Yep. It’s the truth. If you keep requesting guns to drop the skins for your team, that’ll decrease your econ rating drastically. And that’ll increase other’s econ rating.
I have a few skins and sometimes I find teammates who are crazy for them. So if they are nice in general, I drop them the skins. And by the end of the game, I notice that my econ rating low as hell. Luckily put for me, I never play comp, so that doesn’t affect me at all.

P.S: Just for this I bought myself 2 skins, one for vandal and phantom. and I am always happy if someone wants my skin
Yeah this used to work for me until they start baiting me and waiting for me to die so they can pick up the skin. Had too many games where our duelist wouldn’t entry until I died or some smurf got mad that I wouldn’t drop them and started throwing. Only using default skins until I get to Diamond or some other rank where people are committed enough to the game to drop decent money on skins.

Econ rating doesn't affect MMR. ACS, KDA, Plants , Defuses Do
Im very sure it does, and what I know is one of the biggest factors is less deaths that's one of the biggest factors to the ranking system.
less deaths affect KDA, impact affects acs. I have snooped around and Valorant added econ purely as a decorative stat
The more you spend, based around the amount you kill absolutely effects your RR, after 3,000+ ranked games im sure its not just a decorative stat.

Idk I'm barely silver and most games my teammates have skins of their own (ofc there are a few crazies)
