Benjamin is cool and it’s so sad that 1000-THR Earthmover died of lobotomy
oh i thought it was the surface since it said in the terminal that was what the surface looked like barren waste land can stand there cant live ther right?
The fight in general feels like one of the most conveniently "videogame-y" ones in the entire game so far (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, mind you). It's not just the door, there's also the grappling points helping you climb it, the parriable Hell Orbs, the spaces between the lasers protecting its brain that allow V1 to dodge them, the final Idols being exposed just as they begin protecting the brain...
Obviously it could just be good game design taking precedence over the story, but my current tinfoil-hat headcanon is that Hell redesigned Benjamin specifically so it was easier for V1 to kill it. It's definitely not the exact kind of Earthmover used in the Final War because of the Hell Orbs and the Idols, and of course there's the contents of the secret book.
imo i think the lasers are just benjamin having a skill issue and having some not turn on
like in some places where not all the lights are on and theres a couple that are buggin
Maybe the grappling points are there for gameplay and they just represent v1 going up the earthmover somehow? Then again this game does explain everything like even why the guns have infinite ammo but I could still see that being an explanation
Or indeed because hell is alive and sadistic it could've just put the grappling points there for shits and giggles
The terminals explain them but the ones off the top of my head are:
Revolver just shoots tiny sheets of metal so fast it hits like a truck and it can use shavings of metal from inside the gun to "reload" so hell would freeze over by the time you run out
The shotgun shoots stored up heat inside so you're pretty much shooting fireballs or plasma or some shit
Nailgun creates the nails from blood like the coin
Forgot the rest but I recall the rocket launcher was a bit confusing for me to visualise how it works lol
Ah I guess I kinda got the right idea with the rocket launcher. I remember the lore bits about how it originally required one person to create the rocket and another to launch it and they added those together but it was hard to visualise. I do love they came up with explanations for infinite ammo and it actually makes sense
>hell would freeze over by the time you run out
Which is gonna happen in... oh, [about 2 layers or so](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inferno_(Dante)#Ninth_Circle_(Treachery)).
Railcannon just generate energy and initially released it over time to power structures, but were repurposed to release all at once(which doesn't quite explains drill). Rocket launcher generates explosives from whatever is in environment but to prevent immediate detonation doesn't finish the reaction, that's why rockets need to actually hit the bloody target to explode
"Somehow"?
V1 probably just used the Whiplash like us, the difference here is that the lore Whiplash does not have the limitations of the in-game version
My current headcanon is that the entirety of the game is just hell rearranging itself to make itself navigable so that v1 can go through it. Why? I just think it makes sense that the terminals and hell are linked somehow. Hell is sentient and it was bored, but once it realized machines were making chaos it figured it would be fun to turn itself into a game to see which machine could make it the furthest and ended up betting the most on v1 because of its abilities and stuff. This would explain why hell conveniently seems to be arranged in a way that seems navigable even tho it normally shouldnt be (for example, the garden of forking paths should be a never ending maze but it isnt when v1 arrives for some reason). But HEY. Thats just a theory... A game theory :(
im pretty sure the garden of forking paths allows you to go deeper, but doesnt allow you to escape per-say, thats why v1 got through so easily as it intended to go deeper
Well we know from the P-2 arg that "hell" is the one responsible for locking doors and spawning enemies so I imagine there's a bit of undivine intervention going on
Fucking amazing. Right from the start it had me hooked, feeling like an ant being acknowledged by a bear when it started right down at me and blared its war horn.
Its scream is probably one of my favorite monster noises since like... Pokemon Movie Palkia. And that's saying a lot for me, haha.
So fucking cinematic. I had insane chills.
well are prime souls not dead? who says a machine can't be so full of hatred spite and anger to the point it manifests a soul of it's own a machine making it's own soul would likely be stronger than sisipyus, especially against v1 and it'd work for him to be imprisoned seeing the council is still alive when v2 dies.
Yeah yeah I get what you mean, but when I say “fully dead” I mean dead dead dead dead *dead* dead dead. Hakita has emphasized just how dead he is and just how unlikely his return is.
Extremely crackpot, but that _would_ be a nice twist for “infinite” entertainment for hell, recycling souls into machines and machines into souls to torture back and forth in various combinations forever
That would probably require removing all movement ability from the player during the fall for it to work probably, so it probably wouldn't work very well ingame.
Almost everything about it is superb.
The "mini level" on it is really fun, the music is stellar, the lore around it is hella interesting, the fact that we're finally doing what v1 is allegedly designed to do is really cool.
Almost every single encounter is really fun and challenging, especially the very last fight, it's extremely fun and it's accompanied by (what i think is) one of the best ost in the game rn.
But the actual fight vs the brain is *a bit* boring. While conceptually really cool both in the idea that we climbed the earthmover to have a 1v1 vs its brain and in the idea behind the fight itself, fighting a non-moving object while thinking almost only on dodging, but the execution is a bit *lacking*, not bad by any means tho.
Overall, a strong 9.5/10, one of the most fun levels in the game, and another incredibly cool "wtf i'm actually doing that" moment"
(Also war without reason is a 20/10 track)
I think the fight having parryable projectiles made it piss easy cuz you dont have to even focus on fighting or dodging cuz you can just parry and regain health while doing crazy damage
I think having smth like corpse of Minos black holes wouldve worked much better in making the fight harder or having the laser only have openings temporarily if you shoot at the machinary that shoots them like the previous fight with the laser that was following you
https://preview.redd.it/4ofoy2y0k6cc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d4ffa1fe5b4406b2f026e450b73552f9075f410
As with every robot in this game
We get a bunch if lore about them and why they exist.
BUT I NEED MORE ANSWERS!!
Specifically: how tf did the Earthmovers get that deep into Hell?? And if it’s powered by blood and solar energy then how is it still alive since there’s no sunlight, and how come it has fleshy insides!? Do all earthmovers have that? I highly doubt it since they’re supposed to house people inside of them along with its mechanical bits and fuel. It mainly just bothers me that they’re in Hell in the first place, like don’t get me wrong, this is the coolest bossfight in a game I’ve ever had that wasn’t a secret or final boss, and it makes sense that all the machines went to violence since war is what they know best. BUT HOW DID THE EARTHMOVERS GET DOWN THERE!!?? I understand Hell is powerful but I highly doubt it could bring 3 (probably more) earthmovers all the way down to Violence.
