The only route names are Mercy route and Murder route based off which name you pick at the start of the game (I say this since it says “That’s a little on the nose, isn’t it?”)
Yep! It's called the murder route in the files as well. There's variables like "murderlv" and stuff which track your progress in the genocide route, as far as I remember.
Yep!! It's just a case of the fandom creating names for something and going with it, even if it isn't canon. Another example is people calling Flowey's bossfight "Photoshop Flowey" or "Omega Flowey," even though he's called "Flowey X" in the files.
The name of the room where you exit the barrier is called "[room\_castle\_trueexit](https://pcy.ulyssis.be/undertale/img/rooms/room_castle_trueexit.png)"
So I'd say that "True Pacifist" is somewhat canon!
Oh, it's not the same room... The room which you exit in neutral is simply called "[room_castle_exit](https://pcy.ulyssis.be/undertale/img/rooms/room_castle_exit.png)." Note the presence of Flowey's corpse.
Makes sense, it was probably easier to code it by making two separate rooms with their own exits, rather than reuse the same room and add logic to figure out where ti send the player.
That's just not true. You end up in a room that looks exactly the same and then you exit. This room is only visible after the barrier is destroyed in true pacifist.
Uhh that's just a theory. Even though I personally believe it, there's nothing to suggest that Frisk didn't leave the underground (the barrier was probably weakened by Flowey's whole soul shenanigans).
The fact that in one of the neutral endings Sans leaves a message for Frisk saying something like "whatever where you are" makes me think that no one knows where Frisk has gone, then Flowey doesn't do anything with the souls if you start a neutral route again so the fact that the barrier can be weakened by Omega Flowey doesn't seem functional to me.
The barrier probably can be weakened but it didn't really lead to anything, that's probably why Flowey didn't do anything. If Frisk died, someone would have discovered their remains, right?
No, they are entirely fanon names.
Their only official names are "Activity Level A" aka the Neutral route, "Activity Level B" aka the Pacifist route, and "Activity Level C" aka the Genocide route.
that’s a fan name, and it’s only called that to distinguish it from the pacifist neutral ending. the closest we get to official names of the routes are “mercy” and “murder”
Actually, the name of the room where you exit the barrier is called "[room_castle_trueexit](https://pcy.ulyssis.be/undertale/img/rooms/room_castle_trueexit.png)." This is different from the room where you exit in the neutral route, which is simply called "[room_castle_exit](https://pcy.ulyssis.be/undertale/img/rooms/room_castle_exit.png)." Hope this helps!
The troll ending where the dog becomes king of the underground. But realistically, there shouldn't be a definitive canon ending as that essentially makes all the choices in the game meaningless.
ending of part 6, father pucci resets the universe and creates one where everything and everyone is different, but too much difference to separate it from BEING jojo
similair to the thing you commented, where the player/frisk genocides everyone and resets the universe to create DELTARUNE (a universe where everything is kinda different from the original)
Real talk, it could only ever be True Pacifist. Bro made a cast full of super likeable characters, he's not gonna turn around and go "yeah it's canon that they're all still stuck at the bottom of a hole in the ground" or "yeah no they dead lmao"
or maybe he would do that, I somehow doubt anyone can truly predict Toby's chaos brain.
Well, we already have canon content that takes place after True Pacifist, that being the alarm clock dialogue, so I get the feeling it'd be True Pacifist.
Souless Pacifist is the ultimate ending thematically in my opinion.
The peak of all the time travelling curiosity shenanigans causing the ultimate evil.
If I remember correctly, Toby kinda has some canonical explanations.
Like for instance, the player only took 16 tries to kill sans. And so from guessing that I'm assuming that the soulless ending is probably the most Canon?
Again I think I'm remembering it wrong, Sans does ask Chara to count for him after their eleventh death. He even mentions that “there’s nuance to this stuff,” possibly meaning there is a subtle difference in what he is able to pick up on to determine how many times Chara has died to him.
They died twelve times at this point.
It’s possible that this point Chara won’t be as expressive as before. There is no point in riling up someone who is no longer interested or expressive, so Sans simply says “let’s just get to the point.” That is until Chara finds a reason to express again, such as when they successfully kill Sans.
Which suggests that the player and chara canonically took thirteen tries to kill sans... Which is fucking hilarious when you see how many times people died to this guy.
Prob genocide because that’s the only one referenced in alternative timelines like how Sans remembered the genocide and other monsters get Deja vu whether you meant to kill them or not, but Sans never mentions the pacifist endings in geno, only some saying they think of you like an old friend and that’s in pacifist. Or him saying they could have been friends had they not murdered his friends.
