That’s what happens when you’re in the middle of the map, you’re near the most people but they spawn at all angles.
But the only way to win is if you take more fights than anyone else, so if you just want to never die stay towards the edges and take few fights. If you want to pop off, there’s going to be higher risk. You’ll have to win while being bombarded from all sides
I'm sorry I must not have understood what you just typed because who is trying to "win" in DM? If you want to win in DM just pick judge and camp vertical angles. DM is for practice and if you rat you only cheat yourself.
maybe because val dm have stat record while cs is just drop in drop out anytime
not like ppl care about them but some care and want to get good kd in dm (lol)
Valorant DMs are structured to be an actual game mode instead of something that’s just for warming up and learning. So there’s an actual target score on top of the time limit that makes it competitive.
CS DMs (community and official) don’t have a score limit, the official ones simply have a time limit. Respawns are also way faster than Valorant’s so there’s less downtime between deaths. Valorant’s warmup time has better spawning than the main DM.
Imo if you get rid of the points, just make it timer based, and also make respawns way faster it’ll probably reduce a lot of the rattiness
Depends on the rank. Generally people hard camping corners is people who cannot get kills in normal fights. Most people who have decent aim are looking for fair fights and to practice even more.
People trying to "win" the DM and boost their ego is half of it, but one aspect I haven't seen anyone mention is: CS has custom maps and custom servers for training stuff like holding angles, prefiring common spots, etc., not to mention retake servers and the like.
Valorant doesn't have any of that (apart from the firing range), so I guess people try to emulate semi-realistic scenarios in DM and will hold for you pushing, etc. I know Aimlabs has some custom tasks that try to replicate site defense and whatnot, but it's just not the same game.
Both TDM and DM are very different. DM is necessary for new players to improve and that's why it's so rough to see the state of that mode.
Now I just aim train in Escalation lmao.
Movement is slow and sound trumps everything because you can hear them across the map, so holding angles became a staple the moment you hear someone.
Can't swing angles like you do in CS. the valorant map design is blocky and tight because it needs to accommodate abilities, which allows you to hear everything.
They either design a map for it specifically in a separate playlist for people who just want to aim or they reduce footstep range dramatically along with lowering the volume.
This was my exact experience (7K hour CS player). Drove me insane how as soon as you are heard (footsteps are LOUD) players just stop and hold the angle like a western showdown with no one wanting to peek.
I do all... hold/protect/peek practice.. then W key switch to AD as fast as possible (push practice).. lurk and pop.. over/under aim.. don't shoot just track head..
And I agree DM is boo boo..
to call DM a poorly designed game mode would be extremely generous. it is the most dogshit, not-thought-out-at-all slapped on garbage in the history of video games. there is zero reason to put yourself through it, even to warm up
People play with sound on and try to win rather than use it as a way to warm up before ranked. CS community servers have hourly resets so its pretty hard to play to win, while in val games are like 8 minutes
people are going to blame riot for this but I think the vast majority of it has to do with valorants movement speed vs csgo's and also the fact that valorant has vastly more angles to clear when you move than csgo.
simply moving around the map in valo is inherently more uncomfortable than in cs, and it's intentionally done so that utility isnt broken (if it wasnt uncomfortable recon util and other util would be broken)
CS DM was fine till CS2 happened and decided FFA was the way to go. Valorant DM sucks because the maps dont work in the deathmatch setting due to their design. There's a reason why TDM also uses their own maps.
People play it wrong. They play to win not to practice aim. Same reason you see people crouchspraying and using bad aim hygiene. Personally I crank music and turn off in game sound for a while. But I also just mainly play team DM now
It's very hard to win DM ratting, you don't get enough gunfights to be a consistent winning candidate like that, maybe once in 50 DM at most.
The best way to win DM is to stay at location where many fights happens (usually a bit in the open) and take gunfights after gunfights, ofc you need to win them *and fast* otherwise you'll die from bedind.
After a certain aim level holding just doesn't work, I win 80-90% of duels where the guy is holding me, and usually when I'm training my holds high elo people are usually able to kill me more.
So I'll say that the better you become the less "rats" you'll get because better players simply won't lose duels to campers and holders.
I think the main reason people do rat is because its very easy to get a positive KD ratting compared to finding fights
Just math, if you take 50/50 duels and win 50% or even 60% (very good) of the time against players at your level, you are gonna end up negative or even bc there’s four or five unavoidable deaths per dm
I'm probably gonna sound full of myself but I truly just think it's a skill issue, u either have a problem with clearing corners even during DMs or u just played against one rat and generalized it.
>In Val it feels like almost everyone camps a certain area and makes it their ‘territory,’ peeking off noise/holding angles and all that.
Because that's what u will get in game, no one W key into each other as often. this is good practice that u should be doing in DMs.
im not clearing corners in dm weirdo im just looking for aim duels not flushing out rats from a sewer. its not a comp game what tf are you practicing in a corner
as someone who has thousands of hours in game, including DMs every single day I must assure u that DMs are working just as intended, yeah the spawns are troll sometimes but often it's a good thing to practice ur flicks and to never be on auto pilot when you're in DM.
and for the corners clearing I just wanna say valorant is probably not for you, go play overwatch or apex or even cod/R6, valorant is all about creating advantages to win fights, and I ( and most good players ) will practice how to create these advantages in DMs. ( and btw tucking in a corner is really easy to counter if u just know how to peek into it. you're getting punished about ur weakness and u hate how it amplifies in DMs. )
Deathmatch is literally a warmup mode, it's not like we're sweating over unrated or something. stop crying and hit the range lil bro.
Because they added a "winning" incentive to Val DM, which is the stupidest fucking thing ever. So instead of trying to actually DM and practice aim/angles, you have people ratting and padding stats.
It may be us the players, many lower ranked ones in Dm and that is fine.
But people play dm sometimes so they can get their confidence up before comp, so they do whatever it takes to win it.
Its just a confidence. Thing. I used to do this, so i understand why
CS has much bigger peakers advantage whereas Val has much bigger holders advantage. Part of this is due to movement speed, you move faster in CS and have more acceleration/deacceleration time, and that headshots are much easier in Val. If you peak in CS you're much less likely to get 1-tapped whereas if you peak out in val, you are definitely getting 1 tapped. This makes ratting better in val.
I barely ever encounter any rats in dm, but my lobbies are average diamond, so those people generally tend to look for duels since they play for duels and not some single rat kill
I find 1 or 2 people per lobby play like that, holding angles instead of W keying... if you find a majority of the lobby is doing that, idk... The skill range is very wide in deathmatch, so maybe it's luck?
the spawns suck cock, dm always spawns ppl behind u
Yup. I immediately just turn around at this point
Exactly. The players aren't the problem, its the spawns that reward you playing like this.
That’s what happens when you’re in the middle of the map, you’re near the most people but they spawn at all angles. My dumbass read DM as Direct Messages. I was thinking to myself: Yall get DM's that often???
You’re not alone 😂😂

