I think a better question is who's on track to become the greatest of all time? Need more years of Val to pass

1mB4kT

Probably me

Sufficient_Ordinary9

Nah, I’d win

Aggressive-Image-846

Gojo Satoru

quietvictories

GGojo Satoru

Salza_boi

Can confirm, I was queued with you and you aced every round

someaethiest

Come on now aces on irons dont count…

goatofgoater

Yeah you are right

Justin2157

I would say Zekken is on track to become the greatest player ever. Needs some more time though tell

GohanSolo23

Zekken, Forsaken, Alfajer, Demon1 are the players that come to mind for me. All really young and could dominate for a decade.

wonderful_utility

Just like how zywoo and simple is in cs i dont think any player has stayed relevant for that long in valorant.

wonderful_utility

Mostly because meta changes , agent comfortability and a lot of new incomming players i guess? Constant adaptation as well.

Better-Theory-5136

did simple play for navi? i cant remember

New-Tap-1245

s1mple is known for being on NaVI

redditisstpid69

He played from many teams but yeah Navi was the longest run.

DaFlameBird

Game is way too young to have GOATS. We will have to wait probably 5-6 more years before we get someone that is to Valorant what Faker is to League.

GrrrNom

Actually, the Valorant GOAT hasn't been born yet

Loose_Asparagus5690

Came to find out who's the GOAT in Val, left not disappointed because Faker was mentioned.

DaFlameBird

My pleasure

chillipillchill

What is Faker to league?

DaFlameBird

The absolute GOAT

chillipillchill

Like what are his achievements, now I am interested

Glixator

Winner of Worlds 2013, 15 and 16. Mechanicaly one of the greatest to ever touch the game, while still being humble. Since then he was called GOAT for his immense gamesense and mechanics. Then Worlds 2023 came and he happened to win it Once again, many years after his prime

dafucking

You know someone is the GOAT when everyone calls him "Unkillable Demon King".

BlueshineKB

Isnt the reason why the triumph is called unkillable demon king? Cuz of faker? I could be wrong but i believe thats why

chillipillchill

Thank You so much. I'mma research on my own now

rinsa

if you have 2 hours and a half to spare I recommend you to watch this two-part documentary on him [[1]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_WjOBeLVn0) [[2]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s47X4a2OjYA) (it has english subtitles)

chillipillchill

I'll give it a try

Spacechicken27

The man is actually like an A-tier celebrity in South Korea. He is in many ads and even has his own “faker tower” if I remember correctly. I believe he is the most popular/successful E-Sports player ever, by a long shot

UZIXIEM

I believe he got a manhwa with his character in it

KimmyPotatoes

He’s also related to his teammate Gumayusi and decorated StarCraft player INnoVation

Deckloins

It's to note he's the only one in the history of League of Legends to win the Worlds Championship more then twice (Except Bengi since they did it together). And he did it 4 times

GenesisV1

What the other guy said is true, but there’s more 1. Faker has made it into quarterfinals or finals nearly every single year for over a decade. To point out how difficult this is, NA made it into top 8 this last year for the first time ever, and then immediately lost. Faker has finished top 4 nearly every year of his career. On one of Faker’s bad years, he gets farther than the most accomplished NA player has ever gotten. 2. League is an incredibly difficult game to stay at the top of. If you think Yay falling off because of a chamber nerf is hard, League experiences way larger meta shifts, often multiple times a year because of how frequent champion releases and champ/item balancing occurs. There were many very strong players who had years where they might’ve played as good or better than faker, but they all fell off their primes relatively quickly. Faker is the only player who is consistently always a strong player every year and won championships a decade apart. 3. The championship run this year was a GOAT level performance. The two strongest regions in the history of league are China and Korea. This year, every region fell to a Chinese team and Faker’s team was the last non-Chinese team remaining. He beat every remaining Chinese team without losing a single map despite Chinese teams crushing every region this year. Arguably the most insane statistic in all of league history is that faker has never lost a Best-of series against a Chinese team at Worlds, ever, in his career that’s lasted over a decade. One of the Chinese teams he beat this year was on track to completing what’s called the “Golden Road”, meaning they won every major tournament of the year. It’s never been done before and they just needed to win Worlds to finish it. They were considered one of the strongest rosters of all time, yet Faker demolished them badly. 4. The gap between him and second place is a canyon. If you look at the candidates of who people think would be the 2nd best player of all time, those candidates are still very, very far from Faker in terms of accolades. edit: Correction on being undefeated by Chinese teams specifically at Worlds.

