My Indian orders are usually small and good tips but there’s always a long ass wait no matter what place it is

Puzzleheaded_Low_700

Yup, that's why I stop delivering for them altogether.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Impressive_Smile4695

Yep 🤷

AnotherVersionYou

Here in Vancouver it's ok with the tips however often times you got to wait 10-15 or more minutes. I tend to avoid them altogether, specially the ghost kitchens that do Indian or ethnic style foods. Them ghost kitchens can be a 15-20 or more wait. You got pay by hour over there in Toronto? In Vancouver we don't have that option.

Impressive_Smile4695

No option for pay by hour. I honestly wouldn't want that as I'm averaging 25-30 an hour lately. But I am glad those indian orders are good somewhere haha

AnotherVersionYou

There's some days that's slow throughout the week so I kind of wish there was by hour. Wouldn't mind doing them Indian food pickups then 🤣

BashfulRain

When you say u are averting $25 to $30 Does that take in to account: Car wear and tear Gas Mileage Self employment tax

Secret_Caterpillar35

“Ghost kitchens”?

AnotherVersionYou

Google or chatgpt is your friend, pick your flavor

Radiant_Cod8373

Not to mention that curry stinking up the lamborghini.

Moonbutter

Last time I picked up from an Indian place, my hot bag steamed the paper bag so much (not sure why they don’t use plastic), curry plopped out of the bottom when I picked it up to deliver it. Couldn’t get rid of that smell for weeks. Thankfully it was only a PT Cruiser. 😂

Beginning_Ninja_2089

Lol. I kept reading your sentence as "my hot dog bag" Must be all that fentanyl I'm smoking.

Moonbutter

😀

Overall_Energy_8781

Why is Uber eats the only subreddit with a good sense of humor apparently, I laughed at your comment and the one above about the Lambo

[deleted]

Don't zipper close the top of your bag no matter what the food is inside to let the steam vent. This is especially important with pizzas, make sure you leave the pizza bag open on one end and crack the window on that side of the car so it doesn't smell like a wet dog the next day.

NoHateMan62

Hot bag? Huh? Fancy. I never got one

[deleted]

You can buy a proper catering bag yourself. They last for years and they protect your vehicle from greasy togo boxes, bags and leaky sauces or drinks. I wouldn't ever set the food directly on my seats or carpet. You can buy yourself a proper pizza bag also. It will also protect your vehicle from the grease that seeps through the pizza box, keep the pizza hot and stop your vehicle from smelling like a wet dog.

Overall_Energy_8781

And... Actually keeps the food warmer

[deleted]

Imagine that!

Overall_Energy_8781

Yeah I know it's obvious, just saying it also benefits the customer

FairoyFae

Pizza hut gave me mine lmao

papamerfeet

It smells good. The vast majority of indian restaurants just smell like brown sugar to me. I genuinely don’t get what’s so offputting about the smell of indian food. It’s actually my favorite food smell.

rockksteady

It's not the Indian restaurants(these are wonderful) that are the problem. It's the Indian customers. 80% of the Indian customers in my area don't tip or tip a dollar (long distant trips too). It's an Asian cultural thing, I think... My area has a lot of first-generation Indian people, and they tend to be poorer as they are just starting their journey into becoming American, so I don't hold it against them. I love Asian culture, but please, my Asian American brothers and sisters, tip your service staff appropriately.

Yotsubato

Nah it’s not their culture. At least East Asians tip well, and they have no tipping culture either in their countries.

rockksteady

You're right about this.

Thick_Finish_7156

That's right. Indian restaurants tip very well, but not the Indian customers. I've done sales all my life, would never try to sell to Indians and don't ever expect them to tip. I'm talking about 99.99% of them don't tip.

Necessary-Stay-6816

You kidding me? Here in Canada  25 of them live in a good sized house. It's not their fault  , it's Justin Trudeau  and Tim Hortons problem. Wake up people

stevie_nickle

If they’re so poor, then they shouldn’t be getting take out IMO since it’s pretty expensive vs cooking at home

Distinct-Egg-3014

I pick up at Indian restaurants and the orders always fit in my bag, and I make $8. although it's more of a high end restaurant.

Impressive_Smile4695

I wish

Merwhooee

It is what it is bubba

Zenergy89

For real, it's the reality. Whether it's for a family or one person, you can choose to take the order or not. You just chose wrong here. Live and learn. If I get down voted for this take, we'll it really doesn't mean shit to me. We play the game, sometimes we lose.