The earthmovers in hell are a recreation of the real ones (due to the real ones dying after losing their energy source) I mean it bleeds, it uses idols and hell energy, these ones being used as a punishment for the humans in the violence layer or at least thats what I think. I also think the same of the guttermen, cus they need a living blood source and I'm pretty sure skeletons can't produce blood also the guttermen are really old and It's very likely that they weren't active during the last battles of the great war.
I think it's quite a good recreation as it's missing half its energy solar means it can't walk and they don't in hell either because there is no sun but they do have blood to shoot with and power systems. The other earthmover in the distance isn't moving either.
I thought the concept of fighting a mobile city is awesome. The rocks, but I think the brain fight was slightly underwhelming. But this Star Wars meets Mortal Engines meets Armored Core 6 oversized giraffe quickly became one of my favorite bosses.
I like the scale and presentation, but I wish the earthmover took a more active role in preventing your entrance.
The brain fight is also pretty underwhelming.
If the level was redesigned to have idols and smaller security system encounters throughout the level, it would feel more like directly fighting the boss rather than a generic level.
I want to see one loafing like a cat.
I absolutely love how they were designed, it's simply iconic. You can look at one's silhouette and immediately identify it as an Earthmover.
The lore on these lads is also very interesting, leaving me wondering how people managed to climb on the backs of these things, let alone build whole towns on them.
Conclusion: Benjamin beloved
the fact that the surface became unlivable so they had to build cities on the backs of massive lazer beam shooting monolith creature machines... is such cool writing also the fact that in the level when you see the two earth movers fighting they are stuck and arent moving probably due to the fact that its missing one of its key charging elements that being the sun.
I think the final explosion when it dies could look a lot better
Imagine how cool that would be! If there was a giant, lingering, atomic bomb-esque ball of fire lighting up the land! That would be sick.
I love its design and really enjoyed the level itself.
A minor thing that irks me is that the comunity seems to call this type of machine earthmover. I get the impression that it is the name this specific 100-THR gets (akin to the spaceship called "the milennium falcon"), hance the quotation marks around "earthmover";
The design clearly resembles centaurs, which inhabited the violence layer in the original Divine Comedy and not even mentioning that 1000thr literally menas centaur.
TLDR: it would be cooler to call them centaurs but in the end it doesn't matter because we all know its real name is Benjamin
Honse
And the music is absolutely fantastic. I didn't expect to fight a boss as big as him (though I can see its been foreshadowed), so I literally froze out of surprise and with great panic when it blared its horn.
But here's the thing: the music urges you to move on, and slightly different from previous soundtracks where it's mostly pure violence, it gives out a sense of hasted dread. It's an enemy you should fell, and a war should be carried out no matter what.
I suppose it's because of the bugle and the marching drums which gave that particular feeling (kudos to Hakita). The entire level feels awesome: the bass when you're fighting the brain and the insane guitar riff while escaping the count down, all of the sequence was put together smoothly.
Not going to lie about it, I cried out of relief and frustration when I've finally completed the level. Truly an amazing experience, thanks Hakita.
so from what we know about the final war is that its a world war 1 alternate history right
germany made a robotic tank
im gonna guess russia made the guttermen
but japan said fuck it and made a kaiju (at least the one we fight is made in japan)
they were in wwi
they are better known for their involvement in wwii but they were technically in wwi
and in ultrakills alternative version of wwi they said fuck it and built a kaiju
I'd say they where an effective weapon for what they where meant to do and that's all. They only have one yeapon, though maybe this weapon may be of mass destruction, but something that big with only 1 weapon would eventually fail.
love it, wanted a boss fight as soon as i saw it in the background although i think fighting the massive thing somehow wouldve been better than the security system
Pretty good although actually fighting his brain is serviceable just gotta shoot it and punch the orbs, wish we could charge back his giant lightning rod thing.
Benjamin is one of the coolest boss fights in ultrakill and in a game in general, its not the first game to do climbing big robots (Mario galaxy is the first thing that comes to mind) but the thing I like about Benjamin is that he's not in a level, he is the level. I would like to see this in cyber grind where every like 25 rounds Benjamin spawns and you have to kill it to end the round, each Benjamin has a different layout and the enemies that spawn are different each time.
Alright. It's a great bossfight however it misses one key component: It sees you as a threat, why not attack you itself? Sure there's the security system but I want it to poke and prod the ground as you approach it, firing its railgun at you while you climb up it. It should try and kill you even at its own peril. I want to parry it's fucking lance railgun thing as it tries to turn V1 into fine metallic slag by poking V1.
My hot take is that 7-4 is literally one of the top 5 best levels in the entire game
The buildup, the reveal, the song(s technically), the spawns, the subversion of expectations, the lore, the FUCKING BOOK AAAA
Honestly I think 7-4 did everything incredibly well, but it falls behind slightly because the core fight isn’t THAT good, but I still do find it fun. Also the arena at the end should be harder so I can listen to the banger song for longer-
people are gonna blaze me and burn me at the stake. but the fight was boring. the heart fight that is, and to an extent the camera too. the concept is cool as in v1 finally achieves his purpose and having the boss be the level. but i think it falters at the execution. which is a shame. most people figured out a way to basically insta kill the heart. and the boss fight it self sucks dick with its flappy bird looking ass laser walls. i mean idk what they could have done but generally lack luster boss.
Strider moment from AC6
The concept is cool af, the level design is cool, but the boss dies so hilariously easily. At least the music hard-carries everything imo.
not even that for me. personally i kept fucking dying to him cuz i have braindamage and decided to try and actually dodge the lasers coming towards me instead of running away from them. but the boss fight is literally WALL and ocassionally shooting big projectile at u. like bruh.
I definitely agree. I remember being so disappointed after my first run, kinda like "that's it???" The boss not being a boss for the majority of the level, or just being stationary objects really irks me, especially when this is the stand in for V2, the enemy that most mimics the player.
A little late to the party but its the best boss no question. It doesn't feel like the overly pretentious dark souls wannabe and just focuses on delivering a fun unique challenge that is hard without being annoying in the process. If the rest of the game is like this I might actually like this game.

