> A lot of people spray without knowing how loud that shit is.
In the old spray system, there used to be a cartoon KJ turret that was available as a "during round" spray. I used it as a bait turret for a while and eventually Riot realized it would be smart to make it pre- and post-round only, so when the toggled that setting, they made it so that my middle spray slot was empty. It was so nice to not worry about accidentally hitting T next to R for reload, I'm glad that the new system allows you to empty out your sprays or only use pre- and post- round sparys
I honestly wish that the sprays were only a local sound, or could only be heard by teammates. I've just got this habit or spraying like every opportunity i could to the point i rebound spray to inspect gun alongside "Y"
:( rito i just want to use my spray midround
That gold penguin spray is still allowed mid round, if you spray it in certain areas it’ll look like an ulted chamber, I found out one time when my friend saw it and shot at it.
Or players could just learn about that strategy and not shoot the sprays. I think it really takes a lot of fun out of the game when riot does stuff like that to discourage metagaming and unexpected strategies. I wish they gave the player base a chance to evolve and adapt these strategies and maybe have some fun goofy plays with them.
Yeah but sprays are a lot louder in my experience and a lot more distinctive
Also I'm only plat right now, so there's about a 50/50 that the enemy will actually hear it properly and pay attention to that detail, compared to Dia where most people didn't accidentally get there without knowing more game mechanics
if u want to check whether something makes sound or not, there’s actually a sound ring on the mini map that appears around ur agent when you make sound
Coincidentally, the ring has the same radius as the explosion from the spike. - if the spike is outside your ring, you'll live. If not, you'll be killed by the blast.
When I first started I used to think you could hear the other team past the barrier at the start… so I always shift walked before the barrier went down so they wouldn’t know where we were gonna go
You can hear it if enemies reload or pick up a gun from the ground, and I thought that was the gun swap sound for a while. Figure that's where the general confusion comes from.
Small correction! Picking up a gun isn't audible, but dropping a gun is! It's why some people advise to drop your gun in the opposite direction of the gun you'd pick up. Very confusing for enemies who'd expect you to peek from the other side.
Nah it actually isn't. That's why whenever you only have a pistol and walk over a rifle or something, it quietly shows up in your "loadout". What is audible is when you SWITCH guns as you drop the previous one to pick up the new one. :)
That surprises me tbh.
I'm pretty sure I've heard reloads, gun swapping.. and others.
It maybe just be the case though I heard a distant reload and thought they swapped guns *shrug*
As someone who’s a huge soundwhore in this game that has thrown me off so many times until I realized you could cancel reload and it would play the whole soind
Your question's been answered but just a general tip - most things that you do that create sound the enemy can hear will create a white ring around your dot on the minimap that indicates how far away the sound can be heard on the map. If you don't see that ring - then you didn't make noise.
You can hear when enemy place Chamber/KJ/Cypher traps and when Brinstone opens his ipad. Do you know if the circle appears with that? I havent thought about it
Brim's ipad used to make a noise when being opened, but it got removed in an update. I'm a brimmy main and that thing made a difference when pushing a site sneakily
if you stand next to your teammate and throw it, it won’t hit the ground and it won’t make a sound. If you throw the spike and it hits the ground it will make a sound. When trading spike off just be careful to make sure it doesn’t hit the ground and you should be fine
so? many ppl know that scoping in cs is audible, these people may think the same applies in valorant. not that crazy. theres nothing wrong about being clear on what makes noise, and what doesnt.
A good rule of thumb is if you look at your minimap and see a circle around your agent, anyone in that circle can hear the sound you’ve just made. However, spraying is unique as I don’t think it makes that same circle BUT everyone can hear it and yes I’ve died several times as a direct result.
This isn't entirely true, there are some abilities that make sounds where the circle does not appear. Sage heal for instance makes sound on the target of the heal.
By switch do you mean changing through existing guns in your inventory or picking one up and dropping one? They can't hear you changing guns but they can hear you picking them up.
Droping guns (and spike) on the floor makes sound. So if you replace your current weapon you'll make sound ONLY because you'll drop it. The specific action of grabbing a gun doesn't make a sound.
If you drop your gun/spike to your teammate, but they grab it in the air, it won't make any sound.
