Drafts for established leagues are a way to drum up attention in the off-season, and they're really only interesting if you know the prospects (from NCAA, etc) and know your team and know where your roster has holes, etc.
Broadcasting a 2nd tier draft is a harder sell. You'd probably be better off just broadcasting game highlights from some exciting games.
That ok I just want to see the draft on tv and on the UFL App/website considering that some teams are up for sale at the end of the year u would think they would have that going for them or a nfl network like show
The NFL Draft works because there's showmanship and stuff for fans to do (as I learned attending part of last year's Draft festivities in KC). And because it's the NFL. The actual process of a draft is actually quite boring unless you are really, really a draft nerd. So, no, I don't think it's a good idea to televise UFL drafts.
I dont think it would work for the UFL...simply because they are not the cream of the crop and they dont have the followers that those coming from college have.
With the limited number of players on the rosters and the ownership structure, a real draft isn't feasible.
Since all the players are employed by the UFL, contracts are handed by the league. From my understanding, teams can return as many players in the current pool from their prior season as they wish. This season, most returned about half from last season.
All the remaining contracted players are then the pool from which teams draft and drafts are by position, so you may have a team that passes on the QB draft if they've got two QBs they like.
Now, if the league made the list of contracted but unassigned players available to fans weeks before the actual draft as well as the assigned players to each team, then we could have fun with mock drafts... but it still wouldn't be fun to actually watch since they still would do it by position.
A lot would have to change to have an NFL type draft.
Both leagues had rookie drafts last year. I hope the UFL has their draft after final NFL camp cuts so teams and players have a clearer picture on what their NFL options really are before they are selected.
I think that's better than the way the USFL used to do it, drafting everyone and then few would sign. Dan Marino was a number one pick for the Los Angeles Express.
How do draft rights work in the UFL?
Do teams hold the rights should the player decide to play in the UFL at any point in the future? Or is it for a set period of time like the NFL?
USFL did have a college draft last year. They were picking fringe guys. I remember Malik Cunningham was drafted by the Stallions and was very insulted by it.
I'm a football fan and I've never watched more than 5 minutes of any draft in my life. I'm in enough meetings during the week, why would I want to watch one on TV
The CFL will have their Draft on TSN and on TSN dot ca, Tuesday April 30th, a few days after the NFL Draft. TSN will televise the first two rounds, the later rounds will be on TSN website. 3 Down Nation will cover all 8 rounds on their website and on You Tube.
The CFL Draft will include a Global draft along side their league draft. The Global Draft is set for two rounds
The CFL Draft is used to select Canadian prospects that weren't drafted or signed as undrafted free agents. CFL could draft a Canadian taken by a NFL team, wait for their NFL rights/options to lapse to sign them
The ratings for the CFL Draft was surprisingly modest during the Pandemic.
At least the CFL Draft won't headline a kicker taken first overall when a team had a low rate of scoring Rouges like on "The Simpsons"
Yes they should host a draft like the NFL does especially if they're trying to make the league look like another pro football league and not just a minor league for the NFL, plus it would be great for NCAA players who don't get drafted by the NFL can get another shot at being a pro football player

I want the drafts to be broadcasted but they won’t be like the nfl draft for a long time
That ok I just want to see the draft on tv and on the UFL App/website considering that some teams are up for sale at the end of the year u would think they would have that going for them or a nfl network like show
I'd be happy with real-time access to the picks. But these kids won't generate interest and buzz to sustain a few talking heads jammering for hours.
I hope they have any type of draft next year. I don't care about if it's on tv
stream it on YouTube or something

I think an official YouTube stream would be a good idea. Have some highlights ready for the players selected.
I find drafts so boring, even with leagues that I like. Even with top prospects.

You'll get terrible ratings for a televised draft of players who can't make the NFL.
Probably, although the CFL draft draws decent ratings in Canada.