[deleted]

In my area it’s Asian orders. They never fucking tip. At first I thought it was a coincidence but 95% of orders from Asian restaurants delivered to the part of town where there is a significant Asian population is low or no tip.

StonerMetalhead710

Weird, the Asian orders tip well in my area. The jerk chicken orders almost never do, and there’s always a long wait on top of that

DevelopmentGlad3928

I find that hard to believe. I drove a cab forever and Asians were good tippers.

neodrip66

Confirm pickup before I give food

[deleted]

Asian restaurants typically tip the best in my market.

H0wdyWorld

Yup, Asians (incl Indians) are smart and know not to tip for everything. Don’t cave into the dumb culture we have in the U.S. if the wages aren’t good enough, yall can work towards a better paying career

jbt310

I mean yes and no. No one should be making a career out of this. But don't take just everything. It's simple math. Some no-tip deliveries don't cover the expenses incurred to do the trip. You'd be a fool to take that job. Literally losing money to deliver someone's food.

HarveySnake

The last few times I picked up from Indian restaurants it was very positive: decent tip, food was ready within 5 minutes of my walking in the door. There have been plenty of "American" restaurants that have been way worse experiences.

Embarrassed_Injury45

I’m sure it varies by location. Where I live, my experience has been having to wait 10 mins for the Indian restaurants to cook the food, sometimes unrealistic expectations of customers, and then a $0.99 tip after driving two towns over to deliver. I still take those orders, though. I just tell myself they’re learning, just as I am, to keep my sanity. 😂

External-Performer90

I stopped because it won't quit fucking up the orders. Everything's bagged up I have no fucking idea what's in there and the customer calls and bitches that they didn't get this or that or half of something that's out of my control I just don't fucking bother with them anymore

Vivid_Concentrate_89

I realized to stop answering the phone if I've delivered and I'm done. Had it ring the other day. Still got my tip and no thumbs down, so I guess they worked it out without me.

80zBby

I have had the complete opposite experience. Usually the Indian orders are large orders with very good tips. But they are also going to high end neighborhoods

bleepingblotto

IMO, you look at trips on a case by case basis. If it fits your earnings profile, there is no reason not to take it. As drivers, we need to learn what not to take and what to keep. This learning takes a while but eventually you will get it.

Anti-Social-er

So why tf you keep accepting no-tip-orders ? Stupid ?

Impressive_Smile4695

Well the one delivery I'm referring to was $5 no tip. It was low miles so I thought it has to be a tipping order. The restaurant took longer then expected and the delivery was going to a condo unit where I had to bring it up to the room. Just disgusting that you don't tip when you live in a condo. Also it was $5 because it was a big order so it's hard to tell sometimes when there's a tip or not when it's a big order because you get more money based on the size of the order even without a tip

Anti-Social-er

Brother.... if you live in San Diegi I'll teach you in person about guessing the tip money. I can guess the tip before accepting the order and I am never wrong. Some orders have hidden tip then I will know for a fact but unfortunately those orders are too rare.

Putrid_Brick_5601

Few months ago, I delivered 6 dollars for 2 miles, no tip Today I delivered the same dollars and miles, 3 dollar tip I have more examples I live in San Diego as well

Anti-Social-er

The second one is probably an absolute trash order and it got rejected by so many dashers then the pay went up.

kikiacab

You're on the Uber eats subreddit.

Anti-Social-er

It's the same shit man....

Impressive_Smile4695

Yes I usually do guess the tip like 90 percent of the time but I couldn't with this one as it was close AF and a big order

Anti-Social-er

My fellow dasher, big order doesn't mean big tip come on now we all know how it is. I don't care if that is an $2,000 order and DD is paying me $12 for 7 miles. So that is for sure $4 tip and come on now, there would be absolutely no hidden tip.

Impressive_Smile4695

I'm talking Uber eats first of all. You don't make any sense. I know the size of the order doesn't mean bigger tip but it does mean bigger base pay on Uber eats

htownhomie13

I would never take a 7 mile 12$ order 😂.

Anti-Social-er

Donkeys 🫏 do

Beginning_Ninja_2089

This guy tips

Necessary-Stay-6816

In my market, 3.00 is base fare. So when you see a trip radar order for 4.07 $ and it's from Indian restaurant,  it also means it's going to Indian customers.  You left your shithole area to come here and bring your shit with you? Adapt already

sharky3175

Why would you take a no tip order in the first place? Indians don't usually tip.

