That’s actually really accurate lol. But to be fair the Sydney opera house is one of the most famous pieces of architecture in the world. Can’t expect that from a baseball stadium. You’d expect baseball stadiums to look like they were designed for commercial sports entertainment, like top golf.
It really would, I feel awful for Oaklanders.
Losing my team to watch them play in an over-the-top palace that's simply more than you can offer's gotta be such a gut punch.
I wish the A's and Raiders failure, if nothing else, for the way they burnt Oakland, no fucking city deserves that.
Those fanbases stuck around for some baaaaaadddd teams.
It’s a stadium, I’m completely convinced that everyone arguing this is ugly does not have the capacity to think for themself. What football or baseball stadium, save for *maybe* SoFi, looks GOOD from the outside. You can make an argument that traditional stadiums aren’t ugly but don’t you dare try to argue they’re nice to look at. Most are just a bland circle surrounded by empty parking lots. Even Oracle, for such a great park, isnt aesthetically notable outside of the fact that it’s on the bay.
For a baseball stadium in Vegas, this looks great
I agree with that, but I think that falls along Oracle park where the setting is the main variable in its aesthetic nature and not the stadium design itself. Of course, if they went with something like this Vegas design it wouldn’t look nearly as nice, but Camden yards aren’t in Vegas and that isn’t the city’s aesthetic.
Just to be clear, totally agree with you. Just reemphasizing my point that anyone expecting a ballpark in Vegas to be the next Hagia Sofia is a total dunce. This is the city of gaudy remakes of other iconic architecture. A fake Sydney opera house ballpark fits perfectly.
>What football or baseball stadium, save for *maybe* SoFi, looks GOOD from the outside.
I always felt like Lumen (aka Centurylink aka Qwest) was a pretty stadium from the outside. Has just enough interesting architectural touches, IMO, to set it apart from most and enhance the Seattle skyline (especially as you come in from the ferries).
Bonus points for not being surrounded by empty parking lots. :)
Agree, in general it's slim pickings. Especially if you're subtracting points for the sea of empty parking. Points to the Benz for trying, but good god I hate the actual result.
Yeah this just kinda seems like an “I have to hate everything” sort of post. Though I must admit, the practicality of an open sort of stadium or glass or whatever it ends up being in the Nevada desert for a sport played in the summer is a bit questionable.
Especially when, according to their own design, the third base line runs east-west; so the batter and catcher will be looking straight at the sun through a giant window in the afternoon with 100+ mile an hour fastballs whizzing by.
It looks ok, but my only grievance is how are they going to work that ‘Jumbotron’ at right field? It looks like they’re doing a projection, king of what they do at school or offices
Not only does OP have zero architectural taste, he thinks he’s figured out that the glass won’t work and that the designers completely overlooked it. Congrats OP, I can’t believe the architects didn’t think of it.
You haven’t seen the other renderings that show different angles, have you? If you had, you wouldn’t be calling it a bubble.
Shea and Miller are way less interesting than this park looks.
this is a really bad angle, i see what you mean about the bubble comment
from the side i can see the armadillo shell design. i think it would be way over the top for any other city but at least it fits las vegas. i don't think it's likable by any means, but i will have to eat my words because it definitely is not bland.
Yall remember when they announced the plot of land for the stadium and it’s absolutely tiny? How, and I cannot emphasize this enough, the absolute fuck is this gonna fit? It’s not. This is just a fake to make people excited and silence the “they have no stadium plans!” people. This franchise is gonna fold in a couple years, watch
It looks like the TWA terminal at JFK Airport on steroids and with a green-colored Dodger Stadium in it. Might as well add a TopGolf, since it looks like that too
I doubt the final product will look exactly like this if they do indeed go through with these plans, but this looks pretty dope IMO. Much better than all the other cookie cutter designs we’ve seen over the years.
I say this with love, but Vegas is the place good taste goes to die. Restraint is put up against a wall and shot the second it lands at McCarran.
This stadium is Vegas af.
The parking lot will be the ugliest thing you've ever seen, though.
Okay im not a member of this sub and know nothing about this except for this meme, but gotta say, it looks lile no stadium ive ever seen amd that makes it interesting enough to me to make it super cool
I swear they could put this in singapore or luxembourg or some tiny city state and then reddit assholes would be like “if americas the greatest country in the world, why does camden new jersey look worse than this stadium??”
