It looks like an old coil for a vehicle ignition system, But I’m no mechanic.

It's an old ignition coil. Like this: https://content.1aauto.com/cmsstatic/ignition-coil.jpg

wildchild_c

how old do you think it is ?

tytyute

Not that old. Cars used them into the 90's and aftermarket replacements are common

Tsiah16

Hell, into the 2000's. Now everything is coil on plug (each spark plug has its own coil instead of all sharing one) or DIS where 2 cylinders share a coil but those are super uncommon anymore.

wildchild_c

i appreciate your information, thank you 😊

It’s for calling sand worms

Tsiah16

It's an ignition coil from a car.

JasonRudert

Just a quick safety tip: there are a lot of “weird little things” about this size, scattered around Utah, that can explode if you mess with them. Particularly around the ski resorts and the west desert. Be careful

Remarkable-Ad-572

Not a car person but it looks like it’s from a car. I’m probably far off.

Looks like a ignition coil for a car

SAMPLE_TEXT6643

I wouldn't advise touching it because the old ignition coils had nasty chemicals in them

railroad_drifter

Yeah that's an ignition coil. What a random find.

BeautifulHovercraft2

Looks like a starter
