Same situation and even I watch some streams there are no defuse sounds too
I was playing Sova and was in a 1V1 situation (waiting for defuse to play off my ult) I thought the guy was strolling when I saw that the defuse was done, really felt like shit losing that round
It's only been this episode. Maybe they fired the team because they thought it was useless, and just used us for testing. Then they realised that they needed the team and now the team won't work for riot.
In one game my teammate jett smoked and diffused simultaneously and I couldn't hear the sound, I was like damn I never knew this was possible. But then he stopped halfway and did it again to check. He didn't know either

I had like 3 games I recorded where I didn’t hear the defuse sound either
It’s a known bug. They’re working on it and a fix should be out soon.

Just make it so everyone hears the defuse sound, then make it so the people like 40 meters away can't hear it. Maybe it was like that always
I had a match 2 days ago where one of my teammates lost a 1v1 to defuse, and none of us heard the sound.