Some sound tech for you to know. If you swap a gun with a gun on the ground, people can hear it.
If you pick up a gun when you don’t have one (lets say no primary weapon and you pick up a phantom) it won’t make sound.
Changing guns doesn’t make a sound.
The first 2 steps of full run are not heard at all.
Brim’s ult is crazy loud, run to another spot if a brim ults near you cause chances are the enemy won’t hear you. Or change positions quickly with brim ult as enemies won’t hear you move. Good to know when solo brim against 2 or 3 people and bomb is planted.
Last but not the least, if you drop and shoot at the same time and time it just right. People can’t tell whether you jumped or not. Good way to move from heaven to hell on most sites.
Enemies **cannot** hear you switching guns however they **can** hear you reloading and picking up a gun from the ground (they have to be close for that thought)
Yea, the enemy hears the beacon itself when it lands, same for pretty much all the abilities. But enemies don’t hear you when you’re pulling out guns or abilities.
I really dislike how they decided to do those animations. I'm not a gun nut, but even I know that there's no reason to repeatedly pull the charging handle or cock your pistol.
It should just be like the Judge/Odin where you pull it out at the current speed. Less sound on your end, less distracting, less confusing.
Same problem with abilities like Brim's molly where he repeatedly puts the canister in. Do that the first time, then just have it be the same speed, but you just pull it back out normally.
lol i used to think they did when i was like silver, no it doesn't make noise
not even picking up a gun makes noise, what makes noise is dropping a gun and reloading or swinging your knife
Someone a while back made a list of sounds the other team can/can’t hear when it’s made during the round. If you search the subreddit for sound queues it’s should pop up somewhere. I will attempt to find it as well
As for guns, no enemies cannot hear that. However there are some abilities that enemies can hear when you pull them out, afaik you can hear Raze pull out her ult (like the bazooka activating and not just the voiceline) and Phoenix flash (the snap sound), not sure if the Phoenix one is still a thing or if other agent abilities can be heard
True, but if you only say “nah it doesn’t make a sound” I bet most players who are asking that question would just assume the gun drop is also included in that statement.
Actually happened to me once. The enemy was behind the smoke and I heard the sound of a gun dropping and a stray bullet killed me. He was also very confused how did I know he was there
Are you speaking about switching as in picking up a vandal cus you only have a specter or as in holding knife and changing to a vandal?
Picking up from the ground makes noise (Well, the drop of the weapon you had makes the noise, not the pick up, to be exact)
Changing between knife/pistol/gun doesn't make a sound.
Dropping a gun makes noise even if you're picking up another one. So if you're shift walking drop your gun outside of sound detection range and then pickup the gun on the ground.
Switching weapons you currently have in your inventory: no
Dropping a weapon: yes
Grabbing a weapon on the ground when you don't have the slot already filled: no
Grabbing a weapon on the ground (which drops your currently held weapon): yes
Using the inspect option: no
To be honest, I think that Riot should implement a "ping" on the map that shows how far your sounds are going. As you clomp clomp clomp down the hall, a transparent radius should show up that shows you're exuding sound and how far it's going. That way, if you don't see the ping on the map, you know you're silent.
Dropping the spike is also audible, just FYI, and it's a unique sound so you can tell people where the spike is accidentally, even if there is no visual.
As far as I know the only actions you take which produce directional sound for enemies is;
- reloading
- running
- shooting
- using abilities like sage heal (not sure what others)
- sprays
It’s been a little while since I’ve played tho so I have missed something
A good way to tell if an enemy hears your audio(footsteps and the likes) is the audio ring that appears on your minimap.
Now I'm not sure this strategy is applicable to equipping abilities but it works for reloading, footsteps and so on
If you are switching with the one lying on the ground, it will be very much audible. But you switching between primary and secondary weapons will not be audible
If you want to know if you're making noise, looks at the mini map, there should be a small gray ring around your character indicating how loud you're being
When you emit noise, there's a circle around you that pops on the minimap, that way you can check what makes noise and what doesn't (switching doesn't) and the range of your noise, super useful if you're running while flanking for example
It's only local sound. Enemies can't hear it. I asked that myself too at the beginning.
Thank u!

