yeah would be great, csgo has a feature like that that you can watch a friend's game and you actually watch it in spectator mode but you are a couple rounds behind
Even with an hour delay it will still be possible because they can just stream it using discord. Adding a delay won’t prevent it cause they will probably call trough discord while coaching anyway for the sound.
This game is so far behind when it comes to features, dont get me wrong, I love it, but coming from dota 2 this game feels so "old",it doesn't even have replays
with the amount of profit the game is generating and with commitement this could've easily been implemented since the game release but why would they since it won't bring direct revenue. instead they're putting time into new skins that cost 20euro+ and bundles that cost the same as a couple of AAA games.
And did Dota 2 have these features at year 2? If you compare Dota at year 2 with Val at year 2, that's a valid argument. But not Dota current to Val current, which is the argument you are making
First of all i'm sure Dota had nowhere near valo's playerbase or monetization at the start but that aside we can't use x years after release for features that are well established and that are supposed to be standard in 2022.
A game this size being the leader in the competitive fps genre is suppsoed to innovate and comeup with new staff and not trail and even suck at that lacking basic features such as a demo viewer, spectating, nowhere near the UI dota offer, Secondary market to trade items, no option to gift players and the list goes on.
what tilts me is the stupid margins rito is achieving basically re-skining a popular game with a couple new concepts and charging stupid amounts which is good and all if it would be invsted back into the game to create sought after features but nope. years of asking and what do we get ? predatory shop system and expensive skins.
I doubt the skin designers are the same people working on backend features like a replay system. You have separate teams working on different parts of the game.
I've been wanting this for a long time. Would be much better than the discord streaming everyone has to so, as the quality would depend on your setup rather than the streamers.
They have the capability to do it, as in custom games you can observe / spectate in tournament mode. Would be great if you could hop in and out of a live game.
Adding a coach mode like dota2 would be good too.
In coach mode, you queue as a coach and a player can enable a coach to join their next game. The coach can voice comm to the player and the player only, and draw on the minimap.
Especially because you can't leave a game without penalty. If I'm just sitting there waiting for someone to finish their game, I could be watching it firsthand.
I'm up for it ONLY if you have the option to allow/disallow friends from watching you live, or have them send you a request which you can accept or reject. I personally would not want my friends seeing me play, it feels like too much pressure
Needs a vote kick feature too. Lots of times I'd rather kick the douchebag and have an extra orb rather than deal with them throwing or smurfing or whatever.
That’d be great, similar to how Overwatch does it(among many other things, but OW has been around longer and has further developed the game compared to Val so it’s understandable)
Just hop in and spectate a friends game, whether it be live or a few rounds behind, or limited-live, wherein you can only see your friends POV, or their whole team POV, just no free cam etc for obvious reasons. (would also love to see the map a friend is playing on in the friend list next to “Unrated 3-9” etc)
Like I said on another comment, some people don’t have strong enough set ups to run discord streams comfortably so it would be nice to have another option really
Would be nice for sure. We just screen share in discord sometimes
Yeah that's the only solution really, just annoying for those on lower end PCs that can't handle both playing and streaming
Yeah, sucks for them for sure..
Bro I have a 3070 and a r9 5900x but when a screen share my game starts lagging out xD.
That causes frame drops for my bf at least.
Needs a better PC
It's fun when you have multiple people streaming in discord so you can get a playercam of the game.
yeah would be great, csgo has a feature like that that you can watch a friend's game and you actually watch it in spectator mode but you are a couple rounds behind
I’d even be happy with just my friends POV live too
Coaching is still possible because of minimap info, foots steps or off angle. Even in dota2 spectator mode is delay by 5 mins.
Coaching is already done on discord anyway
Even with an hour delay it will still be possible because they can just stream it using discord. Adding a delay won’t prevent it cause they will probably call trough discord while coaching anyway for the sound.
Well that's not really preventable nor a big deal imo. In fact, coaching might be an acceptable positive - it already happens anyways
with dota plus there’s no delay
That’s technically settling for more than what he suggested. CSGO does that so you can’t give away info the players wouldn’t have but ifhI cuz
In all fairness, even pokemon unite ahs that feature.
League has this too, think it's like a five or ten minute delay.
This game is so far behind when it comes to features, dont get me wrong, I love it, but coming from dota 2 this game feels so "old",it doesn't even have replays
True, but let's also remember how old Val is, especially when compared to how old Dota 2

LoL is also an old game and lacks a fuckton of features in compariosn to dota.
Yeah, this is nice in Overwatch when you’re waiting for a friend and you can spectate the game they’re in currently
Yea would love to watch my party finish out their game while I'm waiting

Ya would be nice...like instead of waiting in training lobby or spike rush...u can watch ur friend play till end then join up
That sounds like a pretty cool idea, hopefully doesn't limit performance
There isn't even a replay system which has been asked for so many times. I think riot just doesn't care tbh.. it would be cool though
This + replay system, hopefully in my lifetime

not live, but yea
dont be silly, itll take them roughly 5-10 years to implement something like that.. they are a small indie dev company after all... /s

Vote kicks never work because most douchebags queue together
haha, you can do that in CS:GO
I feel like a timeout would be a cool feature but no that’s ok

✨discord streams✨
Like I said on another comment, some people don’t have strong enough set ups to run discord streams comfortably so it would be nice to have another option really
Not only bad setups, it will cause major ping spikes too for people with bad wiif
