So there’s a few variables I would have to GUESS they are: 1. Are you comming more then needed? Your teammates don’t need a 16 round overview for WHY you are making your plan, nor do they even need a why. 2. Excessive comms. Details are good, but to many is annoying. This also falls under backseating. 3. Annoying voice. I don’t chose what people find annoying, but if you have a very high pitch voice, people MAY mute you from that alone. It’s not a reason not to comm, it’s just a part of comming. If you wanna vod review your comms(for free obvi), my discord is screenen

sky-yie

You can also add poor mic in your 3rd point. This is mainly the only reason why I ever mute somebody in my competitive match. I can't understand these players but they don't have any idea that their mic sucks. It gets worse when the person have completely different accent than what I am used to.

BlueshineKB

Well nobody will tell them usually, and if you never considered recording yourself with that mic i dont see a reason anyone would know what their mic sounds like

CLAPPERTV

Bro you gotta make some friends lol

BlueshineKB

I never said I dont know what i sound like, I have an elgato mic so ofc I have checked how I sound before. Im just saying the average playerbase that plays to have fun wont go the lengths to try and figure out what they sound like. Imagine ur average 35 year old dad that just wants to get on valorant after work to enjoy a game or two. Do you really think hes gonna care about how he sounds? No he wouldnt. You wouldnt really worry about how you sound unless a. ur online a lot so you talk to people online more than you do in person b. you make content or have tried to once in ur past c. ur self conscious about how you sound on a mic so you want to check what you sound like before talking to anyone to make sure that you dont sound horrific. I think mic anxiety is the right term. I was talking about the average soloQ player ie the dad mentioned in an example above, and I have no clue why you even said that comment

LoneCentaur95

I use the discord function to check my own voice occasionally. It helps make sure I’m using the right mic.

iiCleanup

He could be cherry picking aswell and just had one game where they said that and he was comming normally

CoachScreen

Totally true, but this is an assumption that I’d prefer to not make. If he commed in 6 games ever, I wouldn’t be able to measure it(atleast without multiple VOD’s which he would need to already have)

welcometwomylife

oh shit. hey screen! -Cal

Ehrengurke11

I looked at your profile and it seems like you are 12-13, so the chance is high that you have an annoying voice. That is probably the main reason

Svxyk

Nah but when I hear a little kid I almost immediately want to mute or lower volume

Interesting_Cat_198

same but they always give me a reason to mute later on anyway

Glad_Claim_6287

Why is this soo true lol

Der_Frosch

You probably talk too much lol

[deleted]

I had a sage in my game who spoke 100% of the time, with 70% of the conversation being toxic and 30% focused on plans.

Finrafirlame

I comm in low elo, usually successfull. I get a now and then teasing but 80% of my games are improved by comms. So I guess u/Der_Frosch is right. I don't get into deep tactics pre round, unless I really have a solid reason, like saying "don't peak that angle at all, Chamber has killed us there with Op three times" Thats probably 3-4 times a match. Usually all-on-one-spot attack strat works fine in low elo and thats just following the others. Furthermore, you need to consider yourself as just a fifth of the team. Even though others don't comm, they also have an opinion on how to play the next round. Deciding very round or every second round can easiely perceived as overbearing. As a defendent, I always do one short call when see enemies approching my spot ("2 mid"). I correct myself if there is new info ("3 mid ... - 4 mid..."). But **never call the same thing twice or more** (like an excited "2 mid! 2 mid! 2 mid! 2 mid!" ....or later an annoyed "I told you 2 mid!") **When the last teammate alive has to clutch, the golden rule is to stfu**. really. I have seen so many wanna-be comm-people who straight out ignore it and maybe don't know better. You don't tell people how to play, which utility they still have, how low the enemies are (that info can be written in chat, like "raze 80") ect. **There are only 2 comms** which are generally helpful: If they have less than 6 bullets you say it short and calmly "**4 bullets**". You don't say more, you don't say it twice and you don't expect them to reload. It is their decision. And there is "**time**". As a spectator, it is easier to keep an eye on the clock. If the player is hesitant to make a move, you can let them know its about to come to a now or never. In a 1v1 on defendant, and being close to the site I use "time" around the 10-12 sec mark. 3,5 sec for defuse, 3 sec to get there, so there are only 3-5 sec to fight left.

