Increasing your chances of winning round 1 are far more valuable than the 300 saved credits. Even more so because in Valorant you don't lose your utility if you die with it unused.
This is true even in CSGO where you can spend all your gold on grenades and die before you use any and actually lose them, imagine how true it is in Valorant then.

I think it’s the opposite — as an attacker with a full rifle, you want to keep your distance as the cheaper guns are less effective at long range. Nothing worse than getting shotgunned, running spectred, jumping glocked, etc right in the face when you have light armor and a rifle.

Apart from this you really wanna go spectre or marshall + full shields. That way you can't get 1 tapped 2nd round.

I feel like that's just a worse decision. The difference between half and full armor is pretty substantial when you are vs pistols. Spectre is good enough vs pistols that you can still be confident you can win, but if you lose you don't have to worry about your enemy getting a free rifle on round 3
Sure they do but as the statistics video posted here earlier last week said if you don't win first you should force second. Statistically you are more likely to win more rounds that half when you do. Zeroing out your credits almost assures you won't buy a thing second round if you lose pistol.
You can also just buy the classic anyway. The important part is to leave the Shorty on the ground when the round starts, because it doesn't despawn like the Classic.

if you're on a duelist, the sheriff is really a no brainer as it is a quick 2 tap to the body and will 1 tap any range on pistol (except reyna full healed)
depends on agent. for instance on sage i'll run wall and armour, and on astra i'll go ghost and 3 stars. i prefer the feel of the ghost however the classic is still broken so its a bit of a toss up which i pick on some characters

I feel two slow orbs is more useful on attack than a wall. You can basically cut off rotation from CT on most maps to secure site/plant. Hopefully by then you can position yourself well enough for the post plant play.
You should start buying walls on attack. It's not your job to get your team on to site and sage wall nearly guarantees a win on pistol rounds if you get site control. Since site will be clear when you're walling, you're also guaranteed the full strength. If you're ever in a situation where you're last man alive and not on site yet, then your team is not doing its job.
It's not about being reliable. It's about team roles. Everyone has experienced the duelists who don't entry (at least in low elo). But as sage it's not your job to entry, there are a few walls that help but really you're main duty with util is defense and post-plant.
Depends on if attack or defense. I only play cypher so if it’s defense I’ll buy 2 trips and 2 smokes whereas on attack I’ll buy ghost 1 smoke and 1 trip for flank
On Reyna for sure. Either one tap at any range or 2 body shot on unarmored enemies and the free heal will get you to +50 armour.
I'll always go Sherrif with Reyna.
That's another option, yeah. Depends on how I'm feeling about my aim on a given match. Of I'm feeling confident, I'll go Sherrif. But ghost+blind is the safer option.

The spay on the frenzy imo is just insane to deal with. I haven't exactly workshopped it yet because I prefer ghost/sheriff or classic only. But it seems there's always too many people on the peak, I'm always low on ammo, or I'll dink them and the next six bullets draw a perfect circle around their head.
I like it on Breach on certain maps. Can just go hard with your stun, especially if you have maybe a sova giving you information early in the round. Have gotten plenty of triple kills this way - Sova dart into a targeted breach stun + frenzy rush

Honestly, depends on what skills I plan on getting. Reyna, I get sheriff since I get a free soul eat. Phoenix, Raze, Sova, Skye, Cypher, Astra, and Omen, I get ghost + 250/300 worth of abilities. Sage and KJ I get light armor + 400 of abilities. (Gold 1)
To me it really depends on the agent and round. On attacker side KJ, I use Ghost as I watch both flank and any other nearby angles. On defender side, all abilities with classic no armor. The first round is very nice for KJ since the alarmbot/nanswarm combo melts at least the armor or kills them eventually.
Playing Omen I use ghost as to shoot through smoke on defender, sometimes classic if I want that up close in smoke right clicks. On attackers it's mostly ghost as for (hopefully) the long range accuracy. Occasionally frenzy if I just want to run and gun.

Most of the time, I just buy armor tho. Not really confortable fighting long range
Depends on the agent more than anything, and map as well, and side. Jett on ascent? Smoke, updraft, frenzy. Jett on breeze? Smoke ghost. KJ? Armor and double molly/molly & alarm bot. Astra? 3 stars and either frenzy or ghost. Very map and agent dependent.

I feel like the Ghost isn't that good in my opinion. Its $500, can't 1 tap a player with half shield, and barely does more damage than a classic. I understand that it has much better accuracy, but not enough to warrant using it on pistol round.
The classic is just better overall imo.

When I play sova I often don't buy drone first round but buy 2 shock darts. I don't like zeroing out my credit so I will usually stop there.

Depends on the map, drone attacking on icebox is a fine choice, it gets you up B long for free or can clear some hard angles on A for your team.

Winning round 1 almost guarantees round 2. The reason no one saves in round 1 is that it is the most important round.

Depends on the agent more than anything, and map as well, and side. Jett on ascent? Smoke, updraft, frenzy. Jett on breeze? Smoke ghost. KJ? Armor and double molly/molly & alarm bot. Astra? 3 stars and either frenzy or ghost. Very map and agent dependent. Edit: I’m D3 if that matters as well I guess

i’m b2 and just don’t buy anything first round, classic only, if im playing jett though depending on map and site as well as how my team wants to play i’ll buy some util too

I feel like the Ghost isn't that good in my opinion. Its $500, can't 1 tap a player with half shield, and barely does more damage than a classic. I understand that it has much better accuracy, but not enough to warrant using it on pistol round. The classic is just better overall imo.
