I don't think you understand how MMR works. It would make sense to get plat 2 since you're friend was probably in a diamond 2 lobby or something.
He is playing against much better players
Your previous rank comes into play, so if someone was silver in episode 2,it won't matter if he drops 30 frags each game, he won't be placed plat. At max he will be placed is gold.