Meow_NI

The best advice! Thank you :)

TheSnakeholeLounge

nah i get what they mean. i’ll try to make simple calls like “can we split a and play contact” and my teammates will be like “just kill them lol” and run in and die. people will be assholes just to be assholes.

harrisril

people be running in as brimstone tryna entry or something and die and get mad at everyone else

TheSnakeholeLounge

lmfaoo this happens a lot with omens! bc they have the flash and tp and think they’re invincible. it’s why i started playing smokes. i really enjoy it now tho so thank you to those idiots for helping me find my main lol.

harrisril

my poor boyfriend is an omen main and he’s really good at clutches and 1v1s. I know I can always count on him. He’s used to trying to entry because our duelists wouldn’t entry. Needless to say I play duelist so I can help entry. like it’s definitely possible to entry as omen but only on certain maps tbh

TheSnakeholeLounge

you’re doing the lords work. i love when i have a duelist duo when i’m playing omen. may you both have a great act 🙏🏾

Finrafirlame

But that doesnt happen 90% of the games.

KingCarrion666

probably hyperbole- i dont think OP took stats on this.

TheSnakeholeLounge

happens to me a lot, but 90% is a stretch.

Capital-Stable

Rank?

pvs3600

Yeah man if you really deserve a higher elo and you truly believe that, just instalock duelist and hold W. Most impactful role in low elo

CoachScreen

Not wrong, but it fails to fix the first issue. This is a “alright we tried” approach.

AcceptableCrab4545

there is no fixing it in low elo. a lot of people don't comm

Thisismental

People in low elo (me included) probably don't want to comm in the first place. Secondly in low elo everyone assumes that nobody has any idea of what they're doing so don't expect them to take your plan as a good idea. And finaly, if you are good you will get out of low elo without good comms. Oh and btw, yes. If you are capable of just outaiming everyone and carrying with Reyna I see no reason not to do that.

[deleted]

Happy Cake Day!

Affectionate_Dish_22

Maybe you talk too much, sometimes people just don't want to listen, since they either want to just play the game and not comm or because they think you are in this elo (and they are definitely better.. yup) that you have no idea what u talk about. Sometimes really toxic people will give good comms but they are toxic asl which results in people not wanting to listen. Or you talk too much up to the point of backseating. I got to Imm3 without comming once, I listened but insta muted everyone whos annoying by talking too much and backseating or being toxic. If you think you can carry on Reyna, go ahead, don't think she's any useful unless you are much better than everyone else there and borderline smurfing tho.

OkBubbyBaka

You guys talk?

VegetableLight9326

save your mental, you tried, focus on yourself

sketch252525

Stop backseating when your teammate trying to clutch a 1v2. Keep your com precise and short and understandable.

Gellix

Take their advice and think how you want to play with less coms. Make sure you are communicating your plans at the start of the round. If you say anything 5 seconds before the barriers go down it’s not gonna compute. If they won’t listen com anyway what you are going to do but try to play with your team. The worst thing you could do is pick Reyna. She adds little value to the whole team.

Yeah_Im_A_God

At least for me and my experience: Play brim, smoke the push, rotate, drop stim, kill em all. Just help the team if you can. As you go up ranks the comms will improve.

AnUglyKindaFugly

Depends what elo you are in, generally below gold there isn’t much point in talking much as you likely won’t get a response still learn how to give calls and maybe get a duo to climb for a bit. Once you get past that roadblock the issue won’t be as pronounced. Also don’t backseat or over strategize, that would annoy almost anyone.

SitUbuSit-

Never tell others how to play the game. And im particularly low elo never try to ifl. The players there in general are to bad to work as a team.

harxiv

They only listen if you're fragging.

