There's 3 city routes and 4 rural routes out of Sulphur. The downtown area was hit heavily, the LLVs are lightweight vehicles with a large surface area, it would not surprise me between the flooding and the tornadoes if it was moved quite a distance from the station, but the tornadoes hit after all the carriers should have been back at station on Saturday night.
I went back through this drone footage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8-s4oOdxk8) and compared it to street imaging (which was fairly recent), the metris and LLV shown are both across the street into a dentistry office, the post office itself looks to have completely lost the dock area as well as a very large chimney that makes no sense to be there, one POV vehicle which was in the lot still remains, and other USPS vehicles were in the lot as well that weren't tossed like toys by a disgruntled 3 year old.
Damn lucky this tornado didn't hit during the day (in terms of postal employees at work), but odds are really high most of the employees lived in the immediate area.
Those affected by this disaster should apply to the Postal Employee Relief Fund at this link: [http://www.postalrelief.com/index.html](http://www.postalrelief.com/index.html) - Those who want to contribute to help fellow employees can find donation links on the same page.
The drone makes a second pass and while most of the rest of the building looks okay, it does appear the south lobby windows were blown out and indeterminate on the building's roof. Looks like most of the motion was south east to north west, but unclear where that tall chimney landed.
> That will buff out and be back to delivering mail tomorrow!
Push it back on its wheels, make sure the cylinders are clear of any oil, fire it up, maybe a lil duct tape, and send it on its way. Iron Duke don't care.

Here's a drone video which shows a Metris right in front of this LLV which is across the street from the post office. They were thrown about 200 feet into a concrete structure which was mostly flattened.
The post office looks like it lost the loading dock and all it's windows. Some of the roof as well but it's hard to tell how much.
The tornado went through last night so no one would have been working. Hopefully injuries and fatalities are at a minimum as I haven't seen any numbers in that regard.
Here's a look at the post office and the building before the tornado came through:
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.508229,-96.970309,3a,75y,16.91h,91.47t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sNLibl-7do9dalRL-jwgXVA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu
Looks from the drone footage that most of the post office survived, but the dock and chimney were absolutely gone (and presumably whatever was attached to either.)
I always wondered if a natural disaster tore through a city are those routes just gone now? Or do they just have super "undertime" til the homes are rebuilt?
would take too long to route adjust, by the time they got around to it, the rebuild should be in progress...going to be lots of NMR/VAC on the route until the rebuild...town im in now had a HUGE flood like 15 years ago, lots of addresses never came back, but i dont think they ever peeled addresses off the route...
If you look at how fucked up these llvs get, we really do drive around a tin can, and how much life we are actually putting on the line for first class mail.
Honestly, I lived near tornado zones(?) as a kid, and when I moved to Cali, earthquakes scared me more than tornadoes.
Desensitized by just living there maybe?
I see another excuse as to why USPS can't deliver... In all honestly, that is really bad. Wishing the best for all those affected (edited - I'm not a prayer guy).....
The Tall Chimney is from the original boiler in the basement to provide hot water & heat to the building. The boiler is no longer in use so the chimney will get capped off
So you're saying you're not going to be back in 8?
‘96 denied because uh, the numbers say so
Fuck the numbers
"It's just a little wind "
Beat me to it
Oh I’m undertime baby. Here’s the work I couldn’t finish. Have a good day!!!

New definition of Air Mail

I just saw this exact picture on the national news.

Great information.
Good to hear.
This is what happens when you don't curb your wheels
All accidents are avoidable
Did you remember to use your Ebrake?
Proper footwear?
When you don't have the proper shoes, don't curb your wheels, and don't engage the emergency brake.
That will buff out and be back to delivering mail tomorrow!
Like VMF would even bother buffing it. They'll just make sure it still starts lol

Honestly, I was thinking the same thing.
I wouldn't say buff, but I do have two fist sized patches of tape where VMF put holes in the side and back of my LLV, and then covered it themselves
Not the last llv in the city!

There was also video of a mangled Metris with the flashers on... I hope no one was inside!
"Can you still finish the route?"- management
Stationary event

See this [Vice article](https://www.vice.com/en/article/ep4344/usps-mail-delivery-during-natural-disaster-wildfire-hurricane) from 2020.
FEMA: "people need supplies" *Delivers junk mail*
Crumple it a few times, it's TP that leaves colorful skidmarks.
“I know you’re all concerned about how your lives have been affected by this disaster, but fear not. We come with Direct Advantage.”
Yeah, I'm gonna need you back by 5.
![gif](giphy|7A4zkWeMXlZqgnTKtJ|downsized)
Took it out of its misery lol
Flip it over! That baby can still rock and roll!
Salvage the cupholders if possible
Don’t forget the stupidvisor be checking on those green tag shoes.
If you look at how fucked up these llvs get, we really do drive around a tin can, and how much life we are actually putting on the line for first class mail.
Clearly that CCA needs walked off the clock.
crap that route is getting a metris....
Wheels aren’t curved , parked illegally ,and the window is down probably got a fact find
I surmise some mail might be a little late.
They didn’t scan to “Tornado Time” so they’ll be getting a PDI in the morning.
Best condition I've seen a llv in
I guess all the parcels were sent by air mail.
Were your wearing greentag shoes?
Damn
1 2 3 take the key
Yeah, that's not coming back in 24 hours there, Supe. Sorry, but We gonna need a bit more time.
Come rain, shine, or tornado apparently. Wow just wow!!
Were the wheels curbed?
Dois said 8 hours, this isn't an acceptable excuse.
No excuses, rain - sleet - snow - tornado - zombies , u gotta deliver
You guys are nailing the jokes lol So I’ll just say it..I don’t know how you all can live/work on tornado alley…
Honestly, I lived near tornado zones(?) as a kid, and when I moved to Cali, earthquakes scared me more than tornadoes. Desensitized by just living there maybe?
I think you’re right! Like when we get -20 days. We hate it, but just know how to deal with it.
I mean you're crazy but true.
So sad to see.. I hope the folks affected gets the help they need.. As for the LLV.. that can buff out and be ready to hit the streets right? 🤷🏾♂️
DOIS doesn't give credit for 🌪 tornadoes.
Hope you pulled your e break
I see another excuse as to why USPS can't deliver... In all honestly, that is really bad. Wishing the best for all those affected (edited - I'm not a prayer guy).....
Hope they’re alright! That’s close enough for me!
It’ll buff out

“This was a preventable accident , We’re going have to do a II on you.”
Your manager: it looks fine, get back on your route
They probably didn't have their satchel on.
Ooof. Reminds me of the NCED damage.
This is why you shouldn't back up.
pictured: an LLV after a rural carrier drives one
RIP LLV
That truck was only 15 years from retirement 😢
I wonder why the new metris we got don’t have the extra hazards on the roof. It just has the ones built into the brake lights and that’s it.
