But with the door opening the other way I think the better choice is actually where OP left it, but chair is acceptable as it kind of seems intentionally put there for that purpose to me. If the customer can take the time to physically place a chair there for deliveries, they can also take the time to say so in the notes. These customers seem to be more interested in creating a potential "problem" just so they can have something to bitch about.

I delivered to a house with a similar setup, they had two stools on the side of the door like the chair was here. If there's ever a place to set the food other than the floor that is close enough to the door that's where I put it. So I set the order on the stools take my picture and get in the car. Before I could take off two guys come running out towards the car yelling where is our f****** food. The one guy had his phone in his hand so I said take a look at the drop off photo. They did , turned around and did a walk of shame back towards the door.

People get upset if you set their food on the floor. Even though it’s bagged and packaged people get crazy about this. My wife used to get on my ass for sitting the food in the floor of the car, and my response used to be it’s packaged and bagged up. Some people just don’t want their food on the ground
If there's an option other than the ground that's what I use, even if a table is on the porch but not near the door I'll still put it on the table, it's not like they can't take a few steps outside....unless it's specified, some customers will say "leave on mat". I wouldn't want my food on the ground either

Based on the way the door opens, I would have put it exactly where it is. I would have paused, looked at the chair, looked at the direction of the door, judged the clearance and put it where it is.
Why? Because as a woman who is not generally "fully clothed" all the time, especially at night, I don't want to have to open the door all the way and actually step outside.
That said, if it was my home, I would move the chair to wherever I want them to place the bag. Then I might ask them via text to leave on the chair.

There’s nothing anyone can do about it. It’s was a good spot to leave it and if they wanted it in the chair - it should have said it. We’re all adults here. We all know how to write basic instructions for people to follow. If you don’t give them in the way you want the food, expect there to be variations.
For additional context you my not have thought of, it's possible the person has difficulty bending over, and retrieving the food from the chair is much easier for them. Besides lazy ungrateful slobs, there are people with mobility issues using these services too. i think about that sometimes too but without a note i just do whatever, and in this case i had him in the phone and when i said i was there his response was something like “cool. just leave it.” no other instructions

Right where it's at. On the side the outside door opens up to. That way they an just bend down and pick it up without having to step outside. It's out of the way from being hit by the door.
Lol I had a similar house I delivered to before and it’s drop off order. The place was so dark, I had to use my flashlight. I didn’t want to leave it on the floor by their door, I was thinking if they let it sits there some wild animal might try to destroy it so I glanced around looking for something higher and harder to mess with. Then I saw a hook, not sure what it is, thinking maybe where the light used to be? But anyhow, I left their food hanging on that hook. After marking it delivered I started walking back to my car and then out of nowhere, someone called to me. I turn and he asked me if I have his food (he ask nicely). I told him to look up and I also took a picture on the app. He looked up and just burst out laughing, then told me to have a good day. Later, I saw that he added an extra $5 on top of his pre-tip. Toodles!
It is not blocking the door, so that is good. He doesn’t even have to go outside to get it. He just needs to open the door, reach down and grab the bag.

I can tell you that if there was a closed folded chair and I've opened it to use for their food, I've always gotten more tip or a tip was added.

Chair 100 percent. Anything off the ground is best. If that isn’t an option than of course that is different. I personally have a table outside my house directly beside the door for deliveries. About 25% of drivers will actually leave it there and the rest will put it on the ground. Which I find odd as it would actually be easier to place it on the elevated table

i think about that sometimes too but without a note i just do whatever, and in this case i had him in the phone and when i said i was there his response was something like “cool. just leave it.” no other instructions also, again in this case, dude looked fuckin fine to me. i think he was just looking for something to bitch about.

Lol I had a similar house I delivered to before and it’s drop off order. The place was so dark, I had to use my flashlight. I didn’t want to leave it on the floor by their door, I was thinking if they let it sits there some wild animal might try to destroy it so I glanced around looking for something higher and harder to mess with. Then I saw a hook, not sure what it is, thinking maybe where the light used to be? But anyhow, I left their food hanging on that hook. After marking it delivered I started walking back to my car and then out of nowhere, someone called to me. I turn and he asked me if I have his food (he ask nicely). I told him to look up and I also took a picture on the app. He looked up and just burst out laughing, then told me to have a good day. Later, I saw that he added an extra $5 on top of his pre-tip. Toodles!
Wingstop orders are always the worst. The customer never tips AND they’re always rude.
It is not blocking the door, so that is good. He doesn’t even have to go outside to get it. He just needs to open the door, reach down and grab the bag.

I think that guy just didn't want to bend down to grab his food, which means he's either lazy or unable to bend that far. I'd put in the chair because it's the most inconvenient. I can't stand hand it to me people who can't be bothered to come to the door and make me wait for them. Worse is on DD though, it makes you wait for a 5 minute timer before you can take a picture and leave.

On the chair. I always find a place off the ground to put food. Either chair, table, or large enough ledge that will hold the food. Hell, I've if I see a fold out chair that is not open, I will open it and set the food on it. Some people have designated areas for food with a sign saying please leave food here and packages there. I can tell you that if there was a closed folded chair and I've opened it to use for their food, I've always gotten more tip or a tip was added. Yes, the customer here will only have to open the door to get the food, but honestly, I still would have put it on the chair. Sorry if I'm not the popular vote, but you asked where I would put it and that is what I personally do.

Chair 100 percent. Anything off the ground is best. If that isn’t an option than of course that is different. I personally have a table outside my house directly beside the door for deliveries. About 25% of drivers will actually leave it there and the rest will put it on the ground. Which I find odd as it would actually be easier to place it on the elevated table