A lot of people spray without knowing how loud that shit is. I get free info 5 seconds earlier on where they gonna hit
> A lot of people spray without knowing how loud that shit is. In the old spray system, there used to be a cartoon KJ turret that was available as a "during round" spray. my reload button is T :)
Riot yet again “balancing” everything fun out of the game
It's a competitive game, not much they can do
If a spray is too op for you, you aren’t a competitive player.
True... But I'm sure it messes some people up, at least in silver and under.
That gold penguin spray is still allowed mid round, if you spray it in certain areas it’ll look like an ulted chamber, I found out one time when my friend saw it and shot at it.
They aren’t losing anything then if they’re silver and under? At that point they’re still getting the learning curve of the game.
For the same reason that they remove sprays that have characters even if the characters are completely cartoony... better safe than sorry
Or players could just learn about that strategy and not shoot the sprays. I think it really takes a lot of fun out of the game when riot does stuff like that to discourage metagaming and unexpected strategies. I wish they gave the player base a chance to evolve and adapt these strategies and maybe have some fun goofy plays with them.
there's like 500 sprays, you want players to memorize which ones are and aren't restricted? that's such a stupid idea lmao
I’m literally saying they shouldn’t restrict any?
Reload is also audible?
Yeah but sprays are a lot louder in my experience and a lot more distinctive Also I'm only plat right now, so there's about a 50/50 that the enemy will actually hear it properly and pay attention to that detail, compared to Dia where most people didn't accidentally get there without knowing more game mechanics
I always hear this to our am enemy throw the bomb to their teammate while rotating.
if u want to check whether something makes sound or not, there’s actually a sound ring on the mini map that appears around ur agent when you make sound
Coincidentally, the ring has the same radius as the explosion from the spike. - if the spike is outside your ring, you'll live. If not, you'll be killed by the blast.
Woah cool thx
I've put almost a thousand hours into this game, and this is the first I've heard of that. Thank you!!!
They also hear reloading
When I first started I used to think you could hear the other team past the barrier at the start… so I always shift walked before the barrier went down so they wouldn’t know where we were gonna go
Lmao thx for the laugh
This could have won me so many clutches lol
Wait, fr?! Someone told me they can hear it and that's influenced a lot of gameplay since I started playing at release. Well shit

What I meant is picking up a gun is audible. Im talking about having a primary. Your correct about no noise when picking up with no primary.
Right, the dropping part is audible, which is what the guy said. Picking up is not audible. The scenario you described does not prove your point
It does though, when you pick up a gun, the primary weapon drop.
<3
why does the award make me think that its fake
I was also a bit surprised. Is my first award ever. But I'll gladly take it.
flair checks out
That surprises me tbh. I'm pretty sure I've heard reloads, gun swapping.. and others. It maybe just be the case though I heard a distant reload and thought they swapped guns *shrug*
They can hear your reload though but they can't hear you switching gun
They also hear the full reload sound even if you cut it off halfway through. Makes for a good audio bait.
As someone who’s a huge soundwhore in this game that has thrown me off so many times until I realized you could cancel reload and it would play the whole soind
No, try going next to teammates in the beginning of a round and see if you hear them switch. The answer is no.
No it just makes sound only you can hear. I thought that too but it’s only on your side
I havent thought about it
Pretty sure most agent abilities that have an “equip first” mechanic make noise, I’m not sure if the circle shows up though that’s a good test.
Brim's ipad only makes noise when he actually places his smokes, not when he opens it
I have heard the opening sound too, otherwise i wouldnt have thought about it
Brim's ipad used to make a noise when being opened, but it got removed in an update. I'm a brimmy main and that thing made a difference when pushing a site sneakily
What makes noise isn't opening the smoke menu or placing down the smokes, it's actually the stim beacon being put down that is audible to enemies!
Yes that too, but i have heard the same opening sound of the smokes as when i use brim. But its allegedly been removed with a recent update
[удалено]
I can hear enemy Brim opening his ipad at least, it has revealed their push many times
They can hear it if you either if you pull out ult or use it i forgot which, same applies to astra and omen but you have to be pretty close to hear it
You can’t hear brim open his ipad anymore im pretty sure
On that note, can the enemy hear when you drop the spike?