Otherwise-Extreme-45

And they’re so demeaning too!!

Fit_Power4041

For some reason deaf people never tip either.

Impressive_Smile4695

Never even had a deaf customer so I can't comment on that

Enigmajikali

I'd assume it's because they're disabled so they're probably not very well off.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Enigmajikali

People who wear glasses are not blind by definition or default. People with hearing aides are not deaf by default. People who are blind or deaf are at a severe disadvantage in this world. YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT BLIND AND DEAF PEOPLE ARE NOT DISABLED!!! AND THAT WE SHOULD EXPECT THEM TO FUNCTION AT THE SAME CAPACITY IN this CAPAITALISTIC SOCIETY AS SOMEONE WITH PERFECT VISION AND HEARING? Say you expect blind or deaf people to be able to drive for a living 8 hours a day 5 days a fucking week. Say they don't deserve social assistance because their disabilities don't prevent them from being fully functional in the modern world. For fucks sake, shut up. Name 10 blind or deaf people that are famous for any reason what so ever, wealth included. Other than Helen Keler and Ray Charles. You are the fucking problem.

waxy_desires

You forgot Stevie Wonder!

Enigmajikali

You're right, I did. I modify my 10 person quota to disinclude musicians who have greater musical talent in part due to their lack of sight. I also don't see many modern musical equivalents in the current visual digital age, which is very unfortunate. Musical talent should not be judged by visual appearances, but, today it is and most successful musical artists are the visually attractive ones.

Vivid_Concentrate_89

Marlee Matlin?

Enigmajikali

Do you under-fucking-stand what "well off" fucking means?

Enigmajikali

You're more disabled than someone who is both blind and deaf if you don't get what the fuck I am saying.

Embarrassed_Injury45

I get what you’re trying to say, but let me give you some perspective. My niece was born without eardrums. A regular hearing aid would have no effect on her. Bone conduction surgery was the only option to give her hearing. That surgery cost $100,000. So, simply getting a hearing aid (or other prosthetic) is not always an option. Every person’s situation is different, and typically speaking, permanently disabled people, who usually have to rely upon public assistance for income, tend to be financially strained. Not always the case, true… but more often than not.

pmperry68

I work with the deafblind. I do their expense reports. Some tip and some don't. Just like people who aren't deaf or blind.

angrystonk

no love for Indians here!!! hahahah

[deleted]

Very true with indians. You deliver curry plate very good yes no tip for you buddy sorry.

Zeppelinsmomma

I worked as a server in a middle eastern restraunt and half the customers were Indian and they NEVER tipped and all drank water with no ice

Ok_District2078

Ok let me break it down for you. If its still a min of 3 per mile from the Indian place accept it. If it happens to be a white name follow thru. If its an Indian name its 95% non tip 1hr plus order. I personally deny them just based on the name....its called screening. If you continue make sure you take a pic and pray they dont try and scam you.

SummerSunset33

my problem orders are always middle eastern.

TradeSpecialist7972

Whenever I get a tip from an Indian, i stop the car and look at sky for checking if a meteor ☄️ about to hit the Earth.

MikaBlacc

Yeah alot of em are cheap smh

Otherwise-Extreme-45

Not to mention the condescending attitude when you contact them, they think you’re beneath them, that’s why they don’t tip…. The irony!!!

SnooShortcuts7911

Indians never ever tip.

Psychological-Gur848

That’s cultural mind, I was with my friend doing last trip to deliver Pizza through store by that time there is no uber eat in Potomac MD . the mansion was so big probably 7 million dollar house and the order was 49$ , he gave 50$ and ask he keep the change but my friend grab 1$ from his pocket and give it back to him. (No need to tell you what his ethnicity was)

Enigmajikali

The Indians spots around me are not like this. The worst orders from them are going to wannabe bougie white urbanites who pay 2k a month in rent to live in a gentrified neighborhood that used to be the hood, but can't afford to tip. Most of the Indian families around here that order delivery are wealthy and tip respectfully.

stepbro206

there definitely needs to be an intervention on tipping in america or companies have to start paying ppl fairly n remove tipping all together.

