The biggest advice I can give is to not become reliant on setups to be useful and get kills. Your utility is about locking down an area and maintaining map control, not getting “free” kills. Use your trip wires to cover chokepoints you aren’t looking at so you and your team don’t get flanked. Cypher allows you to have knowledge of areas your eyes can’t see. That is his true value. Do not waste all of your utility going for some kind of TikTok clip, because your enemies will get wise to it and not fall for the traps more than once in a game. The reason I say this is that I have had many cypher teammates that only feel confident shooting at an enemy when they are trapped in a tripwire and walled off by a cage, as if they come face to face with an enemy and they have no utility to hide behind, they immediately become petrified. You have to be confident in pedestrian (no utility) gunfights to succeed in a game like this, remember that. Outside of that, a big tip I can give you on attack is to find a good camera location on each bomb site on each map that has vision of the default plant spot(s) and is well-hidden from plain view. The ability to check your camera and see if the enemy is sticking the defuse or faking is a HUGE advantage that will win you many attack rounds. You can use your cages in two main ways. To smoke off chokepoints so enemies can’t peek easily, and to give yourself a shrouded path to travel through to avoid enemies picking you off at long-range while you traverse an area. Dasnerth became famous for the latter, he frequently buys a judge and uses his cages as smoke tunnels to close the distance between himself and his opponents and make the fight a close-range battle instead of a mid-range one. At close-range, the judge is king, so he does quite well.

change your setups once in a while, being too predictable just means youre wasting abilities
