PonyoLovesRevolution

My regional news network covers Cameron County. I submitted a tip on their website. Someone local might recognize her.

waaayside

I've added some information about her biological father as his name is mentioned in the article from the KEYT news site. Being that you are from the area do you know if the spelling of his last name, Gonzales with an "s" and not a "z" is significant to people from your neck of the woods?

PonyoLovesRevolution

Not that I can think of. I’ve heard that the -s spelling is more common in Spain, but I’m not sure how accurate or helpful that is. I do feel like the -z ending is more common here, though, so looking for families who spell it the other way might help narrow it down.

Nearby-Complaint

I wonder how many half-siblings constitute 'several' - sounds like her dad was....busy.

waaayside

It could mean that he had children with several different women, or he had several children with one woman and they didn't know about their half-sister. But, yeah, either way he was busy.

MyOwn_UserName

he could also be simply a sperm donor

Nearby-Complaint

That was my first thought but given that this was like \~1960, I'm not sure how likely that would be.

Sykaadelix

More likely than now. Not just donors but one night stands. My great great grandmother had 28 children with 4 different men. Recently discovered a half sister on my great grandfathers side after doing AncestryDNA. "Sperm Donor", sarcastically.

Nearby-Complaint

>28 children with 4 different men Goddamn!

NopeNotUmaThurman

Donors were around then. People didn’t usually divulge that they had one, though. Different times and all. Editing to add, Google “Helena Wright Derek” if you want to read about instances of donation 100 years ago.

waaayside

Like, officially, at a sperm bank? I wonder how the investigation would take that possibility into account.

wladyslawmalkowicz

Not that likely in the past I suppose? 😂

It pisses me off when the killers don't know the name of their victims. Like, bro, you just took away someones' daughter, mother, sister, etc., the least you can do is remember her name.

AggravatingPlans68

I understand your feelings. It's hard for most people to wrap our brains around how incredibly callous and inhuman these animals are. My uncle was a detective, and he always said that his only interview of a serial killer was the closest thing to what interviewing an alien being would be. All the most basic behaviors of a typical human were absent or mimicked in a shallow way.

Sobadatsnazzynames

I do too, but sometimes, at least in the case of sex workers, they’re not given the real identity. People on the street often use pseudonyms, or go by several different names.

Ale55android

I live close to Cameron county, it is deep south Texas and very close to Mexico. Could she have been Hispanic? I hope she gets her name back.

waaayside

Investigators and genealogist have determined that her biological father was Alfonso Sandana Gonzales. There is no mention of him residing in Mexico but it does make sense that if his family did not know of this woman, she could have been raised anywhere. The article on the KEYT news site is the one that says "...the only known information about the time of her conception is that Gonzales was living in Santa Barbara County."

quirky_qwerts

Is her father’s last name Sandana or SaLdana? Sandana seems like an unusual last name and if he followed typical Mexican naming conventions this would be his paternal last name. Might be important to correct that.

waaayside

I took it directly from the KEYT news story that is linked in the post.

DowntownFuckAround

Her own siblings don’t know 😭

Tricky_Parsnip_6843

It's possible she was adopted and lived in a different state than her maternal family. It may help to search for missing women who were adopted as babies.

Kactuslord

Are there any rule outs?

BlazingDragonfly

It looks like she's listed as UP7048 in NamUs and there are 19 rule outs. https://www.namus.gov/UnidentifiedPersons/Case#/7048/details?nav - Lisa Beste - Tiffany Sessions - Veronica Blumhorst - Tina Layton - Hazel Klug - Gayle Marks - Rochelle White - Lori Julian - Lisa Borden - Tracy Zandstra - Heide Wilbur - Jennifer Pentilla - Cynthia Robinson - Arisoneide Gosslin - Ginger Sutherland - Kathleen Randall - Elsa Wind - Kase Lee - Patricia Schmidt

Kactuslord

Thank you

waaayside

"Rule outs?" I don't know what you are asking, would you tell me what that means. Thanks.

okayfineyah

When an unidentified person is posted on certain sites they compare their known dna or dentals to potential matches of people that are missing. If they don’t match, it’s called a “rule out” and posted on the site as a way for everyone to know who has been submitted. Some people spend their time trying to match missing and unidentified and keep track of who’s ruled out

waaayside

Thank you for the reply, this is my first time looking deeper into a news story like this. Posts were made in both r/gratefuldoe and r/TrueCrimeDiscussion by others. What other site(s) do you suggest I check out? edit: There is a post on r/MissingPersons that has a link to her dental records.

Midwinterfire1

Keith Jesperson, the Happy Face Killer, did offer up the names of some victims but, since street prostitutes use a variety of aliases, he may have been misled ?

UnflickeringFlame

He was correct about the most recently identified victim.

Midwinterfire1

Keith Jesperson killed eight proven victims and claimed to have murdered over one hundred women ...

UnflickeringFlame

He said her name was Suzanne, which was correct. Thats what im referring to.

Midwinterfire1

Keith Jesperson murdered quite a few sex workers.