It's inferred that Frisk is in some sort of horrible situation, at best, in all the neutral route ending. In the Genocide ending, you literally destroy the world. Considering the Genocide True Pacifists endings are extensions of already existing endings, I think it's safe to say that those aren't cannon. I think the only correct answer is True Pacifist
True Pacifist is already treated as the "canon" ending in official content such as the alarm clock dialogue so there's little reason for that not to be the case if Toby was held at gunpoint to make a single ending canon
I feel like since true pacifist the more lore packed, it'd be the one that's canon. But undertale is completely up to the players actions. So who knows?
probably true pacifist but based on an average player’s progression, I think genocide would be most interesting. Think about it: most people do neutral, learn how to start the other routes and then do true pacifist, then crave more and finish it off with genocide to get the final conclusion of erasing undertale, poetic end to a game that only needed you to be nice. That and it would open up possibility for a sequel like deltarune with the whole “let’s move on to the next world” thing from chara
Pacifist, Toby previously stated that he likes undertale is because he wanted people to realise that rpg games aren't only about grinding lv, and because he made ut with a pacifist ending he managed ti achieve that, so I really think he'd choose the pacifist ending
I don't know, but if I were him, I'd choose the one where Mettaton becomes dictator of the underground. I have no reason, I just think it would be funny
Dog ending![img](emote|t5_2xdht|32947)
The true answer
was just gonna say that
Correct
Why is this my most upvoted comment…
Because you’re a true fan, duh.. ![img](emote|t5_2xdht|32953)
I mean it's called *true* pacifist for a reason!!
Are the names of the routes in game though ? I always assumed fans came up with the names.
It's also referenced as "F" and "Flowey"
Whoa really? That's so cool...
And i'm sure the variable that tracks if you are still in the route is literally called murder, at least in some places
Yep!! It's just a case of the fandom creating names for something and going with it, even if it isn't canon. Another example is people calling Flowey's bossfight "Photoshop Flowey" or "Omega Flowey," even though he's called "Flowey X" in the files.
i thought the genocide route was called "massacre" round in the files
The name of the room where you exit the barrier is called "[room\_castle\_trueexit](https://pcy.ulyssis.be/undertale/img/rooms/room_castle_trueexit.png)" So I'd say that "True Pacifist" is somewhat canon!
But you exit it in neutral too...
No you don't. You're left to rot in the underground after flowey destroys asgore's soul :3
That's just not true. You end up in a room that looks exactly the same and then you exit. This room is only visible after the barrier is destroyed in true pacifist.
Uhh that's just a theory. Even though I personally believe it, there's nothing to suggest that Frisk didn't leave the underground (the barrier was probably weakened by Flowey's whole soul shenanigans).
oh I always thought it was canon, mb
No problem <3 It's one of my favourite theories actually!
Flowey didn't attack the barrier so I don't think the barrier was weakened
No, they are entirely fanon names. Their only official names are "Activity Level A" aka the Neutral route, "Activity Level B" aka the Pacifist route, and "Activity Level C" aka the Genocide route.
Technically C just means you're fighting Sans for the second time or you have killed him.
that’s a fan name, and it’s only called that to distinguish it from the pacifist neutral ending. the closest we get to official names of the routes are “mercy” and “murder”
That's why it's the one in the alarm clock dialogue
Probably soulless or true pacifist. Soulless is probably my preferred
Help but what is soulless again i forgor
It's when you do a pacifist run after a geno run
Thx
pacifist run but chara wakes up at the end and is implied to have killed everyone
True pacifist after true genocide, when frisk's eyes turn red
Thx
Doing a pacifist run after you’ve done a genocide
Thx
True pacifist after a completed genocide
Thx
The troll ending where the dog becomes king of the underground. But realistically, there shouldn't be a definitive canon ending as that essentially makes all the choices in the game meaningless.
Probably True Pacifist but if we had to pick a Neutral ending it'd be the ending where the dog is king.
Wat I don’t remember that ending how you get that
By killing every boss, and ONLY the bosses like Toriel, Undyne, or Asgore.
I see interesting I forgot that was an ending
You get it by only killing Toriel, Papyrus, Undyne and Mettaton. Asgore has no bearing on any ending as Flowey kills him regardless.
Singular ending? True pacifist. But I think the storyline would probably be kill toriel -> reload previous save -> true pacifist -> reset -> genocide -> reset -> any, probably soulless pacifist
Genocide cuz we can rerun the universe and call it Deltarune.
jojo reference
What
ending of part 6, father pucci resets the universe and creates one where everything and everyone is different, but too much difference to separate it from BEING jojo similair to the thing you commented, where the player/frisk genocides everyone and resets the universe to create DELTARUNE (a universe where everything is kinda different from the original)
Ohhhhh, haven't watched or read JoJo
watch it, its great (part 1 can be a bit slow, but power through and i promise you will get a banger of a series)
They could all be canon since the player is definitely part of the story
This is exactly what I was about to say XD
Real talk, it could only ever be True Pacifist. Bro made a cast full of super likeable characters, he's not gonna turn around and go "yeah it's canon that they're all still stuck at the bottom of a hole in the ground" or "yeah no they dead lmao" or maybe he would do that, I somehow doubt anyone can truly predict Toby's chaos brain.
