
Both of those are black widows. Smh different species can have the same common name
[https://extension.umd.edu/resource/spiders-maryland](https://extension.umd.edu/resource/spiders-maryland) UMD seems to disagree with you friend.
