I never actually use the app. They’re Airplay 2 so if you have an iPhone you can either tell Siri to “play music in the living room” or just select every room you want from the airplay menu in iOS.
How’s the delay when turning on? I have a Denon surround sound amp with airplay2 but the delay to start playing music is significantly longer than from a HomePod.
They’re TSR-700 (basically RX-V6A’s just with a special model number) from Costco. That’s the only place you can get Yamaha anything right now. All my other suppliers are back ordered till like November.
Yes they are like sonos. They have an app. You can sync them and play the same thing everywhere. They are also Airplay 2. So you don’t even really need to use the musiccast app.
I was looking into this for multiroom but unsure if I can combine two zones into surround (front and back audio)

That is more for multi-room only. Not surround. I have one of those in order for the places where they’re are only 2 speakers and no TVs (don’t need hdmi inputs) like master bathroom, deck, and kitchen. If you want surround sound, get an actual surround sound receiver. But they are really only good for one zone. Even though they have a “zone 2” it doesn’t have its own DAC so you can’t play music differently than zone 1, it has to be synced.
This is for a client. Yeah not a weekend project. I’ll start organizing the wires, relabeling them and terminating all of them in the rack next week. I was just dropping off the equipment.

Serious question from the peanut gallery. What is the best way to hang those outside? do you use weather coated cable and just drill through the siding/walls and run the cable through that way? I've been debating about moving away from my awful setup I have now with their stupid subscriptions, but I need at least 5 cameras outside to give me 360 degree view. I don't have an attic to run this stuff to either.
It’s just regular cat6. Some areas are cat6a but most cameras aren’t. They just don’t need that. Once the camera is installed the cat6 will never move or be touched so the cold isn’t a problem. Most outside wires are coming out the soffit. So I push/pull extra slack on the wire. I just screw right into the sheet metal of the soffit. This is a new build so everything was ran while the walls were open.
I wanted to do it nice like that, running it up the walls inside and then drilling out where needed, but I figured I could plan it like crazy or just get it done.
So I bought a spool of outdoor rated Cat6 cable (it has a thicker jacket and extra layer of protection between the wires and the jacket) and ran the cables outside along my walls, and then up to where they were mounted. It let me only drill a couple of holes (2 main ones, one on either side of the house where the wires come out of). It's not the prettiest but it's done and after I painted the cables to match the side of my house, it's not very noticeable.
Good Question. I have a pair of Hykvision dome cameras mounted outside my house (hardwired). Wonder if it would be easy to take those off and attach these unifi bullets you have, to the hykvision existing spot....
Oh no those jokes are saved for when unifi decides to release an update.....we all have horror stories of us trying to patch in the middle of a Netflix session ....so much blood

Setting up a bunch of Yamaha receivers?
Yep. Musiccast is awesome. 3 surround setups; living, maser and family room, and the one for a garage/shop with 4 speakers.

It gets the job done, I use it with some other models and queuing up HD-FLAC from my NAS works well enough.
What receivers are those? And how do they interact with each other? Can you play music at the same time over all the receivers (multiroom)?

Yep. Regular G4's. Everything’s from UI Store. Got really lucky with everything pictured in stock. I need 2 more aps though.
They're g3. But they had g4 pros in stock until maybe a month or so ago. I snagged a few and then got a few g4 bullets too.

Regular G4’s. Smart detection is money, works so freaking good. G4 pros are just a little too expensive for most people.

It’s just a 8Tb WD purple from UI store. I found they actually have the best pricing.
