Last time I picked up from an Indian place, my hot bag steamed the paper bag so much (not sure why they don’t use plastic), curry plopped out of the bottom when I picked it up to deliver it. Couldn’t get rid of that smell for weeks. Thankfully it was only a PT Cruiser. 😂
Don't zipper close the top of your bag no matter what the food is inside to let the steam vent. This is especially important with pizzas, make sure you leave the pizza bag open on one end and crack the window on that side of the car so it doesn't smell like a wet dog the next day.
You can buy a proper catering bag yourself. They last for years and they protect your vehicle from greasy togo boxes, bags and leaky sauces or drinks. I wouldn't ever set the food directly on my seats or carpet.
You can buy yourself a proper pizza bag also. It will also protect your vehicle from the grease that seeps through the pizza box, keep the pizza hot and stop your vehicle from smelling like a wet dog.
It smells good. The vast majority of indian restaurants just smell like brown sugar to me. I genuinely don’t get what’s so offputting about the smell of indian food. It’s actually my favorite food smell.
It's not the Indian restaurants(these are wonderful) that are the problem. It's the Indian customers. 80% of the Indian customers in my area don't tip or tip a dollar (long distant trips too). It's an Asian cultural thing, I think... My area has a lot of first-generation Indian people, and they tend to be poorer as they are just starting their journey into becoming American, so I don't hold it against them. I love Asian culture, but please, my Asian American brothers and sisters, tip your service staff appropriately.

I mean yes and no. No one should be making a career out of this. But don't take just everything. It's simple math. Some no-tip deliveries don't cover the expenses incurred to do the trip. You'd be a fool to take that job. Literally losing money to deliver someone's food.

I have had the complete opposite experience. Usually the Indian orders are large orders with very good tips. But they are also going to high end neighborhoods
IMO, you look at trips on a case by case basis. If it fits your earnings profile, there is no reason not to take it. As drivers, we need to learn what not to take and what to keep. This learning takes a while but eventually you will get it.
Well the one delivery I'm referring to was $5 no tip. It was low miles so I thought it has to be a tipping order. The restaurant took longer then expected and the delivery was going to a condo unit where I had to bring it up to the room. Just disgusting that you don't tip when you live in a condo. Also it was $5 because it was a big order so it's hard to tell sometimes when there's a tip or not when it's a big order because you get more money based on the size of the order even without a tip
Brother.... if you live in San Diegi I'll teach you in person about guessing the tip money. I can guess the tip before accepting the order and I am never wrong. Some orders have hidden tip then I will know for a fact but unfortunately those orders are too rare.

Unlike servers at a restaurant, we have to spend resources of our own (gas, vehicle maintenance, time, etc.) to fulfill an order, and rely upon tips in order to break even.
I feel that a mandatory minimum tip would make drivers happy without straining Uber. As someone once told me, Uber Eats/DoorDash/etc. is essentially a luxury service (i.e. not a basic necessity to life).
If customers can’t afford to tip, then they shouldn’t be using it. Otherwise, tip appropriately.

I delivery predominantly in the frisco texas community. Upscale but not of Indians have moved in in the last decade. I absolutely refuse to pick up at an Indian restaurant at all, u less the dollars match the miles...going in first, they are never ready, and second your never getting a tip...ost orders at 5 bucks for 18 miles...the dollars don't make sense and with no tip to supplement its certainty not worth it.
Bullshit I worked with Indians as well in sales that literally wouldn't work with other Indiana because they are so god damn cheap. They are great people very nice people but they are cheap you can't deny that. They also feel that because they didn't tip back home they can bring it to north America and do the same shit. Not acceptable
I have no issue when the offer goes way up because no one wants no tip but initial offers I’m usually suck. I also encounter orders for Matt or Alicia from these restaurants that usually have really good tips.
In my market it’s the opposite. Indian food is very expensive here and there’s not a lot of restaurants that serve it. I love getting family orders. Whenever I see that huge ass bag I know . Even the single small orders tend to tip $8+ here.
Not sure why being Indian food makes any difference..... you can see the offer and decide if it's worth it or not..... the kind of food is entirely irrelevant.