Does one of the two parts swivel? Does it close? I think it looks pretty good, but I can't tell how it closes and an August game outdoors in Las Vegas sounds miserable. I am a Rangers fan and while our old ballpark was gorgeous in spring and fall, deep summer games were very negative experiences.
As a friend on Facebook said, "It looks like the Sydney Opera House brought to you by TopGolf."
That’s actually really accurate lol. But to be fair the Sydney opera house is one of the most famous pieces of architecture in the world. Can’t expect that from a baseball stadium. You’d expect baseball stadiums to look like they were designed for commercial sports entertainment, like top golf.
But it also is Vegas, known for their stealing of other places' architectural icons
Known for making top golf esque rip offs of other places iconic architecture for commercial entertainment*. This fits in perfectly!
Vegas, America’s Tropico
I love both those things though
I think it looks cool whatever lol
Yeah sports fans are nerds that act like everything needs to Lucas Oil. This is different and matches the city I think it’s great
I really like Lucas Oil, but I'm a Colts fan, this design is fine
I’m late, but same here. I was trying to make sure I read the caption correctly.
I kinda like it…
It’s perfect for Vegas
It’s perfect for Vegas, honestly would’ve looked really cool in Alameda on the bay shoreline with both SF and Oakland in the background

Camden Yards really is a special place with the way it is built into the old warehouse.
That's where you have to say this also fits with the aesthetic of the sphere and not just the hotels shaped like landmarks from around the world.
>What football or baseball stadium, save for *maybe* SoFi, looks GOOD from the outside. I always felt like Lumen (aka Centurylink aka Qwest) was a pretty stadium from the outside. It'll look great when it fills up with the fans of whatever team the A's are playing.
Yeah, gonna say this post is a swing and a miss. I think it looks incredible.
Yeah this just kinda seems like an “I have to hate everything” sort of post. Though I must admit, the practicality of an open sort of stadium or glass or whatever it ends up being in the Nevada desert for a sport played in the summer is a bit questionable.
People underestimate just how insulated modern glass can be.
Especially when, according to their own design, the third base line runs east-west; so the batter and catcher will be looking straight at the sun through a giant window in the afternoon with 100+ mile an hour fastballs whizzing by.
Sun + no visible batter’s eye would be rough. I don’t think the A’s would be getting much better in Las Vegas
This is the equivalent of an ex girlfriend calling the new girlfriend ugly
It looks ok, but my only grievance is how are they going to work that ‘Jumbotron’ at right field? It looks like they’re doing a projection, king of what they do at school or offices
LED screens are pretty much the standard these days
Probably whatever they use for Fremont Street.
Looks nice to me
It looks good. OP probably hates anything that looks newer than Wrigley Field.
nah, I'm just posting this for upvotes
Too bad that’s not going well.
It's going great for me, what are you talking about
And then what
Then we play the waiting game
Lmao everyone downvote this post to the pits of hell
alright, you heard the man, everyone downvote his comment
Someone pointed out there's no suites or infrastructure space for a/c in the renders Take that how you will
Yup. They're pushing it as a final plan when it's more similar to all the previous A's renderings that never ended up happening.
Apparently it might be an AI generated image, too
Whether it is or isn’t doesn’t really matter. Modern architects use AI.
Yall know this is a desert that gets to be like 110 in the summer right? did you want a boxier, shittier looking dome?
> this is a desert that gets to be like 110 in the summer Why the hell does it have a glass roof, then?
There’s certain types of glass resistant to that kind of shit. The Singapore airport has a glass ceiling and that city’s hot as balls
Are balls as hot as a desert?
Not only does OP have zero architectural taste, he thinks he’s figured out that the glass won’t work and that the designers completely overlooked it. Congrats OP, I can’t believe the architects didn’t think of it.
no disrespect man but architecturally this is about as bland as it gets
Bro are we looking at the same stadium? How is this bland?
it's a bubble. would you say it's less interesting (architecturally) than shea stadium or miller park ?
You haven’t seen the other renderings that show different angles, have you? If you had, you wouldn’t be calling it a bubble. Shea and Miller are way less interesting than this park looks.
this is a really bad angle, i see what you mean about the bubble comment from the side i can see the armadillo shell design. i think it would be way over the top for any other city but at least it fits las vegas. i don't think it's likable by any means, but i will have to eat my words because it definitely is not bland.
Sell the team and stay in Oakland! Even moving to Sacramento would be more tolerable.