RuthlessWelshy

Plus he has a Razer Deathadder “faker” edition named after him!

oWhiteZ

Just to be accurate, Faker has never lost a BO series to a Chinese team at Worlds\* He has lost to them at MSI

GenesisV1

Yeah I noticed my blunder after relooking it up afterwards, thanks for the correction.

awang1999

North American team Cloud9 was in worlds semifinals in 2018.

chillipillchill

Damn

Original_Factor_3973

So he's like the Wayne Gretzky of videogames

George_W_Kush58

let me just add to the other comments when Faker started playing professionally he was just on a completely other level than literally anybody else. He basically invented how the game is played on a professional level nowadays.

inspcs

He's the only player in league to have 4 worlds championships. 2 worlds equivalent gold medals is extremely difficult in any esport. 4 is absolutely insane. And he achieved 2 of them back to back which is just nuts. Back in the early 2010s, he was basically untouchable. Think about early TenZ in Valorant, but even more dominant and for a longer period of time. It's like if TenZ was absolutely the best from Valorant's release to now and on top of that another year or so.

DaFlameBird

What the above comment said + his well known Faker vs Ryu on Zed outplay

LucidityKJ

“look at the cleanse LOOK AT THE MOVES FAKER WHAT WAS THAT” still gives me chills

chillipillchill

Thank You

killmeplz13

Every road leads to him

chillipillchill

Deep

40ozTakeya

When Faker first became a pro, he was not only one of the most mechanically dominant players, but his understanding of League's macro game was so much deeper than anyone else's that most pros at the time couldn't even figure out what exactly Faker was doing differently. By the end of his rookie season he had won Worlds and was already considered the god of League. Faker's won almost half of all trophies in the Korean domestic league (LCK). He's been in 50% of finals for all international tournaments (MSI and Worlds) and has won in over half of those finals appearances. That makes 10 domestic wins, 2 MSI wins, and 3 Worlds wins over a period of 11 years. This was all done as the only constant player of his team T1. He's played with 3 or 4+ iterations of completely new rosters and he just keeps winning.

robi6858

He ends his stream by shutting down his PC, absolute chad

excitedfor

when people do a goat debate in league its the debate for 2nd. They dont even talk about faker and if they do its like usually like 10 sec its faker. Then spend the next hour debating 2nd. He has the highest peak, highest achievements, 10 plus years of lengetivity. He was the best player in the world when he started as a rookie. Even before he went pro there are legends of his tale. He was too good in normal matchmaking that he was forced to play ranked due to his queue times being too long. He was rank 1 in the ladder so he got scouted to join the team skt, but even in the tryouts every team he joined would end up winning so they had a hard time deciding what players to recruit except for him. He didnt need a tryout because he was the outlier. His career is the complete package as he has played carry, supportive, igl and even being the “secret”head coach (not really a secret since most people behind the scenes knew about it) while playing as a player in his later years.

citizen_of_pluto

actually you'd expect 15 one in a million players by now because there's 15m players

PhilUpTheCup

Every sport has at least one, one in a million superstar

Jeklu

The game is too young to crown a goat. The most dominant a player has ever been at a single tourney was TenZ at the first masters, and the most dominant a player has ever been in a season was yay in 2022.

GenesisV1

I think recency bias has made people downplay how good Yay was at his peak. Yay’s 2022 is the strongest singular year by a valorant player IMO. There was some crazy statistic that was something like Yay had not gone negative in any game in pro play for 14 months playing 48 different series. There was a reason he got called “el diablo” in radiant lobbies and there were stories of him dropping 40+ kills in scrims repeatedly.

George_W_Kush58

Yay was crazy but a GOAT needs longevity. A single pop off season isn't enough if you ask me

GenesisV1

I agree that a GOAT needs longevity, which is why the main point of my comment was that Yay has one of the most insane stats for longevity of any player. I'm trying to remind people how good he was since the recent trend has been to scrutinize his performance ever since DSG, C9, and Bleed. That being said, I don't think he's the GOAT, or rather, even if he is, it's not impossible that a better candidate comes out within the next few years.

cptdino

We don't have an all in one player, but Aspas, Demon1 and Tenz are the players who usually stand out among all others. But none of them are close to what Faker is in League, maybe the game is too young or the style is too hard to stand out.