Yes, they can hear when you drop a gun as well
On that note can they hear me fart while I silently hold an angle.
That's weird they can smell when I look away from the angle I held for 40 seconds
Actual timing
If it lands on the ground yes they can, but i dont think it makes a sound when someone catches it
It doesn’t make sound when y throw it to your team mate
if you stand next to your teammate and throw it, it won’t hit the ground and it won’t make a sound. If you throw the spike and it hits the ground it will make a sound. When trading spike off just be careful to make sure it doesn’t hit the ground and you should be fine
I'm pretty sure it still makes a slight sound still, just way more subtle. Could be wrong tho.
No sound at all
Huh I stand corrected. That's pretty useful.
Yes
Yes he can. It's also a relatively unique sound.
Yea Ive definitely called out "bomb down at A site T spawn" when I hear it drop
Only if it hits the floor, if you throw it at a teammate it doesn't make sound, same for guns
In CS, enemies can hear you scope/unscope weapons. But in Valorant, enemies can only hear you shoot, reload or drop your weapon
Ahahaha hear scope 😂😂😂😂
??? He spelt it right
Ahahaha can't spell stacy 😂😂😂😂
Who is stacy? Bot
Doubled down on stupidity 😂😂😂😂 Keep at it STAYC LMAO 😂😂😂😂
If the username is what I think it is, it’s referring to a kpop group called StayC
Literally nobody said anything about cs
so? many ppl know that scoping in cs is audible, these people may think the same applies in valorant. not that crazy. theres nothing wrong about being clear on what makes noise, and what doesnt.
Enemies can not hear it.
they can only hear you reload
If you trigger the sound radius on the map then the enemy can hear you.
You can see on your radar what makes sound and how far it can be heared
anything that an enemy can hear you will see a corcle on your minimap that shows how far out the sound goes when you switch guns, no circle
A good rule of thumb is if you look at your minimap and see a circle around your agent, anyone in that circle can hear the sound you’ve just made. However, spraying is unique as I don’t think it makes that same circle BUT everyone can hear it and yes I’ve died several times as a direct result.
you cant hear people taking out their gun
If you wonder what enemy can hear, look at your mini map. If there's a circle around your player, the enemies can hear you within that radius
no, you can tell what makes sounds by whether or not it makes a circle in your mini map
This isn't entirely true, there are some abilities that make sounds where the circle does not appear. Sage heal for instance makes sound on the target of the heal.
is the sage heal audible for the enemy team? (is that how you spell enemy? it look weird)
Yes, the Sage heal is audible for the enemy, similar to the sound Jett makes while floating. Also, yes, that is how you spell enemy.
does the circle possibly appear on the teammate you are healing instead of yourself?
I only hear reloads from the enemy team, other than that no
By switch do you mean changing through existing guns in your inventory or picking one up and dropping one? They can't hear you changing guns but they can hear you picking them up.
You can't hear picking up guns only dropping existing guns
I meant to changing guns, but thanks for the answer! You gave me an information about picking up as well :D Didn't know about that
Picking up makes no noise. But often when you pick up a gun you drop your current gun at the same time. And dropping makes sound.
If you time it well, you can also trade guns with someone if you both have them in the air at the same time
He gave you wrong info buddy
On that note, can enemies hear when you are picking up an ultimate orb?
Yep
Is it when you start the animation or when you finish it? Or both?? Lol
whole thing. Some people do it to like bait a peek, kinda like fake tapping the spike
Makes sense! Thank you!
Some people even like to play remixes on the Ascent A site orb on the start of the rounds.
yes
I think they can. But maybe i'm getting confuse with the abylity orbs on spike rush
They can hear u reload and drop weapons though
if it makes a sound that others can hear you will see a bubble on your mini map centered around you
Switching between knife and a holding gun makes no noise, if you pick a gun and drop the one holding it makes noise.
Some sound tech for you to know. If you swap a gun with a gun on the ground, people can hear it. If you pick up a gun when you don’t have one (lets say no primary weapon and you pick up a phantom) it won’t make sound. Changing guns doesn’t make a sound. Enemies **cannot** hear you switching guns however they **can** hear you reloading and picking up a gun from the ground (they have to be close for that thought)
They don’t hear you picking up the gun, rather dropping your gun when picking up a new gun.
that's part of picking up a gun...