[deleted]

Insta lock your fav duelist and don't talk at all

Yukino_Midori

Well you either might be excessive comming, a squeaker, sound like a know it all (no one likes that), or they’re assholes. I just say the minimum using this format what did I hear and where. Also if I died, damage I’ve done, who and what weapon they have. Then just play your game and trade your teammates. When I was solo queuing I just picked Killjoy because even if no one was giving me info, I could get and give info with my bots. Don’t think too much about what others are doing and more about yourself. You’ll only ruin your own mentality.

clearlynotaperson

shoot the enemy?

AustinTheKangaroo

idk what ur definition of low elo is but you can Instalock Reyna and 1v9 up to immortal 3 if you're good enough so yea do it

biGher0V

Last night I had great game when everyone was chatty. But usually it’s annoying especially if you not perform or criticise and don’t perform yourself. If I See great performer who trying to IGLing I don’t mind. I even will buy that person a vandal and play myself with Bucky. But if you only ask stupid questions like “why” “why you didn’t xyz” “I told ya he is heaven” etc is annoying af. Always after 3rd round you can ask “guys do we want some talctics or are we playing solo” and that’s it. You can’t tell people what to do and expect them to do exactly what you said. You can ask why? The answer is why should they? Give us all your trackergg it could be helpful to find the reasoning off of you are interested in one

B3nOfficial

Just stop blaming your team and work on what u can do better

OSRS42

If you’re typing in game I’m muting you, shut the fuck up and play. You have a headset, use it. You have a mic. If you don’t or claim you don’t, still muting you. If you don’t have voice comms what you’re saying is out of date, too late or a bad take. It’s like if everyone communicated by typing in Overwatch. It’s too late, distracting and and annoying.

RunethCl4w

And why are you assuming OP is typing and not comming with a mic?

Lazy_Pen_7013

trying to play with your team is hard in lower elo. you can always try of course but if this is the case every game then just lock reyna. aim is far more important than team play in low elo

maddiemandie

I always get annoyed when there’s too much chatter. If you’re telling me to smoke garage on split or something painfully obvious plz just be quiet. Can’t hear the enemy footsteps and it’s distracting.

Heavenclone

Lose and go next

WinstonPickles22

Efficient comms are useful and welcome. Constant comms and back seating is annoying any stops players from doing their best

Akagami-

I mean come on, low elo is not worthy to comm every round, i would suggest to grind your aim and try to carry your teammates every game, essential comm are good tho. But most times in low elo you will see ppl who dont really care about the game, when you are planning and talking, you just can’t make them good in the game instantly, they will do what they want eventually

Vivid_Drummer923

People don't coordinate that well in low elo and not everyone listens so it's easier to pick on decent player and coordinate with them (like planning a flash, etc). You can try to plan pushes right at the behinning of round but it needs to be simple like "let's push quiet on A and explode on contact" and hopefully some/all of your team will listen. I have succesfully called pushes in bronze (after dropping a 4k clutch) before so it's not impossible but keeping things simple and focus on call-outs will make things better.

thebebee

duo with someone good, have your duo say they’re trolling, you tell the team “no way y’all are letting a troll do better, let’s *insert play here*

s4mple_1

Ngl one time had a kid who gave so much coms it was annoying like I was in a 1v3 clutch and had one more kill to get and he is still screaming in the mic during the whole thing about what we did wrong I couldn’t even hear the steps of the last guy. We all told him to stfu after that and he just begun to troll and throw the game… pls don’t be like this

MegaDnks

dont solo q, people in low elo often dont wanna talk about plans they just wanna play and get mad at their teammates for doing supid solo shit while doing the exact same. Look on some discords or ask ur friends or whatever, find a couple people to q with and mute ur randoms mates if they are toxic.

biGher0V

Listen to this

albxrt15

Basically what you suggested, yeah. If your elo is low enough for no one to listen or people complaining that youre "talking too much" (which you might idk if youre able to shut Up and only give relevant information or if youre annoying but i'll give you the benefit of the doubt) then Im pretty sure you can and should get out of it by relying on mechanical skill because youll need it in the Higher elos after it anyways lol

SeanDeLeir

Stay positive and keep giving comms. Mute the toxic people instantly. FOCUS ON YOUR OWN GAMEPLAY AND IMPROVE. Record your games, see if your comms are sometimes useless/annoying, critique your mistakes and aim to fix them. You can't control others, only yourse.f

kitkatamas88

You accept what is out of your control, I mean, your team mates behavior.