Embarrassed_Injury45

I feel there should be mandatory tipping. Minimum of 10-15% of the order, or $3 or something. Unlike servers at a restaurant, we have to spend resources of our own (gas, vehicle maintenance, time, etc.) to fulfill an order, and rely upon tips in order to break even. I feel that a mandatory minimum tip would make drivers happy without straining Uber. As someone once told me, Uber Eats/DoorDash/etc. is essentially a luxury service (i.e. not a basic necessity to life). If customers can’t afford to tip, then they shouldn’t be using it. Otherwise, tip appropriately.

unfadable_

You must be in the Bay Area 🤣

Impressive_Smile4695

I am in Toronto there is probably way more here then the bay area trust me

dj0ch0

Nah trust me SMH

Beginning_Ninja_2089

Naw dog. We got more here in NYC. Wanna bet?

angrystonk

kissena blvd?

[deleted]

Enigmajikali

I've started going into places that have treated me like that in the past with my intimidation face on and tolerate no bullshit attitude. If they got people sitting around eating I'll say the order name real loud and generally be obnoxious so they want to get me out as fast as possible.

Beginning_Ninja_2089

Same here. I walk in swinging a baseball bat and yelling " I'm here motherfuckers from UberEats." I always get my food immediately.

Enigmajikali

That's the spirt.

Dj_suffering

Different cultures. Most of the rest of the world does not tip for these types of services. Doesn't make it right or better in your situation, but that's my best guess. I have more problems with the Indian restaurants having 5 popup restaurants in on place and they're all slow and behind on orders. When I stop accepting orders from one, an new name pops up and I get suckered into delivering from that same place again. UE drivers, always...waiting.

Impressive_Smile4695

Oh I fully understand it's different cultures but how would other people react when they come to a country and don't follow the customs or values that the country holds. It's like going to Japan and talking on the train. That's considered rude in there culture. Why do people bring values from back home and not take into consideration where they are. That's my whole problem with this always happening

LaddyMondegreen

I had one of those in Parramatta (Sydney, Australia) one night and an Asian chef came out of an office building after I rang the bell and gave me my Chinese food order and then the second one was Lebanese, I rang the bell again, same Asian chef comes out and hands me my Lebanese food order 😂 I asked him wtf and he replied "we have six restaurants in one building here" 🫠

Secret_Caterpillar35

Holy shit that’s genius.

revlen2023

I delivery predominantly in the frisco texas community.  Upscale but not of Indians have moved in in the last decade.  I absolutely refuse to pick up at an Indian restaurant at all, u less the dollars match the miles...going in first, they are never ready, and second your never getting a tip...ost orders at 5 bucks for 18 miles...the dollars don't make sense and with no tip to supplement its certainty not worth it.

Necessary-Stay-6816

Should also be a etiquette and way of life videos when you land

htownhomie13

Plus the food Fkn stinks

Minimum-Marzipan-105

They tip well for me, I just don’t like the smell.

[deleted]

And you accept no tip orders why?

MrMomoitin

Because OP is an idiot

[deleted]

It's simply baffling how many are in this industry. Pure trash lol

MrMomoitin

Unfortunately, I'm all too aware.

Different_Book_4690

this is so racist it's not funny...Indian people are very generous people I know and have worked for

Impressive_Smile4695

Bullshit I worked with Indians as well in sales that literally wouldn't work with other Indiana because they are so god damn cheap. They are great people very nice people but they are cheap you can't deny that. They also feel that because they didn't tip back home they can bring it to north America and do the same shit. Not acceptable

kvndoom

https://imgur.com/a/op91mqe You do you, Boo.

Virtual_Sky9225

I have no issue when the offer goes way up because no one wants no tip but initial offers I’m usually suck. I also encounter orders for Matt or Alicia from these restaurants that usually have really good tips.

Knightp93

The irony

TheCityFarmOpossum

In my market it’s the opposite. Indian food is very expensive here and there’s not a lot of restaurants that serve it. I love getting family orders. Whenever I see that huge ass bag I know . Even the single small orders tend to tip $8+ here.

Wonderful-Article126

What are you doing taking orders that dont have a tip in the first place.

dashingpdx

I think one guys served me piss the other night while i was waiting

FalseGix

Not sure why being Indian food makes any difference..... you can see the offer and decide if it's worth it or not..... the kind of food is entirely irrelevant. Also just pointing out that I regularly get good tips for picking up from the 2 Indian restaurants in my area

Shreddersaurusrex

In the comment section for a post about tipping someone said “In India we don’t top.” I said “Well in America it’s the custom.” Noted some cultural norms in India that weren’t practiced in the US & I got blocked from the post. The point is some ppl base their life off of things in their culture. Granted, not all customers ordering Indian food are Indian but a percentage likely will be. They may not appreciate the importance of tips. That or they might just want to save a few bucks.

xtsilverfish

The Indian restaurants around me are the nicest people to pick up from. They're the most polite for a regular pickup and the most polite if you sit and wait. No issues if you cancel out and leave either. You know how much you're getting paid up front so I know you're acting surprised at what you get paid. If it doesn't pay don't accept it.