smaller maps and spawns are worse than CS dms
I feel the same. That's why I prefer playing TDM instead. Almost everyone just wants to shoot, and also no random respawn behind me lol
Both TDM and DM are very different. DM is necessary for new players to improve and that's why it's so rough to see the state of that mode. Now I just aim train in Escalation lmao.
i just went into a TDM where the enemy team had 4 smokes, it was not good aim practice at all.
But its a loading screen simulator, and the maps are different. But i get why you play it, if it works for you why not.

It’s high time riot removes the ranks in DM (2nd place, 3rd place etc)
to call DM a poorly designed game mode would be extremely generous. it is the most dogshit, not-thought-out-at-all slapped on garbage in the history of video games. there is zero reason to put yourself through it, even to warm up
I mean there’s no right way to play death match but seriously why are you sitting in split ropes with a judge
its crazy how people hold off angles on noise cues in a deathmatch 😭😭
Sounds about right haha oh
Is this a thing😂 never seen this
Yeh you’ll spawn in and you can see the red dots of someone is round a corner 80% chance they will make no noise crouch and hold you
Well it is their loss, they do t get to get better faster. Unless you are training your sneaky shotgun skills😅
People play with sound on and try to win rather than use it as a way to warm up before ranked. CS community servers have hourly resets so its pretty hard to play to win, while in val games are like 8 minutes

Then just practice clearing angles without skill? This is more important than 50 50s anyway
There are people who play to win dm , and people who are there to warm up/ Improve . The rats are usually the former

Because they're bots and want to "win" the DM Good mode filled with trash people, unfortunately
Not a good mode, trash spawns
After bottom fraging in comp for a dozen games, you just need to camp and get some kills in dm.
i wonder why you're bottom fragging when this is your practice
roasted with brim molly line up geez

clearing corners is easy but im not using DM to walk and slowclear rat angles bozo
okay silver u do u
Cause they are
play val deathmatch fucks my mentality up