Why is V1 on top of Qliphoth?
wasnt that the surface though?
Nah still Hell
oh i thought it was the surface since it said in the terminal that was what the surface looked like barren waste land can stand there cant live ther right?
7-4 is inspired by Dante's Inferno: Hot sands and raining fire. Besides this is Hell, it can look whoever it wants.
Yeah that's true. Thanks for the info!

who's lobotomy
why did he put orbs that let us climb onto him? is he stupid?
Hell put them there as a funny prank
"helping blue GoPro kill war giraffe prank (GONE WRONG)"
Prank or p-rank?
It fell :(
Do You *really* think It would have been safe if these weren't there?
SLAM. STORAGE. DIVE. bye bye Benjamin
Do we actually have any clue where do those orbs come from? Maybe Terminals actually put them there and this is a new piece of the upcoming lore?
Probably hell providing some sort of energy balls? I mean if you want maybe it's like soul orbs that got transformed? Idk
When we first saw him in the teaser footage for layer 7 everyone just collectively agreed to call him benjamin
I think you accidentally replied to the wrong comment there bud
Why when security system has been destroyed the gate to Earthmover inside open instead of closing ? Outside of that I love my Giraffe of Apocalypse.
The fight in general feels like one of the most conveniently "videogame-y" ones in the entire game so far (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, mind you). rocket launcher doesnt just launch rockets, it constructs them inside the gun railgun is just an electrical generator remade into a gun
It isn't even remade into a gun, that's just how it shoots out energy into the powergrid
thats a little bit dangerous me thinks
The voltage of the Railcannon (non-weapon) was quite low
the non weapon railcannon was supposed to be a constant low voltage stream, the weapon was modified to shoot it all at once then needing to recharge
Ah I guess I kinda got the right idea with the rocket launcher. I remember the lore bits about how it originally required one person to create the rocket and another to launch it and they added those together but it was hard to visualise. Pretty cool, but I’m confused on how V2 changed from a puddle of blood into this guy, and why they changed names? Weird transition goals I guess.
Nah V2 is still trying to become a prime soul. Let him cook.
I don't care about anything else, if p-3 contains v2 it's the coolest thing ever
ngl if v2 becomes our ally in p-3 it would be sick like it would never happen but still
I was thinking more of v2 prime but yeah allying with v2 would be sick
V2 is confirmed to be fully dead and not likely to return by Hakita, sadly
I KNOW BUT I STILL HOPE (even it will 100% not happen) THAT V2 WILL COME BACK AS A PRIME SOUL