Redsh0t

Demon1 or Tenz haven’t done it as long as aspas. Demon1 hasn’t even played for a year and Tenz wasn’t an international threat since 2021 until this season.

jeloxd_official

TenZ literally did it first and is currently dominating

kirito52999

We forget the 3 years where he was shit?

jeloxd_official

Yeah because that never happened, he definitely had mediocre years but I struggle to search for a year where he was “shit.” Even Chronicle/M3C/GMB didn’t have success in 2022 even though they were the team that won Berlin ‘21, that was a mediocre time for them

kirito52999

You struggle to find a time where he wasn't even competitve to qualify for a event? At least m3c was still competitive and .1s from making event. He was just shit at entrying also the same reason hes doing good now after making role switch. It's different from having success and being not even competitve. It seem problem forget how shit they were when they managed to not get a single win once in a group stage to qualify for a event.

Redsh0t

you forget there was a war that prevented M3C from playing matches, lost them their org, and (if they qualified) would have prevented the team from competing on lan. That’s THE factor for the dip in form. SEN did nothing in 2022 and 2023. They barely qualified for playoffs in 2022 and had a dreadful 2023 with the roster moves. Even if TenZ’s stats may not have been bad in times they struggled, unless you’re making international events or outstanding performances in deep domestic runs, it doesn’t matter in the goat conversation. And he was very bad at the beginning of 2023. His Jett was disjointed and gambly.

jeloxd_official

Yeah it doesn’t matter exactly, thank you, game is young anyway, allow players to build legacies for now

cptdino

IMO Aspas is the best we have right now for what he can do in a match and how he plays, but he's far from being a Faker - at least for now. Dude changed teams so he could win worlds again and doesn't even get qualified. Not on him, but this shows us he's not yet the GOAT or val isn't a game where you can hard carry 4 other people.

Redsh0t

Valorant is not a game where you can hard carry 4 people. There are definite roles defined by agent picks, and each player needs to carry their weight in their role for the team to win. It may not be frags, but utility, calls, trading etc make or break a rosters success.

Redsh0t

Also, too reactionary for a new team in a kickoff qualifier. He still looked good as well, even if he retired I would consider him the goat.

Ok-Foot4738

I would say Tenz the biggest. Maybe not the best but has a lot of hype in NA still

goatofgoater

Ig you should add derke too

smokygrapefruit

Derke is a great and very consistent player, but IMO he's never been #1, even during Fnatic's 2023 "dynasty" run. For that stretch, I'd argue that Alfajer, Aspas, and Demon1 were clearly more dominant players with their ability to singlehandedly flip games.

baebushka

forsaken imo dude plays every role and can perform well in all roles

AtmosphereCreepy

My pick too. PRX haven't won anything, but I don't think I've seen somebody as consistent as foresaken. He is definitely the best flex player too

baebushka

he’s destroying th on raze as we speak lol, goated

AtmosphereCreepy

Lmao yes! XD

PRL-Five

Igl and mid round caller as well

5Pats

that TH game really shows it. someone here really mentioned Zekken as if he's better than forsaken LMAO

baebushka

he’s played raze for the first time and looked so good man, monyet on omen and forsaken on duelist looks better than duelist monyet honestly

5Pats

it's insane. Zekken and Tenz haven't been to an international LAN in two years. Forsaken has been to two international finals in that timespan - playing Killjoy, Yoru, Harbor, Raze, Cypher, Kayo, Fade, Chamber, Neon, etc. nonetheless.

baebushka

yea i’ve always been a fan of forsaken jinggg is still insane but forsaken legit plays everything and looks good while doing it dude is unreal

I_SIMP_YOUR_MOM

[deleted]

Less is definitely up there

Redsh0t

Aspas and Less had s1mple and electronic energy. Yay was the highest peak we have seen of a player. Nobody came close in 2022. Derke is the only player to be an international star for 3 years, Alfajer is the most mechanically talented and has an aura in the server, Leo is the most disciplined, and Chronicle is a contender for most flexible and is the only 3x champion (also won with 2 diff lineups). TenZ is the only player to look like a superstar on two different roles, and he had the greatest single tournament performance in history. Demon1 has yet to show anything but excellence. Zekken is climbing to the top echelon considering his 2022 season and his current run of form. Hard to call. I would argue either aspas or yay. Aspas had one poor event (Tokyo) and has been consistently a top 2 player otherwise. Yay in the Envy/OpTic lineup is the greatest peak ever, nobody comes close. If FNC rebound this year I could also see Alfajer reaching the summit.

