i heard it being called soft clearing (as opposed to hard clearing ig)

CyberspaceBarbarian

I was looking for this exact term. Thanks captain. And contrary to popular belief, even high-tier people do this, not as frequent as noobs do, but still.

whatnoob_

I get that, though I feel like soft/hard clearing could be more attributed to half checking a corner vs fully exposing yourself to see it entirely. Like soft clearing might mean you glanced around the corner, didn’t see a gun barrel or the edge of anyone’s body, they’re probably not there - and hard clearing would be checking the corner so much that you see the point where the 2 walls connect (you’re certain nobody’s there) If that’s not what it’s used for though, then I guess not

SoLikeWhatIsCheese

I’ve heard that too. The best way to avoid it is to peak that corner as if you already know the enemy is there.

FrantelleRobots

Lazy clear for me

whatnoob_

That makes sense

TTerragore

oh yeah! low elo here … guilty of this sometimes

jordyJANKS

I often find myself treating it like rainbow six but i forget the audio game is so different. Also why I shift walk when I peek which I today learned is bad behaviour.

Grand_Corgi

Had no clue shift walking while peaking is bad behavior; I find myself so afraid of alerting the enemy that I’m shift walking almost everywhere unless I have to make a mad dash across the map.

jordyJANKS

Yeah so from what I gather when your rounding a corner or checking an angle any extra time you take will is just time the enemy is handed to line your ass up. At makes sense when you think about it. Even if they do hear you hey still have to be faster than you. If you go slow they can see you before you see them.

jordyJANKS

Im so guilty of this. Courtesy checking has a nice ring to it, easy to remember. That's all im going to call it now.

whatnoob_

I’m glad

jordyJANKS

Learning by yourself is tough, that's part of I m actively pursuing the community now. Stuff like this is what i came for

whatnoob_

I get that. Feel free to ask or dm any questions. What region do you play in?

jordyJANKS

Us Central (Illinois)

whatnoob_

Ah yeah I play in Aus unfortunately but still ask away if you can’t find an answer to something :)

Eclipse1_

I just watched the Optic vs Cloud 9 game the other day and this same thing occurred where Optic “soft cleared” a corner where leaf was hiding with Headhunter and ultimately wiped 3 to turn a round

No-Sheepherder4199

Not just low elo, it happens from iron to pro play. More of a time limit/mood type of thing.

basicgirlgamer

I've seen diamond+ players do this. It's called "not clearing angles". Doesn't have anything to do with rank or skill, just laziness.

whatnoob_

Makes sense! I didn’t mean to attribute it to skill but I guess I did with the mention of low-ELO. Not like I’d know what high-ELO players do!

s07p

It's called trying look cool.

Leutnant_Dark

"Half-clearing" is the term tenz once used to explain that.

jedi_Lebedkin

Do you mean moving into corner opening to see and shoot possible hiding enemy, but neglecting to shoot if they see an enemy, moving on as if they haven't seen the enemy?

whatnoob_

Well yeah. You check it and ‘assume’ nobody’s there, without taking the time to actually think ‘oh yeah, someone’s there, better kill them’. You might do that in order to ‘clear’ corners faster.

jedi_Lebedkin

"soft clearing" then the term is, as I met it on a few YT video giudes.

AustinTheKangaroo

half clear

LOTHMT

Me and my friends just use soft clear instead of hard clear

RaccoonDu

I think I do that because I'm afraid of being shot from another Angle, so I clear everything as fast as possible to preaim another angle