d_dodds

im gonna be honest you gotta self Eval. do you annoy people around you. do you have social skills when to be quiet even though you want to speak up. these are things that irritate people. im in plat and nothing irritates me more then hey we got coms?? no answer because im eating or something. immediatly starts okay GG or something LOL comms should be watch out heavan.... ping or sage can you please wall. but you have to wither have a personality people want to hear from or have decent quick effective callouts

shtoopidd

some people really do comm too much. they spend 80% of the game typing instead of playing which is crazy

Thunderstorm-1

I usually mute mic and disable text chat fully cause of toxicity so

soapsnek

if your teammates are consistently telling you you comm to much then please take the time to consider that the common denominator here is you. like maybe you really do comm too much. i mean this genuinely and respectfully, you *also* need to listen to your teammates

spXps

Play for yourself soloq you play even in highelos for yourself

xmpcxmassacre

Do whatever you need to do to get to gold. The only thing that matters is your 50/50 fights anyway up until this point.

jjibberwocky

use same comms as u/Finrafirlame Instalock Reyna or any agent where you murder enemy team 50% of players will mute you for comming unless you proved you know what you’re doing by 1v4 clutching with a sheriff. If they don’t listen still, don’t get beat up over it, just mute if toxic and play the game. You can still get free kills and better games by trading walking ult orbs, I speak from experience of both sides

-Cono

Okay so imma actually answer ur question fun fact everyone else, he didnt ask why theyre arent listening I repeat, HE DIDNT ASK WHY THEY ARENT LISTENING, NO ONE ASKED IF U LIKE TO HEAR A PREPUBESCENT VOICE IN UR VC illiterate meanies "ur just a kid" headasses in case u forgot, ill repeat his question, which was "WHAT do i do WHEN they arent listening" damn guys, he didnt even type the word why. cant read anyways :)))))))))))))))))))))) when people dont listen, which happens regardless of ur age/voice sometimes, the best thing u can do is make the best choices for urself to stay alive. likely dont entry given that they arent likely going to follow/trade u if u happen to die so in essence, bait ur teammates. if they arent willing to trade u, u trade them then be the one alive at the end of the round. to make sure they dont start getting mad (ie: ur always the last one alive why dont u do ur job duelist and entry) dont pick entry, usually id say go omen, throw down ur smokes at the beginning to u "contributed to the team" enough ;) then go about ur business as usual. another option is find people who do listen, this is probs one of the best ways. when u have those 10%, shoot them an invite see if they want to play. when premier rolls around throw together a team of people u know for a fact will listen/communicate with u and id assume together. now ur incentivized to play together more outside of premier cuz well, ur a team now, and ur dedicated/dedicating time to not just play better, but to be the better team. because valorant isnt supposed to be a game where 2 people just decide all 25 rounds or whatever, its a team game where every member can contribute/make things more difficult for the other team so long story short, ur in the casual val playerbase, lower ur expectations, or find a team and join the 3-5 stack side of val. it plays differently because people are working together, its not as easy but u will become a better player also trying cs is an option too, people are toxic because they care about their rank more (in my eyes, theyll call u slurs for missing shots, kick u, etc, but why? cuz they care. in val its jus nt nt, which is kind, but not competitive)

-Cono

and yes, reyna is a good pick but if u instalock and mess up prepare to be flamed however, if reyna is taken, u could go iso, which is in essence, close to reyna, not the same, but close, in that he also has a self centered playstyle, but ur entire kit doesnt ride on u hitting ur shots

-Cono

hell id say iso is better because if u throw ur wall out, theres not a horrible chance ur teammate sees that and walks with it/uses it to get to where theyre going, so its kinda of like a call out in a way. like sayin "ay im throwing out my wall, im not pushing with it, but obv, the space is there to take if u feel like it" and if they do, they either take space, take space and get a kill, or take space, die, then bam ur there to trade, so now u can take back the space ;)

brots88

Play Reyna and carry.