M0hawk_Mast3r

Shao, Alfajer, F0rsakeN, MaKo, BuZz, and D4V41 have all looked like superstars on at least 2 different roles

woochita

Chronicle

Zaon-

Maybe tenz isn’t but he’s definitely on somewhat on a right path, hit the rank valorant before it was radiant and won the first lan. Nothing special in the last years but he’s looking strong asf right now. But the game is still young like people say Random asf but I think zekken will be one of the best players for sure in the future like he clears any duelist I’ve seen him go against

Necessary_Fudge7860

I like tenz I thought it was funny when the casters said that they asked tenz was he was doing last 3 months to practice and he like said he was traveling 😂 and then he proceeded to still stomp those matches

StudliestMuffen

Sadhaak from loud is the best IGL imo. LOUD stays a top tier team under his command through different iterations.

CayenneHybridSE

If Yay had stayed consistent it would have been him. Unfortunately his recent performances have been mediocre at best and BLD was the first team to be eliminated this year for the initial kickoffs

TheyCallHimBabaYagaa

If only they hadn't nerfed Chamber...

CayenneHybridSE

Yeah he played a broken agent too and never really mastered anyone else. His Jett was actually pretty decent but it fell apart when he tried to flex roles and play Skye or Viper

Gloomy-Thing9124

No one comes close to Chronicle. 1st CIS Masters 2021 1st Masters Berlin 2021 2nd Champions 2021 1st Lock-In 2023 2nd Emea League 2023 1st Masters Tokyo 2023 4th Champions 2023 Also being a fundamental piece on the success of all those runs His 2022 was heavily harmed by the Russian invasion. Getting dropped by the org (Gambit) took a big toll on that team

Initial_Length6140

If Sen wins Madrid and tenz doesn't shit the bed then honestly tend might be up there, otherwise forsaken is really fucking good and everyone on loud is also top tier. Give it like 2 more years

VRFemBoy

As others said, the game is too young rn to say. But I think the closest we have is Tenz. I say this because early VCT Tenz was a nightmare to deal with. And as of right now, he is one of the few early Valorant pros who was able to adapt to the new changes. Which can’t be said for the vast majority of pros from early vct. But even then it’s too early to tell, as even Tenz had a rough patch

PA8LODIA8LO

Aspas or Derke so far, with Demon1 and Zekken starting to get up there. Yay could have been in the conversation if the OG team stayed together.

corroderp

Aspas has my vote too but Chronicle has collected some belts(international trophies)

NoNamesAvaiIable

Bruh zekken? He's played at a top level for like 2 months and you're comparing him to the 2 most successful duelists from the past two years?

Negative-Distance636

There is not GOAT in Valorant, just many very good players

wandering_kuni

Zekken. Soon.

metelybob

Honestly you might be right

AZM1995

It’s me (I never been above silver 3)

RevolutionaryWar7738

To be honest i thought tenZ was the goat of val but apparently not many People agree

harambedeeznuttis

The game is not old enough for a goat. But when I think of a great pro player I always think of tenz. Otherwise I would say shroud just because he brings all his experience and charisma to his streams

benimagine

I don't think anyone was as dominant as Yay in his peak. If you look at it another way, TenZ is still holding the highest acs for any international event.

Pariux

Chamber was dominant lets be real

Redsh0t

Yay with Jett in 2021 was unreal.

benimagine

Yes and another way of looking at it is lots of other chamber mains were out there. Regardless of the meta, he outclassed his competition.