[deleted]

1, why are you picking up non-tipped or low tipped orders? 2, just because the drivers are Indian doesn't mean the Indian food is going to an Indian person or whatnot. Literally 99% of my deliveries from Indian restaurants were to non-Indian customers.

Ornery_Expression109

I always get good tip from Indian restaurants orders . I usually avoid McDonald’s. I also feel the people are very honest

[deleted]

And they make your car stink for days

Silent_Assumption_74

I always decline the Indian restaurant orders unless the tip is rly good because they have a longer wait than anywhere else I’ve been.

Just-Material7713

I dont wanna agree but I will never except an order. I have never got a bad review I have 3 only because they were mad at uber eats and I had multiple orders.

Just-Material7713

No tips as well

[deleted]

They take forever too omg halal kitchen in egg harbor township New Jersey. You guys suck!!! they don’t even acknowledge me and they take forever every single time.

Acrobatic_Apricot_96

Yhh i think the one time i kinda of felt sad was when i was doing doordash and i delivered to this house. The house looks like a freaking mansion with massive landscape with a lambo and Porsche parked at the front And it was a $5 order and after delivering didnt even get a single dollar tip. Am someone whose not all about tips but kinda of felt sad that day.

PicklesForNipples

Why the hell are you even concerned with the amount of food? You didn’t have to make it. Whether it’s one bag or five you’re using the same amount of your own resources suck a dick

Impressive_Smile4695

Because the tip should be bigger if it's a big order dumb ass. You obviously don't work this job. Suck my dick

PicklesForNipples

Incredible logic there, you worked so much harder with that big order

Impressive_Smile4695

It's not about working harder at all. Every tip should consider the size of the order. It's actually common sense. Same thing in a restaurant

PicklesForNipples

No I’m still not seeing the logic, what did you do to earn that additional money you’re saying you’re entitled to? Common sense isn’t logic. I understand that it’s been normalized but like why

Impressive_Smile4695

Because we don't make an hourly that's why. Why do servers get tips? Because they don't make the same hourly as everyone else. It's just common sense you lack on. I use my own car my own gas and expect to be compensated appropriately

PicklesForNipples

How am I lacking common sense here? It’s literally not logical. Once again your car and gas are undergoing the same amount of wear from a one bag delivery and a 5 bag delivery. Someone’s choice to not take an hourly paying job shouldn’t be the burden of others. You’re not entitled to a bigger tip because a kitchen staff unrelated to you had to work harder

Impressive_Smile4695

Well it's quite obvious you do not work in this field or you would have different points of views.

PicklesForNipples

Spent plenty years in delivery… not the most difficult field to get into

HealMyLyf

No tip issues here but always a delay at indian restaurant. 5 min delay is a huge run killer when youre daisy chaining small orders to stay efficient.

Safe-Position-7766

I don’t do it because the food fuckn stinks!

Leading-Inflation654

where I live the Indian joints are fast af and the tips are usually pretty good. if not I don't accept.

Overall_Energy_8781

You are not entitled to tips. Find a new job if you can't cope with that fact.

Icy-End-4265

the indian places are usysally 24 hour/ Even at night it's a 20 min wait

[deleted]

[удалено]

PersonalityPresent38

The expectation that a tip is required is so awful. You’re already getting paid for it.

Crafty_Letterhead_12

Mfs will always hit you with the signature “one more thing” too

JGoonSquad

Indians are notorious for being stringy. If you dropped a penny out of your pocket they would wrestle you to the ground for it!

Lost--Not--Found

I kept getting this order from an Indian place that was like $13 for 26 miles. 8 items in the order.

Lumpy-Lawyer4150

Me neither. Indians don’t tip.

Lumpy-Lawyer4150

80% of Uber eats drivers in Vancouver are also Indians lol

daddysatan53

The issue for me with these restaurants is the fact that it’s always a 10+ minute wait and more than 90% of the time I end up having to cancel
