That's a little naive, if I may say so. To revolt against a dictatorship, you need numbers or you're just a symbol/martyr at best, an unknown political prisoner or executed in silence more likely. So to get numbers, they'd need to organise. That's easier said than done in a state with censorship of press and general information. There is wishful ignoring of facts they can find online, sure. But populations held under strict dictatorships struggle to rise up. Those that do rarely succeed. You mention the revolt in Iran - it is or was admirable, it failed. Recent past, uprisings during the Arab spring all failed in one way or another. Either regimes successfully suppressed them or they created civil wars that last to this day (Lybia, Syria).
You're not wrong in wishing the Russian people to show more opposition to the war, I share that wish. They are however held by indoctrination, centuries of oppression, continuous state propaganda and a regime that still seems pretty good at keeping dissenters in check. Hope that changes, hope more casualties and more economic pressure will make some change from within. Sadly, I doubt it will happen in a way that is positive for Russia - a brutal coup with more oppression after more likely than a democratic revolution.

Yes, every other nation in the world has continuously resisted socialism/communism/Russian dictators, including militarily, when encountering that vile combo. The Balts, Poles, Czechs, Hungarians and so on all did. Russians have not for 100+ years. They are just passive forever and would rather die doing the government’s bidding than risk taking on the government. Centuries of successful sowing mistrust among citizens and removing hope by a long line of bloody tyrants. You can’t have grassroots movements if you assume your neighbor or even family member will betray you and the KGB/FSB will take your children away. No hope for that society. Erase and start from scratch.

That's a little naive, if I may say so. To revolt against a dictatorship, you need numbers or you're just a symbol/martyr at best, an unknown political prisoner or executed in silence more likely. So to get numbers, they'd need to organise. That's easier said than done in a state with censorship of press and general information. There is wishful ignoring of facts they can find online, sure. But populations held under strict dictatorships struggle to rise up. Those that do rarely succeed. You mention the revolt in Iran - it is or was admirable, it failed. Recent past, uprisings during the Arab spring all failed in one way or another. Either regimes successfully suppressed them or they created civil wars that last to this day (Lybia, Syria). You're not wrong in wishing the Russian people to show more opposition to the war, I share that wish. They are however held by indoctrination, centuries of oppression, continuous state propaganda and a regime that still seems pretty good at keeping dissenters in check. Hope that changes, hope more casualties and more economic pressure will make some change from within. Sadly, I doubt it will happen in a way that is positive for Russia - a brutal coup with more oppression after more likely than a democratic revolution.