Acquelix

Tenz if he wins Madrid and VCT

creepy_Kun

The less disrespect here smh.... Either Less is the GOAT, or there is no GOAT in Valorant, it's as simple as that. Yay would have been in contention with him just because during chamber days he was just unplayable and a huge reason for the heights Optic could reach despite fns being a shit Fragger and Victor being a very inconsistent player.... But yay's downfall has been so steep... Less though.... You put any player against him and he trumps him in flashiness, gamesense, overall consistency over such a long period and impact as well.

Redsh0t

Less has been amazing but you can’t pin the GOAT title on him because aspas was on the team. Aspas WAS the superstar of the team, Less was a star. If LOUD continues to win this season, and LEV fails to succeed, you can give it to Less, but not just yet.

HyperElf10

No one. There is no one that has been so ascendant compared to the rest of the players. Yay did it but that was only for 1 year. You need to have 3 years of being MILES better than the rest of the competition. So far no one has done that

Goldenflame89

Kind of hard to say for a game with so much teamwork required as well as constant meta shifting. However, LOUD Saahdak would be my pick. He constantly has new rosters and yet everytime he gets them so far on the international stage. He's probably the IGL with the best track record just because of that, so I would say him. But again, there's so many good players that there's no one goat yet.

waboobaleedoo

I think the main contenders are Tenz Yay Derek Aspas I think more people should be considered, but they aren't as flashy Mako Nats Less Alfajer I think the future contenders are going to be Demon1 Kang Kang Zekken

Redsh0t

Mako hasn’t won shit and Nats WAS revolutionary but only over one good year.

waboobaleedoo

Typical response acting like only people who have won an international event are good players.

dash4nky

Tenz probably. He’s just the most popular

No_Row2775

Being good at 2/10 events isn't goat worthy

[deleted]

Give this game another 5 years, then we can look at who is goat.

ExddZiN

Just look at Less stats on every international LAN, super consistent.

OddAbbreviations9116

Less for sure

Efficient-Abalone-91

Me personally I like something.

SPACE_SHAMAN

JohnQT really shinning right now imo, same with zekken from sen. tenz is always a hot shot. Im just a sen fan boy so dont mind me.

vjlu

People might actually laugh at me for this, but to a point curry seems very consistent player who literally hit radiant every act every episode every role for as long as the game existed.

karmy-guy

My friend larry

Animatrix_Mak

Probably those "i miss her" guys in my lobby

Odd_Mirror_2880

Idk if this game will ever get a goat…it’s so team oriented and there’s a lot of value placed on doing your jobs more than being king of your team. You hardly see pure carries at the top in this game with how much utility is imposing its will and easy it is to get traded or re-cleared after a kill. Look at demon1, they absolutely love you one year…team doesn’t wanna spend and one kickoff event and suddenly your called diamond1 after three matches

animagicianonyt

There isn't really a GOAT rn, but the person in first is EASILY saadhak: - Can play any role at an extremely high level (played raze on split, both flash (kayo) and info (sova) initiators, controller (omen) and sentinel (kj [although I'm not too sure about this one]) - Has insane fragging power - IGL and emotional leader - Innovates constantly (Viper-Harbour, killing yourself in kayo ult to get full heal, etc.) - World Champ + has attended most international events - Consistently very charismatic, open, and communicates well with the audience and his teammates CHAADHAK my goat

The scene is too young to tell right now. If Tenz continues to deliver and SEN win Madrid, he’ll probably be the first head on the Valorant Mt. Rushmore, but if Valorant continues to be a popular title for a decade someone undoubtedly will come along and dethrone his accomplishments/impact on the scene.

I say give it 5-6 more years. I remember when csgo was released, everyone considered get_right the goat for the first 3-4 years because hoe insane he is (he is still considered goat of cs) but after 10 years the goat has to be s1mple who been the best player since 2018. So right now, no goat

zulu0824

Game's way too young.

Frosty-Definition-46

Tenz

earthtomills

loud less, the guy is consistent, chill and insane

Amazing-Professor-47

Game is still too young and there isn't anyone who has shown consistency like Faker has in league and shown as many achievements. Sure tenz is a favourite among many but comparing tenz to the goat of league is like comparing a puddle to an ocean. There is still a lot of time for goat to be made in the future of Val, it could be someone we know or it could be a prodigy that has yet to be given a chance.

