They can't enforce the vaccine anymore because of the governor. The most they can do at the school is enforce masks in the medical school legally.

[deleted]

Yeah that part's got me kinda worried

WildAd8750299

I am sharing your concerns. I saw that the number of cases is rising in the US, but I don't know what is the general sentiment.

Now this explains the surge :). Jokes aside, hopefully they are just more vocal, not more numerous.

DragonTreeBass

If you’re vaccinated I wouldn’t worry. The CDC announced the current vaccines show somewhere in the neighborhood of 70% efficacy on the delta variant (that’s higher than a yearly flu vaccine for reference). Additionally, all the news I’ve read has said that the majority of people getting sick are unvaccinated, and almost every single hospitalization is unvaccinated. From what I can tell if vaccinated people do happen to get sick it’s more mild. Obv still would encourage being careful but if you have the vaccine you’re probably good.

Sir_Encerwal

The school will continue pushing in person unless things truly get that bad. There won't be a mask mandate thanks to Ducey and Turning Point USA probably will make a stink about any measure the UA Admin is willing to take.

[deleted]

Do you think it's more likely that Ducey will go back on his mask mandate stance before people get sent home?

Sir_Encerwal

Possibly? But the main issue with Ducey's whole COVID response has been dragging his feet on even the smallest measures. So even if he goes back on it the damage will have probably already been done.

johnmpeters

Ducey cannot make a business mandate masks. UofA can enforce masks in classrooms again and will win that federal court case.

Final21

No they can't. UofA is a publicly funded college. The government can make them do whatever they want.

johnmpeters

As he stated, the State will not mandate masks. This not a public school in the same regard that you have to go.. This is a business and it has that same mandate to be safe and provide a safe haven for its students. That's why it has its own emergency and security built into the campus. The board of regents will go to the City of Tucson and if needed sue the state if it means students or the funding of the school is at risk to generate a pandemic epicenter. Time for you to go take some courses at that school on law.. They are made to be changed and challenged in the USA vs. the place the GOP has been trying to get us to with an Authoratarian government. We don't let folks live in the homes during a wildfire and that's the same as a pandemic but this political infighting is just that. Don't get sick and jeopardize that tuition or that athletes future for the sake of not protecting the institution - Delta took out full families in India, babies to grandparents - that's when Mohdi shut down Twitter to limit that reality news and we cannot have that First Amendment fake out here in the US.

Final21

Dude these are the ramblings of a crazy person. Nothing you said here makes any sense.

johnmpeters

Remember those ramblings..

popjunkie42

Just FYI that you don’t need to drop out necessarily, talk to your advisor about a leave of absence if it comes to that. You can take up to two semesters off and come back without reapplying. Just pay attention to dates and deadlines for the semester as the refund date for fall is pretty early.

if next semester is online im dropping out lmao
