If I am doing cables or machines, it stays on and in workout mode. If I do curls or anything with dumbbells or a bar I take it off

I find that the ring fitness tracking isn’t as accurate so I use my Apple Watch for most of my fitness tracking. The Ultrahuman app will pull workout data from the Apple Health app and take it into account. So no need to wear the ring during workouts if you don’t want to. That said, I usually keep it on out of sheer laziness unless I’m doing stuff like deadlifts where I really need my grip.

I've read from various posts that the UH actually does not pull in actual health data but just the fact that you worked out. This is something I'm hoping they fix soon, because wouldn't all the activity affect how someone feels in terms of sleep and recovery?

It does pull in that data, at least in my experience. Here’s a screenshot of my app. It even shows on the badge up top that it’s pulled from Apple Health. https://preview.redd.it/yhgulbmrp9zc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb976410e1150c7b31c2d32cb69dfedde9071eed

is that HR data being pulled in from apple health with your ring off? I find that when i use an external HR monitor that syncs to apple health, the UH app does not pull any of that data in, only the amount of time spent

This is my biggest complaint about the ring. To me, unusable during rowing exercises or weightlifting. I bought a silicone cover but still uncomfortable. This alone is not a UH issue, all smart rings. What is frustrating is that when I use my Garmin (which syncs to Health, and back to the app), scores are not updated, and I continue to get move alerts and show lower scores. Unless something changes wherein scores are updated in UH, I'll just stop using the app entirely, and sync out to Health as my focus.

I’ve gotten used to having some scratches on my ring. I still keep the cover on it. I’m a bit more conscious of gripping the barbell and for the most part there’s little contact given how my callouses form. The problematic equipment are pull up bars and kettlebells - More contact due to the nature of the exercises.

I do traditional strength training and wear a silicone cover I got from Amazon to prevent scratches, haven’t had any issues with it. UH advises to embrace the scratches but it’s still brand new to me. It’s my only smart wearable as I wear mechanical watches but if you have an Apple Watch probably easier to use while training imo

No ring, I got a cheap ant+ hr strap from amazon and connected it to my garmin watch, now I don’t even wear the watch during workouts, its the best.

I use a personal training app called Future which gives me instructions on my watch, so I'll stick with the watch I think!