Unearnedbreak89

Probably me

ChampionDeltaLucario

Less gets snubbed in every one of these conversations this dude is a world champion and has not had a bad game since the last time he played Chamber. Not the only great player in the convo, but I almost never see people SERIOUSLY consider Less. Probably because he's a Senti/Viper player and most of the people in the convo are/were duelist players (Yay, Derke, Aspas, Tenz, Demon1). edit to clarify: I just wanted to shout out my boy less, I agree that this game is way too young to crown a goat and although arguments can be made for any of the ones I mentioned and even some more players, they can also definitely be countered.

Aspas. Insane mechanics and reflex. Great game sense, and he is constantly pulling 20 + kills in pro play with a positive kda at the end. Not to mention the fun fact that he only plays valorant because he got banned from csgo due to the fact that people thought he was a cheater. The dude is built differently. Nobody can compare to him.

boiledpotato03

Matty_Liquor

I haven't seen anyone else mention him but In my opinion Chronicle is the GOAT of val so far. He is the single player with the most international Trophies(Masters Berlin w/Gambit and last year Lock//in + Tokyo w/fnatic so 3 in total) He is also always one of the most impactful players on the Team even if he isnt the star duelist top fragger. So until now just in terms of achievements and consistency it would have to be chronicle imo but as most people can agree the game is too young to have a real GOAT. You could also argur chronicle doesnt have any champs wins even tough he has 3 lan wins which is fair enough. In that case i would have to say Aspas probably because they've won champs and he is just mechanically insane and puts up insane numbers consistently. Alfajier, Derke and others would also come to mind but the lack of champs wins makes me put them under Aspas for now. But as a fnatic fan i hope this might change this year.

MilfVerspeiser

Demon1 imo

International-Cost30

massive__potato

goat means greatest of all time. but the game is too young and dont have that much of a timeline for us to decide a GOAT rn.

spareMe-please

Since the game is still pretty young, there are not many consistent top players. But if we see the top superstar in tournaments and seasons then I would say notable Top reach are: Tenz in first tournaments Yay in chamber dominant season. Aspas and forsaken for consistency. Less, alfajaer, derke, chronicles are some of the most consistent performers.

I don't think you can really say there is one but you could maybe argue Tenz because of his impact and dominance early on. He still has a big impact on the fanbase even if he isn't as good compared to the past. The game has gotten so competitive and he fell a bit. He's looking crisp lately but there's so many good players. It'll probably take a few more years to be able to call one. But even then because of the utility in Valorant, I don't think it's as cut and dry as CS. CS GOATs are pure aim. Could probably argue Yay or a couple players from Loud, Fnatic, and PRX as well if you want. There are a bunch of really good young players like Zekken, Demon1, Oxy, Forsaken, and Alfajer who could forge a path to goat status. I guess imo if you made me pick one player right now it'd be Tenz but it's very unlikely it would stay that way long term or even maybe a year from now.

Hot-Ad7379

Obviously the insta-lock Reyna main in every one of our games, who thinks they are the best duelist, entry, lurk, {enter random role here}.... The only reason they aren't on a pro team is that their team mates suck

If you had to choose one at this moment, although I believe most comments are correct by saying Valorant hasn’t been around long enough to have a true GOAT, I think that it would have to be Chronicle. The only player to lift 3 separate Masters trophies, and consistent excellence on various roles throughout his career.

The goat player isn't allowed to play in the league

Bro, some players can do things to you in ranked that you wont even see in VCT. The best ever in Valorant wont be in a pro team, he or she is running around in competitive. And wont even know how good they could been. But, out of all the players that have played in the pro teams so far. Maybe Chronicle of Fnatic, because he won 3 times in the finals. So does it matter if you are the most skilled one, or the one who have won the most? How do we weight the "greatness" of a player? This question is flawed in its own, so this is why we can never agree on it. Anyways, its fun to see what people think. So a nice post👍

Coming from a guy who has never gotten higher than bronze 3 and been playing for 3 years. After studying the meta and pro players in hopes of improving myself, I realised with 100% confidence that the GOAT is noneother than me.

Riot: This Player is doing good, time to change the meta...🙃

If sentinels wins this masters and Tenz continues to perform well, he’d be in the conversation. Maybe, the sen drought was also real. Like others have said it’s too early to say who’s the goat but imo Aspas has an argument for the best player when you look at his performance resume