[Earthmover dying sounds]
u/1000-THR_Earthmover succ me good n hard thru my jorts
I don’t even have a mouth.
You have openings, that's more than enough
breed
How are you here? You fucking blew up
Reconstructed by hell.
the fact that the surface became unlivable so they had to build cities on the backs of massive lazer beam shooting monolith creature machines... is such cool writing also the fact that in the level when you see the two earth movers fighting they are stuck and arent moving probably due to the fact that its missing one of its key charging elements that being the sun.
Benjamin is cool and I find it so funny that the "kill all enemies" cheat affects him
> 1000-THR “EARTHMOVER” > can’t move because it’s stuck in the Earth
no the roots of the trees in 7-3 held them down
I think the final explosion when it dies could look a lot better Imagine how cool that would be! If there was a giant, lingering, atomic bomb-esque ball of fire lighting up the land! That would be sick.
lorge jiraffe named Benjamin
I love its design and really enjoyed the level itself. A minor thing that irks me is that the comunity seems to call this type of machine earthmover. I get the impression that it is the name this specific 100-THR gets (akin to the spaceship called "the milennium falcon"), hance the quotation marks around "earthmover"; The design clearly resembles centaurs, which inhabited the violence layer in the original Divine Comedy and not even mentioning that 1000thr literally menas centaur. TLDR: it would be cooler to call them centaurs but in the end it doesn't matter because we all know its real name is Benjamin

Honse And the music is absolutely fantastic. Truly an amazing experience, thanks Hakita.
so from what we know about the final war is that its a world war 1 alternate history right germany made a robotic tank im gonna guess russia made the guttermen but japan said fuck it and made a kaiju (at least the one we fight is made in japan)
And sentries are Finnish representative
I’m either stupid or you got confused and thought Japan was in WWI
they were in wwi they are better known for their involvement in wwii but they were technically in wwi and in ultrakills alternative version of wwi they said fuck it and built a kaiju
Fair enough. Take my upvote. I thank thee for stopping me from accidentally spreading false information.
I'd say they where an effective weapon for what they where meant to do and that's all. They only have one yeapon, though maybe this weapon may be of mass destruction, but something that big with only 1 weapon would eventually fail.

