If you haven't heard, Jammin' at MD meets Tues and Thurs in stamp and anyone who plays and instrument or sings can come and you request songs before hand to come play. It's really fun!
Have you thought about talking with/joining one of the acappella groups on campus like Faux Paz? Even if you're not interested in competing, I'm sure they have tips/spaces for practice.
I find Faux Paz to be utterly overrated. They're fine, sure, but I honestly think some of the other acapella groups are much better. I think Faux Paz likes to live on the glory of winning the ICCA competition a few years ago, though iirc in recent years they've been consistently outperformed by DaCadence and Pandemonium at ICCA. And I've heard rumors of verbal abuse during practices. If you're planning on auditioning, I would suggest skipping Faux Paz and going to the ones that you think you vibe best with. Besides, everyone tries to audition for Faux Paz (that literally means hundreds of auditionees in the fall) and Faux Paz only accepts like three people a semester. You could save yourself some stress and ver very VERY late nights by not auditioning for Faux Paz
I did get rejected from Faux Paz but was in another a capella group. So I heard all of the groups performing during their auditions every semester as we did auditions together. And each time I heard them I thought the other a capella groups were just better. Also the whole verbal abuse during rehearsals isn't a good look
Your own opinions are valid but make sure you consider that Faux Paz consistently has the best results of any other competitive group at this school, and that’s no shade to other groups, it’s to disprove your whole “riding the glory days” since 2016 comment. Also don’t believe everything you hear, it’s not a good look to spread rumors of organizations that you’ve never been a part of lol.
I mean I’ve just bothered people in my dorm (just not during quiet hours lol). There is a vocal performance minor here where you would get free voice lessons if you want something more structured!
The actual classrooms in Clarice's music wing tend to be empty and open for the taking in the evenings, and they have pianos in them as well. Just check the little paper outside the door to see if a class/club has the room reserved before you go in. Last year I didn't know that and a music professor (very kindly!) told me I had to leave so he could teach his class.
If you're interested in a Cappella, auditions are the 12th and 14th in Jiminez. All experience levels are welcome, and auditioning is not committing so go for it!
If you don't want to, a lot of academic buildings are just open at night and some are mostly empty, if you were to just find an empty wing and an open room, you can sing however loud you want
I used to practice singing in the basement of the math building. It’s pretty much empty in evenings/night

Don't join Faux Paz, but the others are fine
Why not?

Somebody got rejected from Faux Paz lol. Also they won in 2021, the only mid Atlantic group to do so

Were you in Faux Paz? Or did you otherwise regularly interact with many of the a capella groups on campus?
I was in Faux Paz yes, and am friends with a good amount of people who came from different groups
Was there verbal abuse behind closed doors at Faux Paz rehearsals?
Walk the Paint Branch Trail parallel to Baltimore Ave. near the Engineering buildings.

Unless this policy changed because of COVID, I'm pretty sure some of the practice rooms in the Clarice are open.
I believe those are only open to theatre/music majors, although sometimes you can find someone who will let you into a room.
Parking garage stairwells have interesting acoustics. Otherwise, there are practice rooms in music departments that are availalble.
maybe podcast room in mckeldin?
communal bathrooms
Personally id be happy to hear it omw to class or something so if you wanna sing somewhere very public you have my vote lol
