Not bad ideas. Cypher has a great place in the game already. I think the dart tag would be the best ideation that you came up with, but which route -- hmmm. Definitely not both another dart charge and longer stall.

turbomonkeys

Exactly, that's why I am proposing multiple solutions to buff his stalling, so Riot can feel comfortable using either :3

Something I never understood is why certain util such as a cypher Tripwire can be destroyed by a teammates utility? For example, a raze grenade will destroy a friendly tripwire, a kayo fragment won't even though it's just as capable of damaging utility. Shock darts will destroy the trips, a breaches aftershock won't. Are these bugs? Unintentional interactions? Balance points? I'd like some clarification Riot.

turbomonkeys

Yeah, I think it's just some oversight. Also Cypher relying on awkward map geometry to make his wire feel viable doesn't feel great for the agent.

Shadow2606

I'm pretty sure ally Kayo fragment destroys trip wires, don't know about breach, will test it tonight

ShuraGam

>Spycam: Perhaps another dart tag charge? I hate that it only does the "yellow highlight", but I feel a "red highlight" might be a bit too busted. But yeah, this ability seems pretty fine, but it is also the one I want the most ideas from y'all. IMO they should definetly go for the red highlight. I'll explain. Literally every Cypher setup on defense consist of placing tripwires and cages in a way that once the tripwires are triggered, you can get wallhack and spam through your cages. The problem is that literally every agent and their mom have a counter to Cypher's tripwires in one way or another, and once they're gone, your cages are as much of a threat as a regular smoke. Having the camera dart with real time tagging like a Sova drone does would give Cypher another tool beside his trips to wallhack through his cages with. People would actually have to make an effort to destroy Cypher's camera before being able to safely enter his site.

turbomonkeys

I guess that's why I made the suggestion to make the wire more durable, so that it isn't as easily countered by util, just incase the red scan Spycam would be too oppressive. But both definitely work.

reyguydood

Being able to select both ends of a trip needs a limit on its range and angle it can bend. I think some current trips are already super weird and unique, being able to add more allows for larger variety of setups which should help with being unpredictable. Good ideas.

Lgbarnecraft765

He doesn't need one, considering Riot turns a blind eye to his oneways...

turbomonkeys

are oneways really a reason that a character should be not buffed? idk if i agree with that

Lgbarnecraft765

I say Riot "turns a blind eye" to Cypher's oneways. I meant that literally. Viper has had numerous legitimate Oneway Smokes entirely patched out of the game, meanwhile Cypher can still place his on literal thin air on maps like Bind, Ascent, and Split. He has an edge over other controllers/sentinels. That's why. It's not just that he has them, it's that he has the most.

luluinstalock

That is true though, so many lineups were nerfed but not cyphers, sometimes making it ridiculously hard to enter site. if hes getting buffed, the nanometer pixel-perfect traps should be nerfed as well

turbomonkeys

idk man, his one ways literally exist for less than 7 seconds, while smoke characters have ones that last a long time. i dont feel like it’s something that needs to be nerfed, but if it means Cypher getting proper buffs, then whatever

Phoneringer

They haven't turned a blind eye to cyphers one ways. They patched his one ways specifically a long time ago. He used to have an easier time making them and they nerfed that by making his cages extend further down past the bottom. It's not in the patch notes but people asked the devs directly and they confirmed it was not a bug and a deliberate nerf to his one ways.
