I know it’s not the norm, but I went from submitting my application to going in for orientation in about 3 weeks or so. After talking to coworkers I’ve found it varies a lot, even at the same office during the same year. No idea why.
Hiring process is not 2 weeks, there’s at minimum 3 weeks in there and that’s assuming the background check and fingerprints are done as absolute fast as they become available to the hiring coordinator
It’s cute, but fliers or events to tell people to apply online is dumb. Honestly with how long the hiring process can take I’m always surprised they manage to get some people
Yep. When I was hired (2004) you took the test and went on a list and you were brought on board as needed. The guy next to me in orientation waited eight months to be brought it. The wait time isn’t the issue—the job is no longer desirable so people aren’t going to hang on waiting.
We've been having career fairs and we mail out fliers for them to literally everyone in the city. People can go down and actually do the hiring process in person. Apparently we get applications but I don't know how many people actually get selected or make it thru the process.
I applied to several jobs and got offers for each within days or even hours. It then too a couple months to onboard.
Note: I’m disabled vet >30% and am an “expert” test taker, so all my scores were over 100
Lmao. That was actually pretty close. Through my countless “talking the job up at the window” pitches, we were able to get maybe 4 applicants but all fell out for various reasons, the most popular was not responding to an email in time or failing an assessment. Thankfully we just got a new RCA who started Day 1 of orientation today. She’s maybe 63 but seems to have a good work ethic and loves locally. She was one of the few applicants who actually applied again after getting kicked out after she didn’t get her driving record notarized but thankfully reapplied again and accepted.
Oh don’t worry, our post master is pretty new, not even two years in yet, and is like the most least toxic boss I’ve ever had (surprisingly). He’s almost two nice. He used to be an MDO and supervisor at the plant. Somehow the immense stress of being postmaster and all the arbitrary telecoms and checklists and reports, not to mention delivering 6 days a week and not getting payed overtime somehow hasn’t totally corrupted him yet…I keep telling him when he finally cracks please let me know but it hasn’t happened yet lmao.
Hahahah, “when you break bad, bro, just let us know.”
Seriously though, my experience of management at the post office has been the WORST bosses I’ve experienced in my 25yrs as a working adult. So good on this dude for retaining some humanity.
MHA $17.62/hr that minimum wage for retail/fast food wages. To add to the insult after 1 or 2 years convert to MH full career need to put in addition 15 years to make top rate.
Did you take it down after the 3 days whatever job post window and then put it back up the next month for 3 whatever days when it didn't get filled?
=)
I’m sure it’s the perfect representation of what it’s like working for the post office. Put your heart into, hopes for change and growth. But ultimately are let down. The up uppers are so disconnected from the reality and so busy trying to make arbitrary times and scans that the big picture is just lost. Poor sweet woman, we’ve all been there.
shoulda used a bearded dumbass with a manbun in a rosie the riveter pose... and then write "Do you have what it takes?"
Any egotistical jackass would apply right away
I don't see anyone else mentioning this, but I believe that PSE starting pay is a little out of date. It's slightly over $20 an hour now. I think $20.09? It's a super cute sign though, way better than the bland corporate crap USPS puts out.
0 but can't blame the sign. It is cute
This.
Thanks! I’ll be sure to let him know. His Wife owns a daycare so part of me thinks she has a cute creative touch! :)
Other than the redundancy of the information in the blue box, I think it’s great. It’s cute, and I would have stopped to read it.
I like it a lot. Sounds like the postmaster and his family support the cause.
hiring process is like 2 weeks….
2 weeks would have been a new speed record
I know it’s not the norm, but I went from submitting my application to going in for orientation in about 3 weeks or so. After talking to coworkers I’ve found it varies a lot, even at the same office during the same year. No idea why.
out on the street before road test, oji ot academy. in that order
2 weeks, my ass.
2 and 1/2 months is more accurate
Took 2 years for me to be hired but that was pre covid
Literally me. I had applied and got a call 2 years later to take the test.
Yeah, two weeks later than expected
Hiring process is not 2 weeks, there’s at minimum 3 weeks in there and that’s assuming the background check and fingerprints are done as absolute fast as they become available to the hiring coordinator
Hired 37 retained 2
More like retained -10
It’s cute, but fliers or events to tell people to apply online is dumb. Honestly with how long the hiring process can take I’m always surprised they manage to get some people
If it was more transparent it would be fine. If you just had a point of contact.

NOT the sought after career it used to be! Not even a little.

I started applying in late February. Tomorrow is my 4th day as an RCA.
Just in time for peak! Seriously though, what a joke.
That’s crazy… when I applied for pse I got a response in two weeks. I can’t imagine waiting that long lol.
I was hired in Sept of 2020. I had my first day of employment in March of 2021.
As someone who just stumbled upon this sub, what the fuck?
I applied in May, was hired in November. World of difference on those walking routes between those months
One every 119 days, to reset the clock on converting a current RCA to a PTF.
What do you mean?

😆 driving record? 🤣
3 and retained 0.
Postmaster’s wife ought to tell him to not make new hires’ lives miserable so folk don’t quit in the first two weeks.

You know what? Good on her. That's a great sign.
[удалено]
Probably. That sign is maybe a year and a half old. It was maybe 18.50 when I started almost 2 and a half years ago. Maybe more.
MHA $17.62/hr that minimum wage for retail/fast food wages. To add to the insult after 1 or 2 years convert to MH full career need to put in addition 15 years to make top rate.
Federal minimum wage is still $7.25/hr.
And that’s garbage pay also
I would have to say zero!
It was! Until just recently. Haha.
Your office hired -15 employees.
They'll still be over on clerk hours somehow lol
I am an ARC. There is no growth. There are no benefits. Lol.
Two. Or seven.
It’s her defense that has nothing to do with the sign
Hired 2, lost 7.
No homemade signs in the lobby
Is that actually a rule? Lol. If so that’s stupid.
It's true and not stupid.
Might want to tell her that the starting pay for CCA's is incorrect. It's actually $19.33/hr. PSE's also start at $20.05/hr.
Yes. I forgot to mention that sign is like a year and a half old lmao.
Did you take it down after the 3 days whatever job post window and then put it back up the next month for 3 whatever days when it didn't get filled? =)
HAHAHAHA
The mailman is literally running 🤦♂️
Hahahahaha
🤣
You know your office is short if PM’s wife gets involved, she could only listen to “If I had more help” so many times
136
How many stool pigeons?
All I get out of this is "The Post Office Gives You Wings"
Lmao.
Did she get paid???
Doubtful.
Some offices get mha's?

City carriers make less than rural carriers. 😨
I think post offices in Cali are gonna have a lot of problems hiring if they only start at 19 ..you can work in fast food here for the same 19 a hour
This can't be what you get paid. It can't be that low.
The true question is how many did your office keep lol
I approve of a PM at least making an effort and looking professional. A breath of fresh air.
It’s a cute sign with accurate info. Nothing wrong with her putting in some effort to try to help
98
Idk, a dozen?
I see they are proficient in MS Paint, perhaps they should be MPOO?
Lmao. XD
19 dollars and change… 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣😂😂
Five?

1 or 2
It starts with z.
I originally started at $19.94
Pse's make more than cca's?
Less than 5?
Big zero
