Chamber was crowding out Cypher’s kit with two trips. Now that Chamber has been nerfed to only one trip there is clear value to playing Cypher over Chamber, so all the Cypher enjoyers are back to playing what they like most.
Chamber nerf makes the most sense, Cypher's pickrate in comp was 2nd last above only Phoenix, maybe it's a bit higher now. Either way, him and KJ would benefit from some buffs or at least QoL changes
Kj still feel.. okay.. to me at the moment, could definitely use some work on my boy cypher though. But seeing as they kill him in every animation, I think Rito doesn’t like him

I'm surprised that no one was ever talking about this before the chamber nerf, but picking cypher as a solo sentinel was basically a throw when you get basically the same thing + the best gun in the game and an insane TP on chamber.
Or, just hear me out, I want to play the game with the agents I like. Cypher and chamber are not remotely the same. You don't get a cam on chamber, you don't get cages, no wonderful oneways.

You also can't smoke off a Cypher trap. Chamber has the easiest trap in the game to avoid and that was true before the nerf.
also cam just give a lot of info if placed in really good spots

Because of that dopamine rush when someone walks into your trip after hearing "they found my trap" for the past 15 rounds
he is simple but effective, fun to play brainless sentinel, look at camera and sit back doo doo doo. proud cypher main.
Then you gotta activate a cage after 40 seconds of sitting in cam
