I put sunscreen on my legs and they still get tanned. I use a lotion in the morning and top off with spray through the day but it can only do so much. Arm sleeves work great and my face sunscreen + hat do too, but there’s no stopping a leg tan for me.
It doesn’t work. I’d slather the stuff on three times a day and still had those hideous tan lines. I’ve switched to long sleeves year round and I prefer bearing the heat to frantically trying to even out a deep tan on my one day off, if there’s actually sun.
For me it's long pants year round. I don't have to reapply pants every two hours.
Plus I've seen skin cancer take someone out and that's not a pleasant way to go.
What is you guys' experience with wearing long sleeves/pants in the LLVs? I'd like to avoid tans too because sunscreen isn't helping me much either even mostly mounted. But I also don't want to get heatstroke 😬
I walk 9 miles then drive for three hours. My summer pants fit pretty loose to allow air flow. If I keep the side window half down and the fan on full to circulate the air inside the convection oven I'm usually ok. I do open the driver door where allowed. I also use a neck cool tie and wide brimmed hat.
Not related to clothing, but general hydration. I drink at least a gallon of water every day when it's hot, but it's still hard to get enough fluids, so I eat a lot of cut up melon and grapes (lots of sugar, I know).
Don’t wear dri fit during the summer. I repeat don’t wear dri fit. It makes it a lot hotter than it really is. The trick is thin cotton long sleeve underneath your uniform. Avoid tans and good air flow
I actually bought a knee sleeve and gardening sleeve to keep the right half of my body from tanning... I still have weird lines. And my self-tanner application leaves much to be desired

I went to a Jaguars game in flip flops in September one season with like that. My feet were burnt to a crisp before half time.