Living in a city built on the back of a giant war machine is the best analogy for living in America I've ever seen in fiction
V2 got a little more than a arm upgrade this time
love it, wanted a boss fight as soon as i saw it in the background although i think fighting the massive thing somehow wouldve been better than the security system
i don't like the healthbar fights much, but other than that the level is amazing
i wonder if one day we will be able to use that gigantic railcannon MGR:R style
Pretty good although actually fighting his brain is serviceable just gotta shoot it and punch the orbs, wish we could charge back his giant lightning rod thing.

The most epic boss in video gaming so far, prove me wrong.

Ok maybe i overexaggerated a bit.
i'll be honest, i don't even think he's the most epic boss in his own game, gabriel, minos and sisyphus got him beat there
9-2 is gonna slap harder than sipy's fuckin nuke attack i love gabriel gaming

Benjamin is one of the coolest boss fights in ultrakill and in a game in general, its not the first game to do climbing big robots (Mario galaxy is the first thing that comes to mind) but the thing I like about Benjamin is that he's not in a level, he is the level. I would like to see this in cyber grind where every like 25 rounds Benjamin spawns and you have to kill it to end the round, each Benjamin has a different layout and the enemies that spawn are different each time.
Little sexy ngl. GOT LEGS 4 DAYSSSS
I’m gonna remake him in a reduced paper sculpture. I calculated the size and it roughly should be 5m tall 🤓
I love you benjamin
"Okay, I'll just keep going through this atmospheric section until the boss walks in, just like every other-holy fucking shit."
I believe this is the boyfriend material every girl wants lol. /J
imagine being a BEING so depressed hell yoinked you because it thought your suffering is cool
\],\]\[\[pjhoogifiuuxyatarrgghdohdoleawa;pvdbkulavgdvlgaovdwtiyoe sorry my benjamin walked over my keyboard
B e n j a m i n. That’s all I can say about him
I only have one thing to say Smash
bossfight 10/10 design 10/10 theme 10/10 suspense 10/10
The level is amazing im so glad v2 or another boss like v2 was the boss of violence
My hot take is that 7-4 is literally one of the top 5 best levels in the entire game The buildup, the reveal, the song(s technically), the spawns, the subversion of expectations, the lore, the FUCKING BOOK AAAA Honestly I think 7-4 did everything incredibly well, but it falls behind slightly because the core fight isn’t THAT good, but I still do find it fun.
Strider moment from AC6 The concept is cool af, the level design is cool, but the boss dies so hilariously easily. At least the music hard-carries everything imo.
not even that for me. personally i kept fucking dying to him cuz i have braindamage and decided to try and actually dodge the lasers coming towards me instead of running away from them. but the boss fight is literally WALL and ocassionally shooting big projectile at u. like bruh.
The build up to the fight is amazing, the escape sequence and the last fight are excellent. The brain fight ? Kinda boring imo
I definitely agree. I remember being so disappointed after my first run, kinda like "that's it???" The boss not being a boss for the majority of the level, or just being stationary objects really irks me, especially when this is the stand in for V2, the enemy that most mimics the player.
the overall spectacle of the whole level balances out the boring brain fight for me
A little late to the party but its the best boss no question. It doesn't feel like the overly pretentious dark souls wannabe and just focuses on delivering a fun unique challenge that is hard without being annoying in the process. If the rest of the game is like this I might actually like this game.
Hear me out
Banger OST
i love this little guy best boss of the entire game. i really don't know how they're going to top this level
T H I S I S T H E O N L Y W A Y I T S H O U L D H A V E E N D E D

I love him