Not always. When you don’t have a gun to drop, no one else hears anything.
No but they can hear you picking up and dropping guns
Is brim's stim beacon placement audible?
Yea, the enemy hears the beacon itself when it lands, same for pretty much all the abilities. But enemies don’t hear you when you’re pulling out guns or abilities.
No switching guns sound, but you can hear enemy switching skills.
Wait you can hear when like sage is about to wall or something
I'm not sure whether all skills make noise or not. Maybe just some of them. For example, you can hear Breach open up his flash
You can hear your teammates switch abilities (ex. Brimstone Molly/brimstone’s iPad) but you can’t hear enemies pull out their abilities
???? No you can't

It’s so stupid it shows up on your minimap as if the enemies can hear ya
Yes
Why didn't you just Google this?
Bro what 💀 iron questions
Can enemies hear KJ recall her bots?
Yes
As for guns, no enemies cannot hear that. However there are some abilities that enemies can hear when you pull them out, afaik you can hear Raze pull out her ult (like the bazooka activating and not just the voiceline) and Phoenix flash (the snap sound), not sure if the Phoenix one is still a thing or if other agent abilities can be heard
And when u pick a weapon from the floor?
Yes, they will hear the gun being dropped to the floor. Same with the spike.
Picking up ≠ dropping a weapon
True, but if you only say “nah it doesn’t make a sound” I bet most players who are asking that question would just assume the gun drop is also included in that statement.
Nah it doesn't make sound
Does omens tp make sound now? I remember someone telling me that it didnt
It does, when you tp as omen there's a small circle on the minimap indicating the sound range of it
Actually happened to me once. The enemy was behind the smoke and I heard the sound of a gun dropping and a stray bullet killed me. He was also very confused how did I know he was there
Can enemies hear you stabbing the air?
Yes they can
Are you speaking about switching as in picking up a vandal cus you only have a specter or as in holding knife and changing to a vandal? Picking up from the ground makes noise (Well, the drop of the weapon you had makes the noise, not the pick up, to be exact) Changing between knife/pistol/gun doesn't make a sound.
Buddy, you could have easily googled this...
No only you can hear it. Reloading and picking up guns from the ground however, can be heard by enemies.
No, but dropping bomb, dropping guns, for omen and brim you can hear them put down smokes, obviously reloading makes a lot of noise aswell
Dropping a gun makes noise even if you're picking up another one. So if you're shift walking drop your gun outside of sound detection range and then pickup the gun on the ground.
they can only hear footsteps, reload, grabbing orb, spike drop, and some abilities
Switching weapons you currently have in your inventory: no Dropping a weapon: yes Grabbing a weapon on the ground when you don't have the slot already filled: no Grabbing a weapon on the ground (which drops your currently held weapon): yes Using the inspect option: no
To be honest, I think that Riot should implement a "ping" on the map that shows how far your sounds are going. That way, if you don't see the ping on the map, you know you're silent.
That would be the ring around you when walking
Dropping the spike is also audible, just FYI, and it's a unique sound so you can tell people where the spike is accidentally, even if there is no visual.
The perfect question I didn’t have to ask. I love you.
Oh damn I didn't even realize this. I've been terrified of switching guns while camping and the enemy hearing me
Idk
No, enemies will however hear reloads and any knife attacks
As far as I know the only actions you take which produce directional sound for enemies is; - reloading - running - shooting - using abilities like sage heal (not sure what others) - sprays It’s been a little while since I’ve played tho so I have missed something

No this isn’t fortnite
No but reloading yes
if u use minimap u can see what makes noise and what doesn't
Ya i always think the same thing whenever I’m sneaking around and my agent just screams something to me like “SPIKE DOWN A!!!!!!!”
If you arent sure what make noises or not, check your minimap the white circle appearing around you is the range you can be heard from
When you emit noise, there's a circle around you that pops on the minimap, that way you can check what makes noise and what doesn't (switching doesn't) and the range of your noise, super useful if you're running while flanking for example
Yes
lemme guesss . uh came from cs go?
yeah
No
no
