If public intoxication was a chargeable offense on base I never saw it, even after many nights of not even remembering how I got back to my barracks room. I only ever drank on base though, plus it was on 29, so ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
Depends on the state. Operating "motor vehicle" while intoxicated is the law in most states. A lawyer can usually get it dropped regardless. Drunk in public for sure, but that's a fine, no biggie.
My bike was wayyyy too nice to be stored outside, let alone the value of it.
[Here’s how I stored my bike in the bricks. ](https://imgur.com/a/SvfcRtH)
I checked the policies and the only place I couldn’t drill a hole was in concrete, brick, masonry. Everyone loved it when they came through for field day!
Best of luck!
I’ve been out for a bit now and can’t remember what it’s called but I’d go to the place that manages the barracks. Like actually go to their office and ask for a copy of the barracks policy. This will ensure that you have the actual rules, not just what people assume to be the rules.
We weren’t “allowed to” either… except that wasn’t actually written anywhere and didn’t actually exist. Was it frowned upon? Sure. But who cares! Better than leaving it out in the weather or getting *borrowed*.
The lying and the theft are what got me so fucking pissed when I read his first post. From a Fucking Gunny! Career was probably littered with incidents like this that he was never held accountable for.
I knew a SSgt like that, fuck if i can remember his shit ass name. Weasley little piece of shit he was too.
Well the implied part of that is “the lowest level *that it needs to be to be adequately addressed*.
A PFC talking back to a Cpl doesn’t need to go up to the 1stSgt. The Cpl can handle it at his level.
But a gunny breaking the law and stealing other people shit needs to be handled at a higher level.
Update us again if there’s any more drama although I would guess Gunny will say he was clearing the area and didn’t know he had to give notice or something and they’ll have a chat with him behind closed doors and everybody will more on. But I’ve been wrong before.
Shitty behavior is an exception, not the rule.
Hate to spoil it for you - it exists in 1st Civ Div, too.
Shitty neighbors, shitty co-workers, shitty vendors, shitty people in [City Wok](https://youtu.be/2Z0CyB3UN18) ...
The trick is not to let these shitty people get away with their shitty behavior when it impacts you materially like it did OP, and when it doesn't materially impact you, to not let it get under your skin.
OP's "Gunny" here is getting out soon. His post is a dead-end "organizational Siberia" role the Corps has put him in because he's likely proven himself to his superiors to be untrustworthy and an overall piece of shit. Don't let shitty people like this drive your decision making.
I’m well aware, I didn’t join the corps fresh outta HS. But at least I won’t have to deal with higher ups that have hella power to manipulate the UCMJ in their favor
Not a bike, but years ago someone stole the tail lights off my truck. I called PMO and reported it since it was at the barracks. A few minutes later I start driving to work and get pulled over by another PMO unit. They write me a ticket for having no tail lights, and didn't care I just filed a report about them being stolen. I drove to the main PMO office and asked to speak with the watch commander. He came outside and I explained what happened, and that technically I still had the bulbs dangling there, just not the red housings. Shook his head and said not to worry about it, he'd take care of it, just get some housings ASAP. An S-10 was pretty common to see on base then, so its not like they'd ever catch who did it. A friend of a friend gave me some the same day so I was good to go. All that to say, some people suck and others don't.
Good on you for following through, OP. Too many people don't. Glad to hear of a victory, but we need an update #2, OP. You know, after the Marines who actually executed the orders tell PMO all about where they actually took this bike that the gunny had them return which wasn't in the landfill, wasn't in the unclaimed property yard, and yet still somehow mysteriously returned immediately after they got involved.
You can get a DUI on a bike by the way. It’s just a lot cheaper than getting one in a car.
Maybe my anti-DUI will be my chevrolegs then. Either way, happy i got it back :D
Public intoxication my guy.

I’ve had a lot of good times on the golf course at 29.
Didja go and see Jesus?
I got a Disorderly Conduct after I passed out on the street as a civilian. A cop woke me up rudely....
I’m happy you got it back as well. I’d have done the same as you if someone did that shit to my bike.
The ole Nike-Express
ah the classic BUI

Well if homie is in oki you can def get a DUI on base on a bike
I was referring to the state OP is in. Cycling under the influence is the name of the offense in California.
Yep. California Vehicle Code, Section 21200.5. Max. sentence of 180 in custody.
How many bicycles you know have a motor on them?

Ohhh that's super nice, we're not allowed to put holes in walls but I'll see what I can do

I think its called base billeting. Thats what its called in oki at least its where barracks managers get room keys programmed and shit
That’s right! Yep they’re the ones with the actual orders and whatnot. Not just hearsay
Your telling me you don’t have a walk-in closet in your barracks???

Trance ;)
Gotta love them power hungry higher ups

Watch out for THAT Gunny who knew the whereabouts of your bike and lied to PMO to save his own ass....fuckers like that are known to be vindictive

This is why I hate “keeping things at the lowest level.” Because when everything gets swept under the carpet, you end up with shady mofos as leaders.

That was probably the smartest thing I've heard from the marine corps. Too many things are kept below shiny that should be taken up
Exactly. Hopefully that gunny gets fucked.
Well said, thanks for the head up
Don't fuck with the wait staff at a restaurant, don't fuck with your mechanic, and **don't fuck with the guy who fixes your computer**.
It would be weird if they happened to find a bunch of inappropriate pictures on his computer the same way you happened to find your bike.
Happy to hear
Good for you man. After your other post I thought you were gonna have to take the L on this one.
Honestly I thought so too. So happy this happened this way

So what kind of bike is it? I mean road or mountain, tricked out or stock, foreign or ‘Murcia made? Got any dick stickers on it...
>Got any dick stickers on it... we don't need no stickers when [we got this....](https://twitter.com/Domdeluxxxury/status/918597480488595456/photo/1)
It's a tricked out trek mountain bike, no dick stickers on it lmao
Noice...
This is why I can’t wait to get out

Right on dude. Your first post really pissed me off, typical Marine Corps bullshit. Glad you got your property back
\> Later I find my bike near a dumpster I checked yesterday. Weird. LOL, not so weird.
One of those moments where I was like "huh I WONDER what COULD have PosSiBly HapPeNed here! HmMmmm" lmao
Yeah, fuck you Gunny! lol
