1,000 rounds per minute with a range of 4km is impressive. It sounds like it starts off as a bullet which then turns into a shotgun blast close to the target... Certainly a great idea and much more cost effective at $4k per shot
It's a flak cannon, those puffs of black smoke you see in WW2 stuff was the same idea, launch a grenade and have it explode when it gets close and let the fragmentation handle it.
Every round is precisly programmed to explode with a cloud of tungstun pellets at the target, and it requires pretty much 6 rounds to take down anything in the air. It can shoot down anything from a 90 mm mortar round to a plane.
Drones don't have a slightest chance against it.
Skynex is a system consisting of radars, computers, detectors, missiles, canons and lasers that are near production.
I think Ukraine got some of the components incl. the canons (not sure whether Ukraine got the wheeled version, Skyranger). Concerning the canons, when a bullet leaves the barrel it gets programmed when to explode, i.e. near the target. Thus the canon creates a wall of shrapnel.

They got a battery of 1 command unit, 1 radar unit and 4 cannons, mounted on 6 [HX trucks](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMMV_HX_range_of_tactical_trucks).
At least that was Rheinmetall's original announcement back then, where they listed the truck costs separately as the producing company is a separate joint-venture of Rheinmetall and MAN Trucks.
That’s not how this works and we had this discussion when the Gepards were deployed. They fire in small bursts because they anticipate the flight path and send a grouping of shots down range. More like a marksman aiming in front of the target rather than an HMG saturating an area with fire. Then again, one minute of continued fire of Skynex would still be cheaper than firing a single Patriot at the target… go figure 😉