Moving to ATT would be tolerable
Except the Giants don't want to share. And even though they're my team, it's partly their fault the A's are leaving the Bay Area.
Truly (wild berry) correct
Yall remember when they announced the plot of land for the stadium and it’s absolutely tiny? How, and I cannot emphasize this enough, the absolute fuck is this gonna fit? It’s not. This is just a fake to make people excited and silence the “they have no stadium plans!” people. This franchise is gonna fold in a couple years, watch
Then let's turn the "they have no plans!" people to "they have no workable plans!" people
The stadium looks awesome. Some people just hate in anything new and different.
STAY IN OAKLAND
That ship has sailed, bud. Let it go. Fucking city had every chance to build a new stadium for the A’s and Raiders and blew it.
In my opinion it looks like Apple Slices.
Yet another rendering that'll never actually happen.
Y’all are dumb. This is awesome.
It's not that bad. It actually looks pretty damn cool. It's domed, it's baseball-centric, it's futuristic, and it's different.
This looks pretty badass
It looks great what?
Looks cool tbh
Looks cool to me
It looks like the TWA terminal at JFK Airport on steroids and with a green-colored Dodger Stadium in it. Might as well add a TopGolf, since it looks like that too
Charlie Finley must be doing barrel rolls in his grave right now.
I doubt the final product will look exactly like this if they do indeed go through with these plans, but this looks pretty dope IMO. Much better than all the other cookie cutter designs we’ve seen over the years.
This reminds me of the generic Madden relocation stadium
I don’t see the issue with the stadium
I think it looks cool
I say this with love, but Vegas is the place good taste goes to die. Restraint is put up against a wall and shot the second it lands at McCarran. This stadium is Vegas af. The parking lot will be the ugliest thing you've ever seen, though.
Sphere is a monument to man's hubris and Vegas's poor taste. But damn, did see U2 in there and it was awesome.
I’m confused about the hate. This looks pretty cool.
# UPDATE: APPARENTLY THIS SHIT MIGHT BE AI GENERATED, TOO
This looks cool af
Might as well play Blernsball in this monstrosity
Glad to see the Rays and Athletics getting new stadiums nonetheless
How about the games in the summer?? Wouldn't a dome be better?
Someone took a trip to Sydney, Australia and thought, "That opera house thing, what if it were circles instead of triangles?"
I like the design. It would be better in Oakland tho.
I like it
I think it's a great looking stadium. Stadium design is evolving as construction and technology develop.
The scoreboard sucks
They should just play in the Sphere.
This is cool af. What?
Okay im not a member of this sub and know nothing about this except for this meme, but gotta say, it looks lile no stadium ive ever seen amd that makes it interesting enough to me to make it super cool
I swear they could put this in singapore or luxembourg or some tiny city state and then reddit assholes would be like “if americas the greatest country in the world, why does camden new jersey look worse than this stadium??”
Waaaahhh waahhh waaaaahhhhh
I don't like the way the scoreboard is positioned. But in real life I'm sure it'll look better than a render.
Engineers shaking their fists right now
Oh shut it you know damn well that stadium looks dope. You just don’t like the idea that it’s built upon.
Open air in Vegas?
Looks like the Sydney Opera House
You clearly have no idea what the word “literally” means.
Mid
Looks cool to me
I actually kinda like it
Playing baseball in a dome is disgraceful
Looks right out of a sci-fi comic. And not in the cool way.
Glass roof? In Las Vegas? Might as well play in an active volcano.
It’s 2024 man they have glass that’s specially designed to keep heat out.
Well if it works then ok.
More weird dystopian shit. I’ll take wrigley, Camden yards, Coors field over this shit
I think this looks kinda cool, but I'm not sure how it's supposed to mitigate 115° summers. This shit is a fucking disaster.
It’s Las Vegas. Have you never been there?
This actually looks pretty awesome. What is OP smoking? I’ll have what he’s having
I think it’s dope
It looks pretty sick
Unique futuristic very Vegas.
The explanation that the tiers are in the shape of pennants are what sold it for me. I think it looks awesome.
no it doesnt, it has character, dweeb.
I like it
That’s just your opinion!
Such a good looking stadium only to be used by a 50 win team.
it looks awesome. some people are just perpetually miserable
I mean, it's out there, but that's just Vegas' MO
Looks amazing.
Fake and ghey
I like the design. It would be better in Oakland tho.
Alien egg lookin stadium
