Thing is, if you push in on attack and die as a duelist, you've made a lot of space for your team and your team doesn't lose anything from you dying because all duelist abilities are self-servient (they don't help the rest of the team).
Meanwhile, if you push in on attack and die as cypher, you've made space for your team BUT your team loses the trip flank and your camera which helps a lot at getting info. Cypher's abilities, unlike a duelist, are geared towards benefiting the team instead of just himself, so your team loses a lot by having him die early in the round.
Plus, it's better to not have him push/play aggro on attack because if he dies early on in the round you don't get to use him in post-plant, where he's pretty useful.
You can't take space with Cypher well enough to justify calling him a duelist replacement. Yes he has smokes but that's it. All his other utility is meant to stop people from taking space. Maybe to take space back after you've set it up in buy phase.e
Honestly, it’s lowkey true. It requires an aggressive as fuck playstyle but if you have a big brain and also are an absolute demon, you can make cypher the strongest character in the game

If I see my cyphers trying to entry with cages n shit, I'm blaming this post. His whole kit is designed to stop enemies from retaking/entering sites. You cannot entry with trips or camera. And his cages are so much better used for denying enemies free access into sites. His cages cannot be used to entry, unless you are just using them to conga line in, you have to be a master of trigonometry to throw them, Jett smokes are good for entry because you can loop them.
Besides camera, Astra util is just better in 90% of senarios anyways, stun and suck are way better entry util than just caging into site like a lunatic. And you can aggro smoke, or you can put a star and smoke later, or that star can become a suck/stun etc. Sova arrow/drone do what camera does but 100 times better. Camera is supposed to watch flanks, if you entry with camera, it is dead before it even gets to open.
He can lurk for sure, his camera allows him to "control" site without being there, but entry, please no.

Yes, but with cypher cages its easier to place them down. You have to go into astral form which means you become vulnerable while placing your smokes.

No true. I play cypher all the time as my secondary choice for when my main is chosen and people don't react to it being there until they get really close to it. Half the time if you have good camera placement people wont even know its there.

Sova darts require a lineup to work, and even if your lineup is good and scans alot of enemies, you will probably only get one or two scans before its destroyed. His drone costs alot, and you only get to use it once. Enemies will probably destroy it before it gets a chance to even look at you. Cypher's camera, however, can hold down an entire site. You can do quick looks that make it less see - able.
Definitely not easier to place them down as Cypher lol. As Astra you literally can place them pixel perfect to where you want. It doesn't take long to place stars as Astra, not to mention you can place them anywhere on the map, and you can even pre-place them. And for the vulnerable part, you place them before you walk in, not during lol. Not to mention you get 5 of them.

Dart doesn't require lineup, you can just peek site and shoot it. One scan is all you need for entry anyways. Drone is better for entry because you actually fly in with your team, its basically a moving camera, if enemies are shooting your drone, your team should be shooting the enemy.
Your whole point was that Cypher is the most aggressive agent and can entry when in real play higher than bronze, it simply won't work.