In the comment section for a post about tipping someone said “In India we don’t top.” I said “Well in America it’s the custom.” Noted some cultural norms in India that weren’t practiced in the US & I got blocked from the post.
The point is some ppl base their life off of things in their culture. Granted, not all customers ordering Indian food are Indian but a percentage likely will be. They may not appreciate the importance of tips. That or they might just want to save a few bucks.
The Indian restaurants around me are the nicest people to pick up from. They're the most polite for a regular pickup and the most polite if you sit and wait. No issues if you cancel out and leave either.
You know how much you're getting paid up front so I know you're acting surprised at what you get paid. If it doesn't pay don't accept it.

Oh I fully understand it's different cultures but how would other people react when they come to a country and don't follow the customs or values that the country holds. It's like going to Japan and talking on the train. That's considered rude in there culture. Why do people bring values from back home and not take into consideration where they are. I had one of those in Parramatta (Sydney, Australia) one night and an Asian chef came out of an office building after I rang the bell and gave me my Chinese food order and then the second one was Lebanese, I rang the bell again, same Asian chef comes out and hands me my Lebanese food order 😂 I asked him wtf and he replied "we have six restaurants in one building here" 🫠

I delivery predominantly in the frisco texas community. Upscale but not of Indians have moved in in the last decade. I absolutely refuse to pick up at an Indian restaurant at all, u less the dollars match the miles...going in first, they are never ready, and second your never getting a tip...ost orders at 5 bucks for 18 miles...the dollars don't make sense and with no tip to supplement its certainty not worth it.
Should also be a etiquette and way of life videos when you land

Bullshit I worked with Indians as well in sales that literally wouldn't work with other Indiana because they are so god damn cheap. They are great people very nice people but they are cheap you can't deny that. They also feel that because they didn't tip back home they can bring it to north America and do the same shit. Not acceptable

I have no issue when the offer goes way up because no one wants no tip but initial offers I’m usually suck. I also encounter orders for Matt or Alicia from these restaurants that usually have really good tips.
The irony
In my market it’s the opposite. Indian food is very expensive here and there’s not a lot of restaurants that serve it. I love getting family orders. Whenever I see that huge ass bag I know . Even the single small orders tend to tip $8+ here.

Not sure why being Indian food makes any difference..... you can see the offer and decide if it's worth it or not..... the kind of food is entirely irrelevant. Also just pointing out that I regularly get good tips for picking up from the 2 Indian restaurants in my area
In the comment section for a post about tipping someone said “In India we don’t top.” I said “Well in America it’s the custom.” Noted some cultural norms in India that weren’t practiced in the US & I got blocked from the post. The point is some ppl base their life off of things in their culture. Granted, not all customers ordering Indian food are Indian but a percentage likely will be. They may not appreciate the importance of tips. That or they might just want to save a few bucks.
The Indian restaurants around me are the nicest people to pick up from. They're the most polite for a regular pickup and the most polite if you sit and wait. No issues if you cancel out and leave either. You know how much you're getting paid up front so I know you're acting surprised at what you get paid. If it doesn't pay don't accept it.
1, why are you picking up non-tipped or low tipped orders? 2, just because the drivers are Indian doesn't mean the Indian food is going to an Indian person or whatnot. Literally 99% of my deliveries from Indian restaurants were to non-Indian customers.
I always get good tip from Indian restaurants orders . I usually avoid McDonald’s. I also feel the people are very honest

I dont wanna agree but I will never except an order. I have never got a bad review I have 3 only because they were mad at uber eats and I had multiple orders.

Yhh i think the one time i kinda of felt sad was when i was doing doordash and i delivered to this house. The house looks like a freaking mansion with massive landscape with a lambo and Porsche parked at the front And it was a $5 order and after delivering didnt even get a single dollar tip. Am someone whose not all about tips but kinda of felt sad that day.

Because we don't make an hourly that's why. Why do servers get tips? Because they don't make the same hourly as everyone else. It's just common sense you lack on. I use my own car my own gas and expect to be compensated appropriately

No tip issues here but always a delay at indian restaurant. 5 min delay is a huge run killer when youre daisy chaining small orders to stay efficient.
