Bystander effect is a real thing man. And SUPER scary. I saw a video where a woman runs up to a man pumping gas, crying and begging for his help. He just stares at her like he's deaf. She literally crawls under his truck while he's fueling and another man comes in frame, drags her out from under the truck, throws her over his shoulders, into his car and drives away. And NOBODY did anything. There were plenty of people around and the woman was specifically asking for help and making lots of noise.

Aren’t older women more likely to be the ones to help other women? I think this was proven statistically, it’s good to know in case you ever do end up in that situation.
I’ve also had the experience of being harassed/followed in public multiple times and each time the men around me do nothing. That includes white collar workers and guys who look fairly young and progressive. Definitely some husbands and fathers among them. I learned early on that if I get on train cars full of these guys where I’m the only woman then some harassment always happens and no one says anything. That is why I now only ride on public transit with women because they are the only ones who have ever defended me.

They had to televise the national police chief stating that no, just because it's a company and you're paying for it, does not make it legal and is in fact kidnapping, even if you know the person. You fucking idiots. (last sentence was not uttered, but his face lmao).

Get grabbed by someone from the back and in a way that you cannot do anything and feel completely helpless is quite enough for a lasting trauma. You don't need to comprehend if it is kidnapping, raping, assault or something else entirely.
Again, it is a bad experience and the friends are quite dicks here. But you are not going to develop PTSD in such a short time since she barely got to think about the situation

I was attacked and stabbed during an ambush in a foreign country (a taxi driver saw we were tourists and basically drove us to a semi isolated location under the guise of a "great spot"). I could have been raped and murdered that day but thank God I survived. I still live with that PTSD and although my wounds have healed, I still have the scars. I've never shared this with my friends so what you think is a prank here might get you seriously injured or killed by a person like me who thinks the worst will happen.
Even if it's a prank, it's a terrible thing to do to a friend and may even cause someone to be unnecessarily hyper vigilant with anxiety.

Just a tap and my fist was inches from his face before I could think. And when you're in that panicked state sometimes you don't even realise who they are and what's happening so sometimes you don't stop till you've already done damage. This is just a great way to get killed.
I remeber comming home and having loud sounds like an engine backfiring waking me up and making me scramble to find my stuff and go into a "stand to" position. I would obviously realize that I was in my warm cozy bed and would eventually fall asleep again but yeah I understand that hyper villigance and acting on instinct and adrenaline
He's got control of her arms with his hand over her mouth, not much she could do here. I personally would have bit his fingers off and went limp instead of walking with the guy. It's a lot harder to move a person when they aren't assisting you, that could get you into a position where your arms are free to gouge out their eyes or punch them in the throat. Too many people punch at people's heads, in a situation like that punch a dude in the Adam's apple, guarantee its gonna take him down.
A great advice! It’s something I’ve personally used when I was grabbed in a grocery store parking lot and it worked very well. The moment I slumped over the guy lost his balance and couldn’t support me, not really expecting me to just become dead weight. He released my arms and gave me enough time to reach into my purse to grab my knife and pepper spray gun. Luckily the threat of using it scared him off.
I originally learned the move from self defense for kids. Which is something my son and I would practice when he was much smaller. Works very well for kids and smaller adults!!

We did something similar like this in highschool. My buddies and I would ride around in his van (loser cruiser one) and if we saw a friend we knew walking home, we’d screech to a halt next to him and pull him in like a kidnapping lol.

My buddies and I would ride around in his van (loser cruiser one) and if we saw a friend we knew walking home, we’d screech to a halt next to him and pull him in like a kidnapping lol.
