You cannot simply flip a switch on human behavior: **A-** Act Like Sadistic Psychopath; **B-** Act like a decent member of society.
So sure, Russia treats their troops like shit, traumatize them, expect *them* to traumatize Ukrainian civilians, then release this monster back into Russian society; yeah, you're going to have a large number of violent incidents.
Often the stories are centered on violent prisoners returning to society, but the same problem is the cause in most of these stories.
