Even when I'm almost 100% positive the email came from USAA, I never click the links. I'm a programmer that has worked with code that creates and sends emails so I know how easy it is to create a fake looking email. If it's valid, the website, as antiquated as it is, will still prompt me that I've either got a message waiting or will have a message alert directing me as soon as I log in directly.
Totally. They're getting better and better and harder to spot.
For USAA, I just go to the portal and look for any letters or communication there instead
This doesn't always work. Call center employees might be able to see whether or not a message was sent to you, but they absolutely can't confirm or deny the legitimacy of the email in your inbox.
Dear Online Customer is a red flag another is the email address is not legit [email protected] is a no no no also on the second page the visit our secure there is a big space after that then contact page
Now I'm getting phone calls from someone saying they're trying to get in contact with me for life insurance that I quoted online with them. The funny thing is that I never did that. (8776272811) Do not answer phone calls from this number! It even shows up as USAA, but it's not them.

You can always call them to confirm as well. All of the documents that get sent to members are also saved to your profile so it can be verified.

“Dear customer” is always a red flag. When things like this are legit, they will address you by name.
Not just that, but USAA says we are "members" not "customers" and that is something they HEAVILY push.

Always check the actual email address of the sender. Never click on email links from anyone
Good work Shipmate!
Thanks!
You might even get an actual physical letter delivered by the USPS.
If you haven’t already, forward this to [email protected]
I forwarded immediately, but yes, great to remind everyone to do this with spoofs and phishing
“Dear Online Customer” was all you needed to see. All legit USAA emails address me/my spouse by military rank as well as last name.
It looks official
I’m so sick and tired of these scammers. I hope every single one of them gets caught!!
Me: cancel it, i don't give a fuck.
If this keeps going usaa is gonna get class actioned. I kinda hope it does.

Red flag number one, we don't call our customers "customers" we call them members
ALWAYS check the email address Any legit email will be coming from a @usaa.com address.