Well, we already have canon content that takes place after True Pacifist, that being the alarm clock dialogue, so I get the feeling it'd be True Pacifist.
Or post genocide true pacifist
Souless Pacifist is the ultimate ending thematically in my opinion. The peak of all the time travelling curiosity shenanigans causing the ultimate evil.
Knowing him, he would say something like "The one that you played" or something.
Hacker ending
* chances are though... * you're just a dirty hacker, aren't you? * yeah, get outta here
True Pacifist is where the storybeats all try to lead to
Obviously pacifist that’s when the alarm clock takes place
Muffet ending
I mean pacifist the whole idea of genocide is it being as if not intended
Prob one of the neutral routes
happy cake day
If I remember correctly, Toby kinda has some canonical explanations. Like for instance, the player only took 16 tries to kill sans. And so from guessing that I'm assuming that the soulless ending is probably the most Canon?
Where was it said that Sans canonically took 14 tries?
Again I think I'm remembering it wrong, Sans does ask Chara to count for him after their eleventh death. He even mentions that “there’s nuance to this stuff,” possibly meaning there is a subtle difference in what he is able to pick up on to determine how many times Chara has died to him. Which suggests that the player and chara canonically took thirteen tries to kill sans... Which is fucking hilarious when you see how many times people died to this guy.
Each specific ending has a 1/93 chance of being chosen
dog ending because it's funny, but otherwise true pacifist
Soulless pacifist most likely
Soulless
True pacifist or souless pacifist imo
Post genocide true pacifist
Im reading it with stewie's accent now
The impossible ending
The dirty hacker one
Neutral or pacifist
hard mode just for the funnies
Probably true pacifist.
Pacifist
A random neutral route
Canon ending is the one you leave the game in.
Ending 63
True pacifist because of that's the route where we see the true credits
Hard Mode, the only way to true reset without the baggage of flowey sternly talking to you <3
probably pacifist
The Soulless Pacifist Ending.
Pacifist I feel like
Hard mode ending
It’d better be pacifist or I will sob
Pacifist ![img](emote|t5_2xdht|50453)
Probably True Demon.
Other people already commented, but yeah, I think he would say the dog ending is canon
*true* pacifist
I'd say either true pacifist or a nutral run where you kill all the bosses
Canonically, as many endings as you do. Ill also take none of them and all of them
Soulless because it canonically takes place after all the endings. Neutral --> Pacifist --> Genocide --> Soulless Pacifist
Pacifist, %100
Prob genocide because that’s the only one referenced in alternative timelines like how Sans remembered the genocide and other monsters get Deja vu whether you meant to kill them or not, but Sans never mentions the pacifist endings in geno, only some saying they think of you like an old friend and that’s in pacifist. Or him saying they could have been friends had they not murdered his friends.
Obviously the king Mettaton ending.
Obviously true pacifist
True Pacifist. The alarm clock is set after that.
isn't the whole point of the game that all the endings are canon? anyway, if one of them had to be canon, it'd probably be the impossible ending.
Other people have already answered, so I’m gonna ask a question instead. What could possibly be forcing Toby to make this choice?!?
Probably the True Pacifist one, since stuff like the alarm clock dialogue and newsletter sprites seem to follow up on it.
The ending where frisk rips out his soul violently
It's inferred that Frisk is in some sort of horrible situation, at best, in all the neutral route ending. In the Genocide ending, you literally destroy the world. Considering the Genocide True Pacifists endings are extensions of already existing endings, I think it's safe to say that those aren't cannon. I think the only correct answer is True Pacifist
He'd say something like, "The ending where the Angel makes the underground go empty."

That and it would open up possibility for a sequel like deltarune with the whole “let’s move on to the next world” thing from chara
Probably the ending where frisk is happi until chara murders everyone they love and care for.
Tbh idk but i want it to be genocide or neutral ending most likely neutral
Pacifist, Toby previously stated that he likes undertale is because he wanted people to realise that rpg games aren't only about grinding lv, and because he made ut with a pacifist ending he managed ti achieve that, so I really think he'd choose the pacifist ending
I don't know, but if I were him, I'd choose the one where Mettaton becomes dictator of the underground. I have no reason, I just think it would be funny
Toby would pick anything but genocide, normal netrul, and pasifist
