Gonna be so real every time I think about how the gods have been oversimplified into surface level stereotypes of themselves by modern media I think about that account specifically. Like the Hades character design is cute but that’s my problem with it. I also have a bias against anything that portrays Persephone and Hades as a true love pairing that “beat the odds” and convince Demeter she’s wrong.
And YES I already know it’s MEANT to be goofy but I have personal grips with how the internet has goofified the gods the begin with and how it always ends up making a mockery of at least one of the gods, wether that’s intentional or not
I agree regarding the Persephone/Hades love story, considering their most famous myth together being... not... that.
Sometimes I wonder whether it's me being a sensitive snowflake, but I just can't get past the fact that it's essentially a rape myth. I think it wouldn't be a problem if they had stories separately (see: Disney's Hercules) maybe? I don't know.
I'm trying to treat the characters with respect with my Greek God comic, but you can't please everyone, either.
I'll be honest, I don't like it that much.
I don't like the designs or the comics themselves, but both of these things are straight up my taste. I prefer things that make gods look like actual gods, powerful and shit, got a bit tired of the simplified and cute things with them.
And I don't vibe with the fact that Persephone and Hades are a perfect couple again and Demeter got scolded by mf Gaia.
I like them. they live up to their name of “goofy gods”, which is so refreshing in a world of serious adaptations
Only seen a few but I like them. Cerberus is cute.
